Really cool place away from everything. Good faciltities. I liked the big open space lounge/kitchen area. Only a 5 minuite walk from a practically private beach. The owners are really friendly and chatty

The setting is really very nice, and we were welcomed by the owner? and given a quick tour. On the up side, there is a resident kangaroo who is very tame and you can get quite close and enjoy her presence. Also saw plenty of other wildlife. On the down side, the owner has 2 dogs, and one decided that...

Great place to stay! Stayed in one of the cabins and had a wonderful, relaxed time in a fantastic setting. Owners Mick and Michelle are probably the best thing about this place as they make you feel at home from the first minute you arrive.

We didn't have our own tent, so opted for the tent hire, which was clean and spacious. When we got there, we talked to Michelle, who was super friendly and gave us wonderful tips about local places to visit and to-do things - very useful, as we didn't know much about the area. There is a lovely kangaroo on the...

I loved staying on one of the cabins, it was so relaxing! The cabin had a fridge which was handy for booze and water. Loved having photos taken with Josie the kangaroo who lives on the camp. It was surreal sharing with animals but it was cool. Went exploring the sand dunes by 4WD, sand-boarding and dolphin cruise. I would...

Came with our son who was leading a group. Wonderful place to stay with Josie the kangaroo on property, koalas in the trees, kookaburras flying around. Owners Mick and Michelle were wonderful. Did the sandboarding trip which is out of thi world, climbed Tomaree at Nelsons Bay, did the Dolphin Cruise and all in all had a great time.

We stayed at Melaleuca Backpackers in a 4 dorm cabin (it was $40 per person by memory). There was four of us - so a total of $160 per night. The room had its own fridge which was great and also a small balcony. I was a little un-nerved by the fact the door to the balcony wasn't fully enclosed...

Management response:

Thank you for your review, being a Natural bush setting we are very aware that our set up is not everyone's "cup of tea", we aim to encourage the local fauna to the property and as a result, you may feel that the place is overgrown, we on the other hand, understand that the removal of flora is detrimental to...

This is a lovely place to stay if you're traveling on the cheap and want to feel like you're in the natural world. Are you a bird watcher? Phenomenal creatures abound. There is an adorable pet kangaroo named Josie who was rescued as a joey - hand raised and docile. The staff and owners were so sweet, Michael was very...

I came to Melaleuca just after new year for one week! Mick and Michelle were very helpful and very friendly! The use of a push bike to get to the shops was great and the discount pass for the busses given was very helpful and made traveling very cheap. The sand-boarding trip with Mick is great! This trip is well...

We arrived at the camp site and were quick shocked to find that the camping area was adjacent to a main-ish road. We were expecting a quiet tranquil spot. (If you are a backpacker though the rooms are at the back so you will be OK). We were travelling with 4 families (8 children aged from 3 years to 9...
