“Upgraded” from a main hotel room to Willowbrook to get a kitchen and living room over Christmas. The room interiors are dated to say the least, the pull out couch not comfortable neither to sit nor sleep. We called for bedding for the couch and two hours later had to call again because it never came. Cleanliness was to be desired, every cabinet you touched had jam or something sticky globed on the edges as you opened the doors. We found a roll of bubble gum that expired four months prior, a random Shoe under the couch and bag of ritz crackers in a cabinet. The kitchen supplies were almost non existent, the dishwasher knowingly didn’t work but they left us dishwasher pods but nothing else to clean the dishes, I asked for a scrubbie pad after the cleaning staff said our dishwasher motor was bad and he handed me more dishwasher pods. We had pre booked dinner at the Bistro for $50 a person for Xmas assuming it would be booked, we were one of three families in there, we didn’t need a reservation and the food left a lot to be desired, all the desserts were dried up, and the food choices didn’t reflect the price. We utilized the water park and I will at least give them credit that they will provide a shuttle from Willowbrook to the main building but I called twice to ask what time it closed and they told us 8pm, so I dragged three little kids over for 5pm, aside from the water being freezing and too cold for them we were kicked out within thirty minutes for a private group they booked from 6-8pm who they started to heat the water for as we were leaving. The lifeguard spent more time socializing than paying attention, when my three year old yelled for help in front of where on stood, they didn’t even hear as they were chatting with some guy, I was there with her but that’s not the point, it made more worried for the parents who sent their kids there by themselves. The female manager also walked into the mens changing room on my husband, brother and son. What a total waste of the $40pp that it was. The morning we were checking out my husband went to get the car and came back to find that the key cards did work, they deactivated our key cards 5hrs at least prior to check out. I was appreciative of an upgrade because we were meeting my mom halfway for the holidays and wanted more space than a standard hotel room, but we traveled out in weather than kept most people home and left them with lots of cancellations. The staff at the front desk and otherwise were friendly.

I will begin by saying we read the reviews and had low expectations knowing the place needed renovating so decor would be dated and furniture, etc old and basic.

We checked in Friday afternoon (June 30) of the July 4th weekend and upon getting into the room noticed several items not present. We called the front desk and asked for the following basic items that were missing:

Bathroom soaps
Bathroom washcloths
Bathroom hair dryer
Kitchen soap (dishsoap, dishwasher soap)
Kitchen sponge/cloth
Paper towels
Kitchen hot pad/oven mitt
Kitchen towel/dish towel

These items were noted per the front desk and to be delivered to the room however they never came throughout the evening.

We went to the front desk in the morning (Saturday) to ask again and brought a written list where we witnessed the front desk attendant TEXT the items to someone to have them delivered.

About 90 minutes later, we received 1 paper towel roll, 2 soap bars, 2 dishwasher pods, and a hair dryer, but nothing else. The staff member who delivered the items said there were no kitchen items to provide and they had no washcloths, but that he would bring back soaps for the bathroom. He never did.

The kitchen is useless without any towel, washing sponge, dish soap, dish-drainer and especially no hot pad/oven mit considering the pans all had metal handles and of course for getting anything out the oven. These are not unusual items and STANDARD for a room with a full kitchen and bath.

In addition the carpet was completely worn out with stains throughout and sticky in places so you had to wear shoes or sandals at all times.

For peak summer over the July 4th weekend it was also shocking that the pool was closed, the fitness center closed, the arcade closed, and the water park closed.

The location is great, but I would NOT return or recommend until the place is renovated and basic necessities are available.

Final comment: after checking in we received a welcome email from the GM. I responded 2 days in (Sunday) inquiring about the lack of basic kitchen/bath amenities and never received a response throughout the week. The only message I got after checkout was a request to post a review of our stay... pretty sad.

We stayed at the Galleria for a week. The 2 bedroom suite we stayed in was updated with nice furnishing and 3 large screen TVs. The large dining table was very useful because my daughter and I both worked remotely and it provided plenty of space to spread out. WI-FI worked fine. Water pressure was nice and we always had hot water. The kitchen did not have paper towel, dish towel or dish detergent. You have to bring your own or use dish washer exclusively. The bedding and bath towels were new and good quality. Overall our suite and the entire facility were very clean. The resort is dated and the indoor sports complex is very old and appeared to be not in operation. The arcade and movie theater are for younger children. the Galleria is conveniently located between Jack Frost and Big Boulder ski resorts. A short drive to each. If you are interested in skiing or snowboarding, the Galleria maybe a good option for you. The staff was friendly and helpful.

