This is a friendly yet private community. We purchased a home 7 years ago sas a ski home. We quickly discovered that we love being there all 4 seasons. The fall is excellent for hiking and horseback riding. There are so many beautiful places to explore nearby. In the winter, Camelback is a fantastic family resort for skiing, tubing, and the water park. There are also skating ponds that very popular. We spend the spring and summer on the lake and at the most amazing gigantic pool. The kids love the slide and the dual diving boards. Friends join us all four seasons too. They have tennis and a pickle ball court that are fantastic. I don’t golf but the view of the course from the restaurant in beautiful. The community is well maintained and the staff communicates any changes or information regularly. I am really happy that we chose this community for our vacation home. It’s really a perfect fit for an active family.

My husband and I spent countless hours looking for the perfect community in the Poconos prior to purchasing a vacation home. This is it!! It definitely has a different vibe than many of the other communities in the area. It is quiet, peaceful, serene, immaculately maintained, and clean. The HOA dues are about 5x the next highest dues for a community in the Poconos, but you get what you pay for. I would not consider any other place if I were interested in a quick ski getaway, a family centric summer lake holiday, or an avid golfing excursion. Highly recommend!

First visit to course. They are doing extensive irrigation work throughout the course which caused a lot of holes and significant soft spots throughout the course making playing conditions on several holes difficult and sometimes dangerous. Course is not very long and several holes have long forced carries. There are 6 holes each for par 3,4 & 5 (par 72.). Restaurant closed and pro shop a bit lacking. We played on a coupon rate which was good since full price would not have been acceptable. If the course was fast and firm it might have gotten a better rating. Lots of good golf courses in Poconos to choose from so this does not rank high on that list.

We stayed on property in this community as potential buyers. We are looking to sell our primary residence (NY) and current second home (PA) for a "forever" home in the mountains. A college friend of our daughter's told us about Pinecrest years ago and we have been eager to purchase or build a home.

First problem: despite copious lots and "phases" still available, we were informed by a phone call to the office that we would have trouble building a home and being in it in our time frame (three years). We have to buy an existing home.

Second issue: The homes for sale in the community are gorgeous. And come with a HEFTY bill. We didn't discover (probably the fault of our realtor) that the taxes on the house we intended to put an offer in on were $8,000 a year. Dues were another $6,000. And that is before you are required to spend $500 at the "clubhouse" on food and drink.

Third issue: No security! Come spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on your new home and dues and taxes and moving but....NO SECURITY?!?!

Fourth issue: The office wasn't open at all during our three days there. We were potential members and homebuyers looking to ask the people in charge about the community and the building was dark and locked. I called this morning and was informed I could make an appointment to meet with an agent of the "trustee" Monday thru Thursday from 10am-3pm.

Fifth issue: No lights. Talk about a curfew.....we couldn't imagine having pets here; how do you walk them after sunset?

Sixth issue: Rudest staff I've encountered in a while. Tennis; no one knew anything about the facility. It was as though they had just opened for the very first time. Pool: We were treated like intruders. The employees clearly couldn't be bothered to smile let alone do their jobs. Golf course: Kids running the pro shop. Chef seemed competent but food was boring. I don't expect a hot dog to be a featured lunch item at an exclusive country club. Waitress was competent but alone- service was slow. Woman in charge (no name tag) wouldn't answer my questions about membership fees and told me to make an appointment for a less busy time.

Positives: The golf course itself is very well kept. The carts were operational and the golf challenging. The clothes in the pro shop are cute and current. The roads are [mostly] paved and landscaping is lovely.

I don't want to abandon my dreams of this picturesque neighborhood, but they need a serious change in management before I give them one penny.

As a homeowner and member of Pinecrest Golf and Country club Community, I am sickened by the treatment my husband, mom and myself were subjected to on Monday, August 3, 2020

I am sharing my concern as a current member and one who, until this incident, was in the process of purchasing another home in this community. I ask anyone considering a vacation of permanent home in Pinecrest Golf & Country Club to strongly consider if putting your family’s safety and well-being at risk, is worth the investment.

Thank you for your attention and below is my account of the incident:
As a homeowner in this community, I am appalled at the treatment that I received on Monday, August 3, 2020. My husband and I decided to go on a bike ride. We accidently went down the golf cart path and was met by a man on the course who proceeded to scream on the top of his lungs, using disgusting profanity and thrusting his clubs at us, yelling for to “get out of here.” During his scathing rant, he asked if we were members / homeowners and when I calmly told him that we were, he laughed and said, “Oh I highly doubt that” and immediately said that he was going to call the cops and clubhouse. Because we accidently went down a wrong path? Never in my life have I seen a grown man act with so much unnecessary hate, disrespect and anger. Would he appreciate someone yelling at his own family in that manner? As a West Point grad and retired military officer who fought in Iraq and risked my life so that he could treat me that way was BEYOND UNACCEPTABLE. More so, I am a human being and do not deserve to be treated like that, BY ANYONE. When my family went to file a complaint the clubhouse, we were told by the assistant manager (who refused to give us her name) that he was in his right because we shouldn’t have been on the course. Were then questioned again if we were actual members and that she wasn’t going to do anything about it. She then said “you people are always trying to escalate things”. NO WORDS!
The fact that this man is a member of this community and a community that condoned this behavior is reprehensible and unacceptable. Many people in our professional and personal networks ask if we recommend Pinecrest Golf & Country Club and I will now say NO and tell them my experience. No one deserves to be treated the way my husband and I will be treated, and I am frankly embarrassed to be a homeowner in this community. I will also continue to spread the word within the community that this is how members are treated.

We purchased a Crestwoods Townhome in 1998 and used it as a vacation home until 2005. In 2005, we sold that home and built a single home which is now our full time residence as we retired in 2010.
Pinecrest is a lovely community.....many we have met are warm and friendly.
The staff at the Clubhouse, Office, Golf Course and Swim Club are helpful and pleasant.
Pinecrest does have an Association Fee, as many communities do in the Pocono Mountains. That association fee gives you full use of the Swim club, the Tennis courts, the beach, the walking trails and the restaurant. The association fee also provides trash pick-up, garden debris pick up as well as snow removal. This is a benefit not provided in many surrounding vacation communities.
The Association fee is NOT $6,000.00 a year as stated in a recently posted review and there is NO minimum at the restaurant.
We are delighted with the grounds crew who keep the community beautiful and are delighted with all aspects of our Retired Life here at Pinecrest Lake!

The lake was closed for two days when we visited due to the high bacteria count. This may be the result of the staff throwing the piles of goose poop from the swimming dock directly into the water - when they have a chance to clean it. The roads and trails are lovely. The pool staff is officious, and make it clear that the clients are an imposition. The annual event for members was cancelled due to a conflict with the members. There are very few activities here.

A perfect place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the pocono mountains. The golf course and clubhouse (under new management) provide good golfing and food. The atmosphere is inviting and very inclusive.

It would be great if they varied their menu a little bit but I understand that they have a limited customer base because it’s a closed private club. I think there is great potential to make the restaurant profitable given the lack of fine dining options in the area.

In the scenic area of the Poconos, this development has a challenging golf course, beautiful pool (not heated), scenic lake, small gym, tennis courts and a mini gym. Some locals live there full time while others make it their vacation home. Residents are always friendly and the clubhouse again has a new chef who is very good.

The community is not gated but I have seen a security guard at night. We feel very safe there.
