My wife and I shopped around for b&b s when making advance reservations for coming to Charleston. We factored in things like location price amenities comfort and the reviews and concluded that 1837 was our best bet. We weren't disappointed. The owners and the staff were really friendly and engaged to help anyway they could. We had good conversations with...

Check in process was fine. Stayed in one of the coach house rooms. Room was OK. A little noisy from adjacent guest rooms, but generally this was not a problem after about 10:30. The breakfast was very good. Location was reasonably convenient. Staff were friendly and knowledgable about area and attractions. If you don't like walking, maybe find a location...

My friend and I were looking for a reasonably priced place to stay for a last minute girls trip to Charleston - and 1837 hit the spot! Here is why I would reccomend this B&B to anyone: -IDEAL location, you can walk ANYWHERE in 5-15 minutes. King Street, Broad Street, The battery, Colonial Lake, etc. - Parking was never an...

The location is great and Matt was very helpful with suggestions about tours and plantations. But a few changes would make this place more appealing. First of all...cleanliness. On the surface things look good, but the baseboards and other woodwork are filthy. Breakfast is adequate, but not super yummy. And they close the parlor at 8 p.m.; so if you...

Nice location, close to lots of shopping and dining. Rooms comfy and clean. Biggest problem was parking at the inn...there is hardly any. Website tells you to bring a small car, and one car per room. They only have 6 small spots onsite and 3 spots off site..a lot of sorts accessible by a "clicker"...I never got to see it...

Dear Megan W, I truly appreciate your feedback. My only wish is that I would've liked to hear these comments while you were with us so I could've immediately rectify it. For your information, we have one parking space for every room, but they are not assigned to specific rooms but rather are taken based on first come first served....

Enjoyed our stay at this sweet B&B. Loved the homemade breakfast every morning and sitting on the porch for tea time with other patrons. Liked location- quiet street but 5 min walk to downtown. Wouldn't say it is a luxurious room- it's a very old home- but for the price, everything was spotless and functional. Liked blue and yellow decor!...

One of the main reasons why I like B&B's is because of the interaction with the owners. At every B&B I've stayed, the owners ran it and were excited about it and their visitors. At 1837, the owners employ a manager rather than run and interact with their clients themselves and I really missed this especially as the current manager...

We so enjoyed staying in room 301 during our recent Spring Break visit to Charleston. The room was charming and the breakfast and afternoon tea were wonderful. We especially loved the frittata and home-made lemon curd on the fresh fruit. The afternoon tea and sweet treats were a great way to relax on the porch before heading out for dinner....

The owners of this B & B are very friendly and helpful. Our room, 202, was very clean and comfortable. More than enough room for 2 people. The stairs are outside and no elevator.
