We had our trip booked for last spring and had to cancel due to Covid-19. We were fortunate to be able to re-book out trip for March and spent two days at the Fulton Lane Inn. The hotel is very charming and has so much character. We stayed in one of the petite suites on the top floor.
We just left Charleston and the Fulton Lane Inn and we can’t wait to come back. This little inn was just delightful. The staff was very friendly and explained all the details that make this place so special. There is a cooler by the front door with cold water in it which is available at all times. Also the desk person can get you some coffee or a glass of sherry at any time. You also have a card where you pick your breakfast items that is delivered to your room each morning. We had a 2 room suite which worked out very well. My brother also stayed here and we could visit in the evenings. The bathroom was large and the soaps were very nice. The towels were huge. Our 4 poster bed was beautiful and the linens were smooth and comfy. In the evening there is wine and cheese at the sister inn next door. There was a choice between a red or white wine. There were 3 different cheeses cut in cubes and placed on a plate that was covered in plastic wrap (Covid protection). Crackers were available in individual sandwich bags. (More Covid). One night there was also homemade pimento cheese which was outstanding! Big Mike, I would love to have your recipe. Other nights had salsa and/or hummus. We enjoyed visiting with others and hearing about their activities. Fulton Lane Inn is perfectly located to walk everywhere. There are tons of restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk. I have a couple of suggestions. First, the inn’s entrance is on a lane or alleyway. There is no visible entrance on King street. It would help if you had a diagram of your facility on your web page. You could show where the entrance is and where to park in the rear and how to get there. It was very confusing for a first time visitor. Second, my husband and I both drink hot tea in the morning. The insulated carafe that arrived on our breakfast tray had hot water in it. This container has been used for coffee and therefore retains the coffee taste and transfers it to the water. Luckily, I carry my own little water hot-pot and I was able to heat water for our tea. Thanks for a lovely stay.…
Very poor service . Don’t find in the room, no coffee, not tea, not cups for hot beverages. Very very basic and not spoiling for the 300$ charge. The only advantage is the central location. On the main Street . Smells of an old storage. And not enough electrical outlets. To charge electrics.
This was our first experience staying in an older, historic inn. It was wonderful. We reserved one of the more basic rooms and it was very spacious. The room had a table with chairs and living area with couch and chairs. Breakfast was okay. It was nice that it was provided, but just your basic continental items to choose from. I loved being able to order coffee up to the room in the evenings with no extra charge. Location was perfect We were able to walk to everywhere. Tons of restaurants and shopping within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to the area. I chose this hotel because of the price and reviews. I'm so glad I didn't pay double for some of the other options. This was a great find!
If you like historic hotels with great renovation, this is your place. Right on King Street in the heart of the Charleston historic district. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Really loved our room. Close to shopping, bars, restaurants, etc. We'll definitely be back.
