The rooms have modern amenities without ruining the historic details (as in these rooms have REAL keys).
Cleanliness is very important to us and this bed and breakfast is pristine. Special orders are considered for the breakfast and no one leaves the dining room hungry.
My husband and I hope to have another event out that way to stay there again!
Location very convenient to Lancaster, and for great food I recommend Prince Street Cafe and Rachel’s Cafe & Creperie in the downtown area (watch out for street sweeping, lol) and Upohar (great Central African meal). Loved the bus tour with Amish Farm and House, and dogs are allowed to ride too! So lovely to get away and soak up the beautiful countryside.
The main house is warm and welcoming. Lots of tall ceilings and beautiful mouldings. Lots to appreciate in the decor. The dining room was very inviting with coffee and tea offerings of many varieties. Outside, many comfortable seating areas and tables for gathering outdoors on the wide porch. We actually enjoyed a nice bottle of wine with a great cheeseboard and watched bunnies chasing one another across the lawn. So peaceful and relaxing.
Our Hosts Dallas and Pam were so friendly, and nothing pleased us more than knowing they both genuinely enjoyed caring for their guests. Dallas would join us for conversation during breakfast. Which was delicious by the way. Hot fluffy pancakes, blueberries and cream, an amazing sausage and banana muffins. Yummy from start to finish. And Pam graciously offered seconds if anyone wanted them.
Our cottage room was so well designed. The bed was very comfy (a huge plus because I am quite wary of beds other than my own) and the pillows that perfect balance between supportive and soft. The multi head shower was a real treat. Along with the jetted tub big enough for two. When we first entered the room it took us both a moment to notice the toilet area itself wasn’t enclosed, so Thankfully we found the decorative wooden screen that was stored in the closet😃. But that also just added to the charm. The cute little table set for two in the corner was ideal! And the lighted window, that doesn’t open, gave just the right low lighting touch.
Honestly, I just can’t say enough good things about our stay. Everything was wonderful. I even took some amazing photos of honey bees climbing on the beautiful flowers near the side steps.
Our heartfelt Thanks to Dallas and Pam for making our weekend getaway so memorable!
First when I looked at the website it appeared like the place was totally booked which gave me feeling of being popular and I chose this place on that base where in fact we were the only couple most days of our 6 nights stay when looking at the pictures of the cottage it looked like a good size room what a surprise to find that the table that supposedly allowed to have breakfast delivered to the room could only accommodate one person even though there were two chairs but one was blocked by the very heavy armchair however the worst part of it was that there is no door to the bathroom area meaning one open space I don’t care how long one is married I don’t feel like going to the bathroom a front of my spouse grouse! Pam’s explanation was that they had to do it that way for the wheelchair however there is no way you can get through the front door with the wheelchair or maneuver in that room so it is strange design they provided a screen for privacy?!?!Seriously!!!
The breakfast was okay however one day it was oatmeal which my husband won’t eat he was not offered anything else I gave him my toast the last thing was the place is right next to very busy highway with heavy traffic starting 5AM super noisy they do allow dog in the cottage but no real space to walk the dog so it was disappointing experience
Our first trip to Marietta and probably the last
