Everything about the wedding at the Cork Factory was lovely and well presented. The food at the rehersal dinner was excellent. Wedding meal and appetizers were also excellent. Parking was fun, but manageable. It is in downtown Lancaster, so typical of an historic town, streets are narrow and space is limited, so that pretty much explains the parking situation. I didn't hear of anyone at the wedding who did not find a parking place on site. There were two weddings that night. THE ROOM: we had a suite, which had a separate living room. I never found it on their website, but our sofa was a sleeper sofa. We ordered sheets, etc. enabling us to have a mini-sleepover for two grandchildren who are cousins. The suite was nice for little get togethers. The windows in the bedroom have blinds AND drop down shades to block the outdoor lights. It took us a bit to figure it out. The shades are like the ones you see in hospital rooms. Actually, very clever solution for the situation. Our room was quiet. I heard some hallway noise when people were yelling, but our door was probably open. You know how you move the lock thing over to keep the door open so visitors can come on in. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The wedding planner was amazing. For example, four bouquets instead of six were delivered, she took care of it. Less than an hour later the missing two arrived. The venue is a beautiful wedding setting. All the events were a short walk away from our room. It is quiet and inviting. What was there not to like? My only complaint was that with the brick walls next to the bed, I whacked my toes twice getting out of bed. Learned quickly not to extend my foot when getting up.…
To start, parking was limited due to a wedding. I reserved a queen room through Expedia, but arrived to two double beds. The receptionist fixed that without hesitation. My wife and I loved the room, however, you can hear everything in the rooms adjacent. We could literally hear what the couples conversation next door through the wall, but the hotel is very quiet walking through the halls and in the reception area. The hotel is beautiful and the staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
We booked to stay one night at the hotel and after checking in and exploring the area, we decided to stay an extra night. The hotel reception staff were great, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I'd highly recommend staying here if visiting Lancaster.
Quirky place to say - clean tidy and spacious the only downside is the dark rooms. Need better lighting. Beds slightly confusing with two double beds so we had a bed each instead of our usual king bed. Basic breakfast. Staff friendly. Bartender seemed stressed when we popped in for a coffee
The booking was only for one night. The hotel location is not the best BUT the hotel let me tell you is the BEST in town. Totally shocked with the everything inside, its beautiful. Check in was smooth and my room was gorgeous. Spacious and clean and just beautiful!!
If you stay more that two nights it is stated that your room will be cleaned. We stayed three nights and the second day our room was not attended to. This shows disorganization in regard to who is staying how long. When we asked for the room to be attended to we were met with resistance by one of the front desk men, while another woman working the front desk tried to be accommodating. Considering we had a family event and had a total of 6 rooms for the weekend I would think it would have been better service. Allot of unhappy folks working there. We are returning to Lancaster in September and will not return here.
Rooms are quaint, but noisy (loud ice machine in hall has no doors so you will hear it in your room, you will hear every step of your early morning riser neighbors in the creaky floors). Front desk a bit understaffed as they also take incoming phone reservations so you may have to wait a bit to check in). Morning coffee in lobby was delicious, but they may check you out by mistake and lock you out of your room like they did me. Nice Bigelow toiletries, but plastic cups made it feel like a low-budget hotel. Note of bed said they didn't change sheets except for over 2 day stays unless requested...for MY SAFETY. Very odd.. That made me question where a solo traveler, or family with children had safety issues in the past. I felt safe. No black out curtains, so lights from parking lot will fill your room at night through the wooden shutters. Mixed bag hotel.…
My husband and I spent two nights at the Cork Factory Hotel last weekend for a wedding. The historic hotel is set among a few buildings on a campus with ample free parking! We were in building 9, not the main building, so we didn’t have the amenities of the main building….lobby area with seating, coffee bar, and indoor access to the banquet hall. Our building was close enough that the other buildings were only a short walk. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and bathroom was well equipped with soaps, shampoos and fluffy towels. The room was a bit dark and could use more overhead lighting. There was no microwave nor full length mirror in the room. I think these should be added for a better stay in the room. There is also no restaurant on campus for breakfast. This would also be a nice amenity. Employees are very friendly and accommodating, some of the nicest I’ve met! We enjoyed drinks and food across the street at Quips Pub. Remember your ID if going in the evening. A lovely stay, but add the above amenities and it would be better.…
I received a 4 night stay here as a birthday present and could not be happier with the hotel they chose. Our room on the 3rd floor was extremely clean and very roomy. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the bathroom and bed , which was an issue in some reviews. We did not have any issues with the sounds from adjoining rooms, which was also a complaint in some reviews. The hotel was close to attractions and walking distance to restaurants. The staff were very friendly. Coffee is offered in the lobby every morning. Thankfully the cups are very big because the coffee was delicious. I would definitely stay here again.
"Amazing Historical Architecture Outside." Well travelled as I am, I seek out unique places. The Urban Place complex repurposed an old factory into an office, housing, and hotel complex. A part of the Historic Inns of America, this place looked ideal for me... away from the big chains where every hotel location has the same decor. The exterior architecture is outstanding. I love the brickwork and big chimney. The outdoor seating area has the a nice artwork display. The lobby is warm and welcoming. Sadly, the rooms are mediocrity at their best. I was truly disappointed by the spartan decor. The room simply had ONE picture on the wall...just one! The desk chair was plain. For the money, I expected a lot more in terms of interior decor. Furthermore, while this a restaurant for evening dining, there is nothing available for breakfast... Even most low end chain offer some form of breakfast. In summary, this place is probably great for ballroom events and lots of guests who are focused on partying and less on decor. However, for a world traveller in like myself, the spartan room decor says MEDIOCRITY.…
