Louis checked us in and was very accommodating. He made sure we knew where to park and where to go to get to our room. He even offered me water, which was wonderful, since I felt so dehydrated after my long drive from Fredericksburg, Virginia!!

Hotel's Favourite
It was a nice place to stay, very clean and quiet. Rooms are very homey and cozy. I felt like home. My kids used outdoor pool and we were allowed our dog in a hotel. There is a plenty of room outside to walk your dog. It is a bit of the drive to the Lancaster attractions but since hotel room was so cozy we kind of stayed around in the area. Beds were very comfortable too.

Room Tip: It is about 20 mins of Lancaster itself. We did not see any Amish buggies.

Response from chad coble, General Manager at Heritage Hotel
Responded Oct 3, 2023
Good Morning Jean! To clarify our policy which was told to you upon check in is that if you are staying less then 3 days housekeeping stay over service is done by request. You also received fresh towels twice a day during your stay, which you requested, and every single time it was also offered to have your room cleaned to which you refused. My apologies that you took us telling you that you had to request housekeeping stay over service as us refusing service to you, I will relay this feedback with our staff to be more clear when relaying our policies to our guests.

Would definitely recommend if you prefer interesting smells, remarkable decor, beds you can basically step out of, and not one, BUT TWO entrances that look like lobbies, but aren’t. This hotel is a maze, in the midst of a "remodel", which seems to mean, "just move things around and confuse the hell out of folks, while no discernible updates or construction being completed". The bed was 12 inches off the ground - warning for anyone with a bad knee or hip! And it creaked beyond belief - no funny business or you’ll wake the front desk staff! The microwave was yanked right from the 90s. The TV was nostalgic to the time when high definition made its debut… and somehow they get have channels that don’t even exist anymore. Talk about a perk! The view out the window is stunning - a *dog food* plant covered in unnecessary lights! The drop ceiling in the bathroom was a lovely touch, complete with harsh fluorescent lights of all shades and sizes. "Come to Heritage Hotel, where you can have your *very own* lighting store right in your bathroom!" Oh, and did I mention the hideous theme restaurant attached to the front, obscuring the entire hotel? The huge parking lot with no lines? The 14 different places to park? The elevators from 1930? The hallways that seemed to be 1/2 mile long? Want breakfast?? That’ll be $10 each. Now, this is all assuming you decide to stay if you’re lucky enough to get a room with strong evidence of significant building subsidence. It was a fun lottery on Hotwire. Won’t be back until at least the remodel. But honestly, lipstick on a pig at this point. Best of luck to those who dare.

Since COVID they do not clean room, which is fine. If you need clean towels, you leave the dirty towels outside of the room and they will give you clean towels outside of your room in a plastic bag. If you run out of toilet paper…good luck. You have to walk down to another floor and go to the front desk to get it. Poor service! I would never stay here again. How do they not have someone on staff that can deliver a basic service to the room! Room were clean overall.

My husband and I just got home tonight from a two-night weekend trip to PA and Amish Country. The tour company we went with selected this property for our accommodations. The website made the property look pretty decent and therefore we looked forward to staying there. When our tour bus arrived for check-in, a young lady from the hotel entered our stopped bus and after explaining the hotel luggage dropoff procedure, "kindly" advised that if we need more toilet paper in our bathrooms, we will have to show our empty cardboard roll to the front desk for proof we are out of toilet paper and in order to receive a replacement! Welcome to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, folks! This is how we were greeted after traveling on a bus for over 6 hours! The room itself, 221, was quite clean. The bathroom was small but workable thanks to the shelf space directly below the mirror as well as the open vanity, and there were plenty of clean towels for our use. We had two double beds, a mini-fridge and a microwave. Since we weren't in the room often during our stay, its condition was more than good enough to suit us. Now the real fun begins. #1: The next morning, my husband and I went to Loxley's, the on-site restaurant, to take advantage of the breakfast included with our stay. The food was very good-typical breakfast buffet fare. As we were finishing our meal yesterday and enjoying the Sirius XM 70s on 7 music playing throughout the restaurant, a middle-aged female blond server came to our table to tell us that since we appeared to be finished, we had to leave the premises since they were busy....and we could hang out in the lobby and drink coffee if we wanted to! Our dishes had just been cleared and we were actually debating if we were going to have something else. After the server's veiled threat, decision made; I promptly marched back to the buffet for some yogurt and sat back down to eat it. I later informed my tour guide of the issue who advised the restaurant manager, who agreed the server's actions were inhospitable and she would be spoken to. We were given two $10 vouchers to use in the restaurant or bar during our stay which we appreciated. Then this morning, while we finished up our breakfast, a blond middle-age female server-wearing a mask this time-came by our table and softly said "Get going-only kidding". I thought I misheard her because after yesterday's breakfast shenanigans, it seemed surreal. However, when discussing the matter later with fellow passengers, a male passenger who was in the restaurant with us confirmed hearing the server say that as well. Unbelievable. #2: At approximately 11:15 PM last night, after leaving the bar to return to our room, my husband and I both noticed the back lobby security door was propped fully open....and apparently had been that way for hours. This is an obvious security and guest safety issue. And people apparently took advantage of the "open door" policy, because after we returned to our room and were settled for the night around midnight, we heard several male voices in our hallway and loud bangs and slams. We suspected there was an altercation among the parties. We further learned from someone in our group that there were approximately eight guys congregating in the back lobby who may or may not have been guests. The group member, who stepped out for a quick nighttime smoke, confirmed the door was still propped wide open well past 11:30 PM. Compromising guests' safety in this matter truly makes me feel uneasy. #3: The smell of marijuana wafted through the second floor lobby and even in some guests' rooms throughout our stay. My husband confirmed smelling it in the hall but our room escaped any active odors. Some group members were not as fortunate and wasted no time reporting the matter to the front desk. The members were told by staff that they couldn't stop guests from smoking weed in their rooms; PA is a medical marijuana state and therefore the staff has no right to tell guests they can't "take their medicine" in their rooms. Ironically, each guest room has a little plaque proclaiming their 100% non-smoking status! When this was brought up, the staff member responded that smoking weed was okay in rooms "because it's not nicotine". So folks, if you stay here, know that marijuana, non-nicotine cartridge vapes and clove cigarettes are obviously welcome for inside consumption since apparently per the staff, the no-smoking sign doesn't apply in those cases. We loved the PA Dutch area and had a wonderful time in spite of the hotel's shortcomings with the staff (restaurant manager excluded); but if the tour company returns to the area next year and have any intention of staying at this property, we will likely pass up a return trip due to our very recent and disappointing experience.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night after being at the Penn Renn Faire. We have stayed at this hotel twice before, but this is the first time I’m leaving a review. I wanted to leave a review because I wanted to state how great this hotel is! The room was clean, the bed linens were clean, and, most importantly, the bathroom was clean. The beds were so comfortable that my husband and I got a wonderful night’s sleep. There is a great restaurant attached to the hotel that we highly recommend. The breakfast buffet, while not free, is absolutely wonderful. Waitstaff was fantastic. This is a great place to stay if you are in Lancaster!

