I chose this hotel because it was CHEAP, close to Harrisburg International Airport, and reviews here & on competitor’s websites were largely positive. Let me start by saying the gentleman who checked me in was friendly & efficient and wished me a good stay. The hotel is quite antiquated & I believe it MAY be populated by a transient population. I personally experienced no problems with this, but the immediate hotel grounds are sketchy looking. This hotel is a retro hotel and pretty dilapidated. The window blinds had cracks in them, no deadbolt on the door (flimsy chain lock only), old looking bedspreads and curtains, paper thin/dingy looking towels, cracks around the tub/shower tiles. Lightfixtures from the 60's. The floors were some kind of wood laminate or lacquered plywood that felt somewhat sticky to my bare feet. On the plus side, they do have the room well equipped with a coffee maker, small fridge, small toothpaste AND 2 toothbrushes, soap/shampoo, an iron/ironing board, big widescreen TV and cable, modern charging station adjacent to the bed, and the heat worked well. The bed was ok, the pillows were poor. (I pulled the bedspread off the bed - while it might have been clean it was just too retro/old looking for me to trust it’s cleanliness). I did not use the shower or any facilities other than the tv. I slept ok because I was exhausted. It is obvious that the cleaning staff does a decent job of keeping the room as clean as possible, given the quality level of the hotel/room. I will say it was quiet here overnight, and the area surrounding the hotel is not "sketchy" as there is really nothing much around! It would be very hard to find at night without GPS. If you are looking for a very inexpensive hotel in the area & have no need for the safety/amenities provided by most chain hotels, you may like the place. They seem to be trying to provide good value at a low price.

The fella at the front office is super duper efficient and nice. I found the amenities to be considerable: flat screen TV, alarm clock, blow dryer, microwave, frig, coffee maker, A/C, iron/board, towels, toiletries ( including TOOTHBRUSHES), ICE MACHINE, ice bucket, cups. WiFi signal is fantastic.

The sink water was hot, but the shower water fluctuated between tepid and room temp.

There is on site laundry which is probably where all the hot water went.

NOTE: You can't use the blow dryer and microwave at the same time or it will trip the breaker.

This images of the property on this site are accurate.

When we drove up we were ready to leave, but when we got to our room we decided to stay. Room was okay needs updating. It was a quiet night and the hot water and heat worked fine. The place filled up by nightfall...so don't judge the book by it's looks.

Canceled when I saw the outside of this establishment. It was very run down and I instantly chose different accommodations for the 9 of us. Think we even lost money bc the cancellation was the day of when we drove by. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple of extra bucks somewhere else.

This motel is really something special. Looks like it was built in 1954 and renovated in 1974, but it's nice, truly, very clean and comfortable. The price is unbelievable, the location is nice, and the staff is excellent. Like taking a step back in time, where you're treated like a customer, and the building and room invites you rather than insults you. The doors have normal locks that use a key instead of a card, and don't lock behind you. The showers are something you haven't experienced in decades. There's no room service, there's no overpriced food in the lobby, just friendly folks and a nice room. So if you need a place to stay for a mere $40 (at least that's what I paid) and you long to be treated like an adult instead of an idiot, take a look at Highland Hotel.

THE Room was filthy, Found mouse droppings in bathroom and behind fridge and sink along with rotten bananas and other food,Under the bed i found a condom rapper ,old half eaten yogurt container full of mold, old moldy cereal, half drank water bottle etc.The room had a musty urine odor..The light above the sink had 4 of the 7 bulbs missing and a wire running from the back of the outlet behind the mirror to the fridge . Turn the lights on and watch the bugs scatter.Management promised to clean up everything but only vacuumed under the beds, i picked up everything else. The place is scary, don't believe the other 2 reviews. find somewhere else to stay !!!!!

The room was a little smaller than I had hoped but it was only me so it was adequate. The room a microwave and fridge and a brand new tv. The property looks really really old but it seems the owner is making renovations constantly. There was a very large vending machine in the lobby, and ice was far away from the room. My stay was great but finding this motel was a hassle at first.

I stayed here for a few days for work. I was very impressed with Eric who is the manager at the hotel. I had a late start during my work days and most hotels won’t bring new towels or clean the rooms if a customer is there during their cleaning times. When i came back to the room in the evening. I had fresh towels daily, garbage was emptied and room had been cleaned up. What an amazing person that I am thankful for her hospitality. I couldn’t ask for better service.

I haven't been back to PA for a few years but I've stayed at this place on a few occasions . The lady checking me in was always very nice , the rooms are always clean and well kept . Last time I stayed there was for a whole week and none of the things the one reviewer complained about happened to me . I'm actually planning a trip within the next week and going to spend a couple nights there .
