My husband and I recently had a 5 day break in beautiful Charleston. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to stay. The location was wonderful, with many great restaurants and sites all within walking distance. The staff were all friendly, helpful and welcoming, be it the reception staff, serving staff or housekeeping staff. There was the added...

We loved this Inn (3 nights) perfectly located within easy walking distance of all of the downtown attractions and restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was on first floor but still quiet. Room was decent size, bed comfortable and bathroom fine, though our room (#107) needed more light. Breakfast area very nice though a bit small for...

We had a great time here for our anniversary! They surprised us with champagne in our room on our first night. Continental breakfast helps to offset the rate and they will even bring it to your room. It was a fun place to stay. Loved shopping on King Street. We enjoyed it!

The Inn is in an ideal location of King Street. It shows its age and wear in places, but is clean and everything works. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking is right outside the hotel. We had a fireplace in our room and it was hard to tell it did not have real logs. It turned on and...

Just returned from a two night stay. The hotel is a nice mix of historical building with current finishes. We originally walked in to the sister property next door (Fulton Lane Inn), but as they had no rooms, they re-directed us here. A room had been cleaned room, but not yet “inspected” so Cissey (sp?) cheerfully began the check in...

This lovely bed and breakfast inn has a lot of charm and a warm, friendly and accommodating staff. Our room was spacious, but since we were traveling with our dog, we were limited to a few "dog friendly" rooms, so we were required to use stairs to access our room. Not a big deal, except when carrying luggage. The beds...

We were in Charleston for a long weekend and stayed at the Kings Courtyard. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and the hotel had a kind of unusual layout (in a good way). The location was convenient. The only issue we had was figuring out where to park the car in order to check in. It turns...

The staff is super friendly. The rooms are very clean and cozy. They have nice little court yards with fountains to relax and drink wine and sherry they provide. One of the best things about staying here is the location! You can walk to almost anything you want to see in Charleston. I would highly recommend staying here for a...

Great hotel choice for a historic visit to Charleston. Convenient to many galleries, restaurants, the market and walking distance to lovely historic homes. Room 109 has a king size four poster bed, gas fireplace and private courtyard, very charming! Having the continental breakfast delivered to the room was a great perk and so was the wine and cheese reception every...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1853, Kings Courtyard Inn is one of downtown Charleston, South Carolina's most historic inns. Architect Francis D. Lee designed the three-story antebellum structure in the Greek revival style with unusual Egyptian detail. The building is one of King Street's largest and oldest structures, and has had many uses during its 150 year existence. The building has housed high quality shops, private residences and at one time, the upper floors served as hotel rooms for plantation owners, shipping interests and merchant guests. Kings Courtyard Inn is located in the heart of Charleston's historic district. The Inn maintains the residential atmosphere of lower King Street, and extreme care has been taken to ensure the necessary architectural and historic accuracy for which Charleston is famous. Each of the rooms has an individual distinction. All rooms feature oversized beds- some have canopied beds and fireplaces. Many rooms boast excellent views of the inn's interior courtyards. All hotel guests receive complimentary sherry on arrival and a morning newspaper delivered to the room. They also receive a continental breakfast served each morning in their room, the courtyards, or in the breakfast room. Kings Courtyard Inn is within easy walking distance of Charleston's historic homes, gardens, churches and only a block away from the City Market. Here, one may explore interesting shops or enjoy a delicious meal at one of the city's many delightful restaurants. ... more   less