I have been staying here for years to go to the dinner theater next door but no more. First of all, when I went to check in, the young man at the desk did not get up or greet me in any way. He was very unfriendly. I asked him to speak up as I could not hear him but all he did was let out a big sigh. Not how one wants to be greeted. Now as to the room. A positive is that it was clean. except for the tv remote which was so sticky I had to sanitize it. However the room is dark and the carpet badly stained so do not walk on it in bare feet. The breakfast, which is an extra cost is just plain terrible. Nothing is seasoned and at 8:30 am they were already out of a lot of food (breakfast available until 10). Do not pay for this breakfast but eat at one the restaurants close by. I did speak to the manage about my greeting and she was very nice.

We planned a mini-vacation with our grandchildren to Lancaster. Our grands were very excited as they had never stayed in a hotel before. We looked for one that would be close to the attractions that we wanted to see, was not too expensive and had a pool. The children love to swim and they don’t have a pool at home. The Heritage Hotel seemed to fit the bill. As my husband saw that one hotel noted their pool was closed, he called Heritage to inquire about the status of their pool. He was told it was open. In considering the extremely hot weather, we built our days around the pool. The plan was to go out early and go in the pool in the heat of the afternoon. When we got to the hotel, there was a sign on the door stating that the pool was closed due to maintenance. We inquired about the status and were told a maintenance person would be out the next day. One day in the pool lost. The girl at the front desk did not express any remorse for the situation. The next day, we had an early outing but my husband asked at the front desk about the pool. He spoke to a different girl at the desk. She said they were still waiting to hear but she did apologize. It occurred to me that we should cancel that night’s reservation and go to another hotel with a pool, so when we returned to the hotel, I asked to speak to the manager. I was told there was no manager on site. I explained my request to cancel and was told by the same girl as the first day that she could not authorize that. I suggested she call someone who could. She said she could not do that. She offered to give me the number of someone I could call the next day. I noted that at that point we would have stayed the night already. Now, I understood that it was no one’s fault that the pool had turned green, but I received absolutely no concern and no recourse. In the morning, again there was no manager present. I did try calling the number I was given 4 times and when it went to voicemail, I was kicked out each time. At that point, I tried calling the front desk several times and got no answer there either. I gave up and we left. This was not a life problem but it certainly did impact our vacation. The most bothersome part was the total disregard for the dissatisfaction of a guest. That aside, the hotel looks tired, there is no towel rack nor fan in the bathroom. The bathroom mirror and lighting are insufficient for putting on makeup. The room, however, was relatively clean and the bed was comfortable. Kudos to the cleaning/maintenance staff. There is no breakfast offered but there is a discount on breakfast at Loxley’s, which is attached to the hotel. The restaurant was the best part of our stay. The food was good and the wait staff was very pleasant and helpful. In my opinion, skip the Heritage Hotel but do go to Loxley’s restaurant.

This hotel seems to be used primarily for motor coach senior travelers. White Star Tours must get one huge kick back for putting their clients here because I can’t imagine choosing this property by your own choice. It is off the path from all of the usual Lancaster attractions and it is stuck in the 1970s era. Nothing about it has been updated. Small bathroom and small TV. The plus side is the rooms are clean. Choose a different property for your vacation time in Lancaster!!