In 2002, I got involved with a 20 year lease for a two bedroom unit in what is now called the Town Center at Split Rock Resort. It was not a Marriott but it was the Poconos. Activities were constant and varied .. never a dull moment for any age group. About 10 years ago, things started going downhill .. the Activities Director left for greener pastures and the physical facilities also deteriorated .. Nothing happened at the outdoor pool any more .. some years there wasn’t even a lifeguard ..
About two years ago, Bel Air Collections bought Split Rock and started renovations .. they did not understand that owners bought specific properties in specific Galleria (Town Center), Willowbrook and Westwood. A two bedroom in the Town Center that comfortably slept three couples now had two twin beds, two twin sized Murphy beds that doubled as the sofas in the living room and a king bed in the master bedroom ..
I usually travel alone so that really did not affect me .. however, Bel Air imposed a resort fee of about $25/day/bedroom .. after paying the annual maintenance fee, any addition fee is painful at best .. it’s supposed to cover amenities but all I used was the outdoor pool and WIFI which was decent this year ..
I agree that the stocking of the units was incomplete .. this year I had no washcloths or kitchen towels, no paper towels, no dish liquid or dishwasher detergent .. I asked for these items in person at the front desk the first and second day and finally got someone to answer the phone late on the second day and the items were delivered and hung on my door about 15 minutes later .. I agree with previous reviews that no on answers the phone .. it doesn’t matter whether you use the phone in the unit or your cellphone … you’re lucky if it goes to voicemail .. sometimes it just says Call Back later.
During my week, the Town Center was evacuated twice due to what happened to be cooking issues in the units .. same thing occurred in 2021 during my week ..
The last weekend, there were two family reunions and an MMA event which seemed to overtax the short staffed facility .. I did not leave the property because I was afraid to lose my handicapped parking space .. I went to the Bistro for dinner only to find a buffet had been substituted for the regular menu due to short staffing .. it was OK but disappointing..
I do want to emphasize that everyone of the employees was very pleasant and I would rate them at least 4 stars but that being said, I have to give the entire week a rating of ONE star .. find somewhere else to stay .. I so glad my 20 year lease is over ..

I was able to find a deal on the all inclusive package at a great price, and I am very glad I did. The hotel was much nicer than you would expect reading the other reviews and the food was actually really good. The hotel does seem like it could use a bit more manpower but we visited in the middle of the winter during a global pandemic so I will assume that is only temporary. The room I got in the willowbrook section of the resort was very spacious and had a full kitchen/ living area separate from the bedroom. The bathroom even came with a jacuzzi tub. Overall a comfortable place to relax.

I had a great time dining at the lake view tavern. Rose was the best, she's went out of her way to ensure my large group was taken care of and that we had a truly amazing time. Our drinks were attended to the moment they ran out and the food was perfectly timed to come out hot at the moment we were through with each course. We had a large party and she handled it with ease. That dining experience was truly the best part of our trip. Rose really was an excellent example of how awesome this resort must be during normal conditions.

In regards to the large amount of negative reviews it seems a new company has taken over the hotel and the current timeshare owners are very unhappy with how they are being treated. I understand their frustration but to any non timeshare guests looking to come spend some time at this resort I would definitely recommend giving this place a try if the price is right.

I booked an overnight stay at Split Rock Resort for Saturday, June 12, 2021 – Willowbrook One Bedroom Suite with Spa Bath – for $259.92 via Booking.com. My confirmation email indicated that the check-in window was from 4-11:30 PM.

My first complaint is that signage for the Town Center (check-in location) was poor once on resort property. My boyfriend and I arrived at the hotel at approximately 8:15 PM following a day of whitewater rafting on the Lehigh. When I gave the woman at the front desk my reservation name, she immediately turned away to speak with someone in the back. Although I didn’t think much of it at the time and couldn’t overhear their conversation, I found out later that they had double booked the room I reserved… We were given room keys for 1111D which was located in Building 1 of the Willowbrook buildings. When we attempted to use our rooms keys to enter, the light flashed yellow and the door did not unlock. We could hear a TV playing and a child’s voice from inside the room. When we called the front desk to ask about the key malfunction, the woman who took our phone call accused us of having put the keys next to our cell phones or other cards with magnetic strips. I assured her that the keys were kept in their original envelope until we entered the building. She presented two options: “wait for security to deliver new room keys” (which would take a while since they were reportedly helping another guest) or “drive back to the Town Center to pick them up ourselves.” We requested that security delivery our keys and we were instructed to meet them in the lobby. We waited several minutes and my boyfriend decided to drive to the Town Center to expedite the process. While he was gone, I received a voicemail from the front desk stating that they had double booked the room and that security was on their way to deliver keys to a new room. We were escorted to our new room, where we found a large spider in the shower, stained tub, broken fireplace, no cell service, and a horribly uncomfortable bed.

Needless to say, I was very disappointed in the customer service of this establishment and the quality of our stay was less than stellar. I would not recommend this resort to anyone looking to stay in the Lake Harmony area and they will not be receiving my business again in the future.

I can understand inefficiencies, and can empathize with the impact of limited staffing, but the complacency, dishonest and limited communication, lack of cleanliness, and overall poor management are impossible to overlook.

