My wife and I stayed here three nights on our first visit to Charleston. We stayed in the carriage house upstairs in room 12. The main reason this inn only gets two stars is the lack of comfort in the room. The room was large, but sparsely furnished with two uncomfortable chairs so we spent three evenings sitting on the...

We spent the first two nights of our 2 week roadtrip at this B&B. It is well located and has a plus (free parking in the rear). The rooms are a bit eclectic in style and have the quirks one often finds in B&B's in historic areas. The breakfast was adequate and was as advertised. My only real complaint is...

This was our 7th trip to Charleston's Barksdale House and they continue to improve the accommodations. They totally remodeled the back of the building over a year ago. We like the quaint antique(real... not fake) look throughout. The friendly atmosphere is created by the staff who go out of their way to make your stay feel like home.

Delightful bed and breakfast, good location. Clean, quiet, and a wonderful breakfast. The staff, especially Hannah, Alayna and Barbara were most gracious and they did everything possible to make our stay comfortable in every way.

Good location, but Inn and staff do not live up to potential. Overall feeling that Inn is a bit worn and could use some regular maintenance. Holes in blanket. Black mold in tub caulking. Staff, while friendly, did not make an effort to answer questions about location of local restaurant or where one could find a barber. Answered simply, "I...

We chose the Barksdale for its location near the historic district of Charleston also the availability of a king bed and at a reasonable price. We were not disappointed even staying on the 3rd floor was not a problem for us. The breakfast had a wide variety of offerings and filling for a morning of sight seeing! We will definitely...

We have never been to Charleston before and picked this B&B (really an Inn) due to proximity to historical downtown. Room was average, pillows were very uncomfortable and lighting in the room was poor. Breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly but didn't really go out of their way to go above and beyond. lots of noise from King Street...

We stayed two nights at Barksdale on our way to Florida. We had our cat with us. Room was on top floor and was a bit of a hike with luggage and necessities for our cat, but the overall stay was enjoyable. Loved the furnishings. Rooms were clean. Beds were comfortable. Breakfasts were very good! Location was in walking distance...

A recent History conference took me to Charleston, South Carolina. I knew I did not want to stay at the conference hotel, a perfectly upscale small city on King Street. When I looked around for nearby places with a lower rate, I found the Barksdale Inn on George Street. The Barksdale is a three story Victorian Bed and Breakfast. It...

What a charming B&B, made even better by the excellent and caring staff. Elaina was so helpful and welcoming on the phone. When we arrived Hannah and Shanequa were gracious and warm. The housekeeping staff, Sara and Barbara kept the place immaculate and their breakfasts were something we looked forward to each morning. They take great pride in their jobs...
