I have stayed in this hotel twice with young children (once in the summer and once in the winter over the holidays) and had excellent experiences both times. The rooms are basic but clean, comfortable, and quiet. Mine had a fridge and plenty of outlets. The lobby is quaint and adorable with good coffee and tea at all times and popcorn in the afternoon and early evening. The staff is extremely nice. The indoor pool is also great and a nice size. To be clear - this is not a fancy hotel. If you want amenities galore, look elsewhere (and pay more). It is a well-priced, family-owned, lovely, charming place for families in a PERFECT location. And they have a cat named Gizmo who lives on the property - come on! The one thing I will note: the hotel offers a continental breakfast, but my family did not have it - we enjoy going out for hot breakfast while on vacation (there are many Amish buffets nearby, as well as a Waffle House, IHOP, etc). From what I could see the breakfast wasn't very robust, so if on-site food is something you want, take that into consideration. But the food all around Lancaster is so good that's not something my family cared about.…
Although the staff and management were warm and welcoming, the property hints at former greatness, but that may well be from the impact of Covid. The lobby was lovely with a fireplace and seasonal decor but the room was simple and barren. I came solo with a group and the other travelers complained there was one chair when their rooms had two occupants. The bathtub was slippery but there were sufficient outlets for technology. As everywhere there is no room service so the wastebasket started to overflow and you were given your towels when you asked at the reception desk. It's centrally located and that is a plus. There is a restaurant, but the food was fair to poor. I ate there for one group dinner and one individual dinner and breakfasts. Food was bland and uninspired but I found that in most area restaurants. Maybe once upon a time PA Dutch was a foodie place but not now. Breakfast servers were very slow. And it was cold both in the restaurant and lobby and room. I'd return but with lowered expectations.…
Very popular and very busy but staff very helpful. Rooms although dated were comfortable and the lobby very welcoming with free drinks and snacks . Downside was facilities for breakfast which was very loosely described as continental ( we clearly have not been there yet!) . Only 2 very small dining rooms for over 200 rooms mad breakfast a bit of a rugby scrum and food on offer kept running out with very few staff on hand. That aside good nights rest.
On the main highway so it is convenient to everything. Two-story hotel was quiet, clean and comfortable. We booked directly with the hotel and got a room with a balcony. Our friends booked through a travel site, paid about the same, but had an interior room. We went out, but breakfast looked like muffins and yogurt.
Came here with a group of friends. After seeing the pictures online we were excited to try out what looked like a quaint hotel. Sadly, it was more old and dated than quaint. The lobby was "homey" but dated. Overall the main building had a musty smell throughout. Two of my friends had difficulty breathing in the room. They had to check out 7 rooms before they found one that did not have as strong of a smell and didn't affect their breathing. One of our rooms was in the second building. I read a review that it was a slightly long walk. I can't say I agree with that. It takes about a minute to walk from one building to the other. What was confusing is that the room was a 400 numbered room but those rooms were on the second floor. More confusing is when you step off the elevator and read the signs as to which direction your room was in, they were wrong. Found the room and happy to say it was not musty smelling. However, the bathroom sink was slow to drain (filled even when simply washing hands) and there were ants crawling on the table. The room was definitely dated but it was clean. A big positive, in my opinion, was that each side table by the bed had electrical outlets on the wall just above them. That made charging cell phones easy. Another positive was the front desk staff were friendly and helped answer any of our questions. The bucket of chocolates was a nice gesture too! The lobby has 2 seating areas to enjoy. Coffee, tea and popcorn were available to the guests. Bottled water was available at the front desk, upon request. All in all, it was not terrible but, unfortunately, it is not a place I would recommend to friends coming to the area.…
Full disclosure, my daughters though she was booking Country Inn And Suites, This ain't them. The property is located off the roadway and not clearly visible from the street. When you pull in it it is just a tired looking motel in the middle of the parking lot. The lobby is dark and overfull with Americana. The front desk staff was not overly welcoming and she ran though the beverage and dinning information so quickly that neither of us knew what time breakfast was served. We were assigned a 400 room. That is not the fourth floor, it is the second floor of building two located a slightly long walk or in our case move the car from the front building. We were given two keys, only one worked to access the building. Again, entering this building was like entering a cave. VERY dark, no clear signage. Our room, again very dark. The building has a wrap around covered porch with rockers but the end result is no natural light in the room. 2nd impression of the room as a moldy smell. ( the front desk said there was no mold, the smell was there because people used the A/C (Huh???) No "hotel" book in the room, but was in the drawers were socks and under ware from a previous guest. SO the big question is how clean was the rest of the room? This was also brought to the attention of the front desk, no apologies, no rate reduction, we were told that they were there because the hotel had a major upgrade pending. HUH??? There are two many options in the area, give this one a skip.…
We found a live bed bug and upon searching for more, found others. We were mortified but discreetly made the front desk aware. The receptionist wasn’t “rude” per se but was also not as friendly, empathetic or apologetic as she should have been. I agree with other reviewers about the smell in some areas as well as needing updates here and there but those are minor compared to this issue and the mental and physical inconvenience it caused us. The general manager (I believe) did contact us back by calling and provide a full refund. We weren’t quite sure what to expect when we heard from her but she was very sweet and understanding. I don’t believe we received the bed bug report (via email) as promised though. We were told we would be getting one very soon after the room was evaluated. We still love Lancaster and plan to visit again but overall this was an unfortunate situation.…
This hotel is located right beside the very busy road and it is hard to get in or out of the property. It is old and needs serious updates. It does NOT offer a microwave or mini fridge in the rooms. I had to have them switch my room so that I had a refrigerator. The mattresses are lumpy yet soft and it was hard to sleep on them. I took a vacation with my wife and two sons aged 7 and 12 years. The "breakfast" was a bare minimum and do not count on them having much. The selection is meager at best. That said the pool was clean and fun. This property is beautiful yet in a bad location. There is not much for a kid to enjoy here.
Extremely disappointed. Beautiful property. Rooms need to be updated. Shower head didn't work, only hand held. Poor lighting in unit. One light and outlet not working. Offered complimentary breakfast, nothing more than packaged muffins, apples and coffee. Wouldn't recommend.
The hotel is well maintained, the room was comfortable but it didn’t have a refrigerator. We used the pool during our stay, and we ate at the restaurant that’s on the premise one night. We stayed here because it was close to Dutch Wonderland and it wasn’t expensive. I would recommend staying here if you don’t mind having a basic hotel experience.
