We were very impressed with the staff at this Inn. They were all so helpful and kind. The room was okay, but the mattress was really hard, and the chairs were not comfortable for relaxing. They include breakfast and a wine and cheese hour that are very nice. The location is excellent for touring the historic city. We parked our...

A lovely place to stay for 4 nights. Attentive staff- nice breakfast. This venue is well located in the city. Quiet at all times of the day or night. Afternoon wine and cheese and evening sherry are included. Very much appreciated.

My wife and I enjoy staying at historic inns and hotels. Our experience at Kings Courtyard Inn was exceptional. The service staff from the front desk to wine & cheese and breakfast were the friendliest we ever experienced. The room was spacious and clean. I highly recommend the Courtyard for anyone who enjoys historic inns.

Great location and very courteous, helpful, friendly staff. Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and cocktail hour in the evening. Room was a nice size and quiet. Bathroom was also a nice size but could be cleaner and had a strong musty smell. Wi-Fi was free but very weak, could never connect to the internet. With a little work this could be...

We had an unexpected free 4 day weekend and found Kings Courtyard on trip adviser. They had a room so we took it! The hotel is a bit old and not as well kept as we normally like but quite adequate for the event at hand. It was relatively clean and the staff was terrific! Heck in was easy and...

Of the two dozen hotels we've stayed, Kings Courtyard Inn is the absolute best! Clean, accommodating, friendly, - the best kept secret of Charleston! Free Happy Hour in the courtyard - helpful staff - rooms were B&B style, yet large, clean, and just perfect!+

The hotel is in a great spot and the staff are quite friendly. The little cocktail hour was a nice perk, even though we only were able to enjoy it for one of the nights of our stay. On the downside, our room was small, warn, uninspiring, and musty smelling. As others have said, it was also loud in the...

We arrived Friday around 3pm. We had our little Jack Russell terrier with us. They showed him so much love! We got settled into our very clean and comfy room then enjoyed their cocktail hour with other guests. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go and Charleston is a very pet friendly city. We would stay again!...

Loved this inn which is very well located on Kings Street in center city Charleston. Our room, bathroom, shower, etc. were nice although our mattress felt a tad old with clear slopes towards the sides. Continental breakfast included in our price was very good and included boiled eggs. They also offer complementary wine and cheese between 5 and 6 pm...

In April I spent five nights in this lovely hotel. The atmosphere and amenities are wonderful. My room was on the 3rd floor, It was a very attractive room with a fine bathroom, including bathtub. I loved: the coffee at 6, the very good breakfast, so nicely served. I love the layout of this hotel with it's European flavor. The...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1853, Kings Courtyard Inn is one of downtown Charleston, South Carolina's most historic inns. Architect Francis D. Lee designed the three-story antebellum structure in the Greek revival style with unusual Egyptian detail. The building is one of King Street's largest and oldest structures, and has had many uses during its 150 year existence. The building has housed high quality shops, private residences and at one time, the upper floors served as hotel rooms for plantation owners, shipping interests and merchant guests. Kings Courtyard Inn is located in the heart of Charleston's historic district. The Inn maintains the residential atmosphere of lower King Street, and extreme care has been taken to ensure the necessary architectural and historic accuracy for which Charleston is famous. Each of the rooms has an individual distinction. All rooms feature oversized beds- some have canopied beds and fireplaces. Many rooms boast excellent views of the inn's interior courtyards. All hotel guests receive complimentary sherry on arrival and a morning newspaper delivered to the room. They also receive a continental breakfast served each morning in their room, the courtyards, or in the breakfast room. Kings Courtyard Inn is within easy walking distance of Charleston's historic homes, gardens, churches and only a block away from the City Market. Here, one may explore interesting shops or enjoy a delicious meal at one of the city's many delightful restaurants. ... more   less