While staffing limits the ability to work through rooms in a timely manner, the likelihood of rooms not being ready until 5-6 PM on the day of check in is a fact in talking with the hotel staff and guests who have stayed at the resort before. If this were communicated, I would have planned for it, but it wasn’t so we got stuck waiting in a lobby for hours. No offer of a place to change, credits for food or games, or anything other than “come back and check” was offered. When I did check, I was told our room was being inspected and it would only be 15-20 more minutes. An hour later, I was told the room wasn’t even started yet. Abismal check in and start process. This also meant that I had no idea the map or lay out of the property because nobody explained anything to us, outside of what floor our room was on.

When we got to the room, there were no towels, no cleaning supplies, a single linen set even though we had 4 guests on the reservation and explained at check in that we needed the extra set for the pull out couch. The floors were sticky, and the air system had a dead ladybug and what appeared to be mold in the unit.

At the water park, the absent minded staff allowed my children (5 and 8) to “figure out” the surf system as one was flirting with a girl, and the other was playing with her phone. That was expected at the point in our stay, but when my son finished, the aloof girl at the bottom, still playing with her phone, was not watching him, and he got knocked over, slamming his head on the hard plastic and was swept up to the feet of Casanova still flirting with his companion for the evening. Neither cared, and so I made sure he was okay and we left abruptly at that point.

There were no food options for the room, only a buffet and a pizzeria whose phone was not working, so nothing could be figured out to actually provide food to guests without them serving themselves in a single location. Needless to say, we ate Wawa down the street because at that point I lost all confidence that any service provided by this hotel would be acceptable.

We left as early as we could the next morning, and in true split rock fashion, were forced to travel down a one way road because a Split Rock service vehicle was entirely blocking the road with nobody inside the vehicle.

When things are as bad as they are, suggestions are useless. This experience was abismal and nearly comical had it not been for the potential head trauma my son endured and the likely bacteria we breathed in the air even though all of the systems were turned off as soon as I realized the state they were in.

Best of luck with this hotel, I will never be coming near it again, and will be sure to alert anybody I know to never stay at the hotel for their own safety.

Arrived, checked in, and received the key to our room. After arriving at the room, we realized that the exterior doors did not require any type of card to enter the facility. Being two young females, this was worrisome. After opening the room door, all you could smell was tobacco and marijuana. So, now we have drugs and no form of security. We entered the room and used the phone to call the front desk to inform them that we did not feel safe and were leaving the facility. In the short time we were in the room, it was obvious that the unit was a complete disaster and needed much attention. When you check in, you will be surprised that there are cleaning fees, facility surcharges, and additional fees for the lazy river that is so prominently displayed in their website. To be fair, these charges are listed on the reservation but being new to the world of travel we failed to read the fine print. So, we paid all the fees upon checking in and left without even opening our luggage. Our cleaning fee was refunded but they refused to refund the facility fee of $186. We have since called 7 times to speak to a manager and thus far have received excuses and promised of a call back which has yet to happen. An email was sent directly to the manager (Giancarlo Gerini) and was never responded to which was no surprise. Additionally, after being fleeced of our money, we reviewed the local BBB and were not surprised by all of the negative reviews. If you plan on staying at this facility, you are welcome to Ignore this review, but I strongly suggest you review the BBB reviews before making a reservation.

First, in general we try to make the best of any situation we are put in but this place should not be considered a business, do yourself a favor and stay far away. Our first red flag should have been when we were booking and had to call 10+ times to get someone on the phone. We paid to add on breakfast which consisted of a couple small boxes of cereal, old coffee and juice left out for who knows how long. The rooms are dated which is fine but they are also not clean, the pull out sofa mattress is maybe 2 inches thick, the bathrooms are disgusting and the bathtub jets will kick on randomly throughout the night so even if you can get comfortable enough on your full size bed when you booked a king, you still will not sleep. Any time we tried to reach the front desk it took at least 6 calls to get anyone to answer and if you ask for anything, it will take at least an hour - well, good luck. We literally waited two hours for a plunger in our one bathroom hotel room and it was only delivered after we called a third time. None of the recreational activities is open but you will still pay $80 per night for resort fees - I’d love to know where this money is going because it isn’t into the resort itself. All of this itself is enough to make you want to stay but the absolute worst part is the staff’s inability to wear their masks properly. Everywhere you turn, someone will have their mask down below their nose if they have one at all. The water park is a giant cesspool and the resort is a covid breeding ground.

We have been this resort almost 14 years, even the resort is not new and with many problems. We still feel it is like a family place to stay. Old, and familiar.

The new management totally ruined my good experience with the resort.
1. The new management company charged a new fee called “resort fee”. I have two bedrooms, so they charged me extra $296.40 per week than before.
2. They let customers pay pet fee in advance to guarantee to have the room or resort can’t guarantee to provide the room for customer.
Last two years, I always booked the rooms which pets can stay in. I paid pet fee when I checked in. Pet fee means extra cleaning fee if pet stays in the resort room. If Not bring the pet, why should I need to pay for pet fee?
3. The new management doesn’t know what they are doing. Always add new policy.
4. If customer wants to complain the customer service and they won’t transfer your call to the manager l. They just told the customer the manger is not available.
