We stayed here for one night en-route from the Italian Alps to Meintz in Germany and as it was near the World Heritage site of Neuf-Brisach we thought we would stay here so that we could take a look around.

We left Italy (Champoluc) at 9:15am and after stopping for lunch in Switzerland, for about an hour, we got to Le Caballin at about 4pm.

The outside of the hotel is a bit scruffy and right next to a large weir (this time of year doesn't help either as Spring has not yet sprung). After checking in, we thought we were walking into a hostel as the bare passage ways and staircase don't do it justice.

However once inside the room (room 25) it was lovely. Newly refurbished with wood flooring new shower room with large shower and frosted glass sliding door. Big triple French windows overlooking a small lake.

The large room was completely re-furbished with light wood panelling, large LED TV, modern lighting and a desk, chair plus two armchairs and coffee table. The Windows also had an electronic shutter.

The room had a King Size bed with lovely white bed linen.

I would think in the Summer the area will be buzzing and completely different. The room also had air conditioning although we didn't need it in March.

Good value and 5 star room, plenty of car parking and the hotel also has a restaurant although we didn't try it.

Room very nice, big ,clean, king side bed, nice bad room. The room is like cottage but with high tech domotic, airco, flat screen, the view on the small lagon is so peacefull. I will come back there... We are French speaker, so no idea for reception issue mentioned. On the desk you have a bell, so you have to wait few second and someone is coming. We had nice chat, nice advise, friendly reception.

Location is on an island in the Rhine River. Our room had one end that was floor to ceiling windows and sliding glass doors to a patio. The view was of the river with swans and ducks. The bed was king sized and faced the outdoor scene. The accommodations are all modern with a great bathroom and shower. The everything about the hotel is spotless.

They make great French scrambled eggs at your request. The rest of the breakfast was good also in the European hotel breakfast style.

There is a restaurant on the premises which is quite good. No other restaurants for quite some distance.

On arrival we had a hint of what our stay was going to be like as the receptionist was outside smoking a cigarette and not behind the desk where she should have been .Unfortunately this was the most expensive hotel and the worst. I paid extra for a room with a balcony but you would not want to sit out on it as it was filthy covered in bird mess ,cobwebs with flies everywhere. Although the bedroom was massive it obviously had not been updated for years and one of my pet hates is mouldy showers and bathrooms. I refused to eat here and pay the extra for breakfast as it should have been included in the price in my view. Awful place do not go here you will be disappointed.

Very nice, quiet hotel with a magnificent view of the Rhine!
Very clean, very good bedding! Free parking ! There's nothing negative to say, it's a nice surprise. I recommend it to you with your eyes closed.
The little extra, an excellent restaurant! Where you can dine without even having reserved a room. Remember to reserve the restaurant, because it is so good that it is always full.

We ate with family, very disappointed with the staff, unfriendly waitress not smiling. Very slow service. After ordering, a starter had been forgotten, a plate of fish without taste, without sauce and non-existent side dish. No more sweet potato. Not specified when ordering. Then more desert pies. Same still not specified when ordering. Incompetent staff. Lamentable, when we usually said go. For our part, it will be over. Last time.
Restaurant to avoid.
