We stayed at The Vendue for our 12 year anniversary. The location is great; it is walkable to the market, great restaurants, and very convenient near the waterfront park for pet owners. The hotel rooms are charming with wood floors and high ceilings. However, we stayed in room 145 and our bed was broken (the headboard was detached from the frame) and the a/c leaked from the ceiling all over the bathroom floor and vanity (be aware if you have makeup or toiletries on the bathroom counter). We called maintenance and complained to the front desk (their response was “sorry to hear that”, with no offer to make it right). I’m disappointed and we will be considering another hotel for future stays.
The location, amenities, staff, hospitality, services, grounds, price, and restaurant were all exceptional. I highly recommend this stay. My first time to Charleston in 30 years, and this stay made the trip amongst the best of my many travels. First, it's close to everything. Second, the niche art attraction is fun and fulfilling. Third, the bar, restaurant, and rooftop are second to none. The rooms were spacious. The fireplace gave great romance and ambiance, the staff are helpful and friendly. The costs are reasonable. It was just fantastic.
This hotel has been taken over with twenty something mobs of wedding parties or spring breakers due to rooftop bar!? Never ending line to get up there on elevator- really ruined stay in what is supposed to be a Covid- safe environment
We were so excited to be going on our first vacation in an extremely long time. Treating ourselves was a priority. The Vendue, at almost $300 per night, seemed to be the perfect place to start our time of rest and relaxation. When we initially walked into the main building we honestly thought we had made a good decision. The art work was phenomenal. At check in we found our room was not in the main building, but across the street at 26 Vendue. As we walked through the door , we were smacked in the face with a horrible, musty odor that rivaled a nursing home with unkept residents. The carpet was worn and dirty. Our room, was uniquely decorated with a retro theme. That's where the beauty of the room ended. The carpet felt wet all over with a large area that was visibly wet. Dinner plate sized areas where the color had been bleached out of the carpet were visible in multiple sections of the room. When notified, the hotel sent maintenance to extract the water. He tried to rationalize why the carpet was wet. Next we found a broken towel bar. The glass shelf in the shower was so wobbly the shampoo bottle would not set upright. After driving, I was looking forward to climbing into bed. While.it was obvious the linens had been laundered, stains were present. We alerted the staff to each issue. No one even said I'm sorry. We called later to speak with the manager and was assured he would call the next day. When the promised call was not received, we called again. This time we were told staff had had an extremely busy day. All I can say is....buyer beware. Don't make the mistake we did and pay 5 star hotel prices for what appeared to be an old, smelly, dirty by the hour motel.…
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Whoever says anything negative is absolutely bananas in my opinion. I was only supposed to stay for one night but I decided to extend my stay in Charleston and the staff at Vendue had a lot to do with it. The minute you walk in the door they make you feel like family. I left my room for 30 minutes and came back to a lemon cookie and my robe folded. The location, vibe, and decor could not be more supreme. It’s one of the best if not best hotels I have ever stayed at. Special thank you to Danielle, Rob, Howard (even if he’s from jersey) Bradley, deidre. And the rest of the staff. Lucy and I love you!!!!!
