Stayed here last August and had to check out early because the suite I was in was not clean. The sheets had not been changed from previous guests and I had to change my own sheets because they are horribly understaffed. Have been following the reviews and the manager, Daryl Kosiorek’s, continuing apologies and his claims that he would share comments with staff and would make things better. Hasn’t happened. Hotel is still unclean. Read the reviews on Marriott.com for recent status of the hotel. How Marriott (and the health department) let this place stay open is beyond me. In his replies, manager said to come and give them another chance. My bad because I trusted him not to lie and to have (literally) cleaned up his act. It’s particularly disappointing to me because I love coming to Charleston and staying here. I was one of the first guests when it opened in 2001. Never again for me and I would advise others to avoid this hotel.…
This hotel has been supposedly renovated but it is very dated. The fireplace was removed from the lobby. Big mistake. The lobby has this huge round ridiculous looking sofa. It is not a comfortable place to sit and read or just relax. Very bright lights. Totally not a place you’d want to spend any time. The rooms could be much cleaner. Because dogs are allowed many of the carpets and even the furniture have been chewed by the dogs. Pretty gross. There always seems to be some hair in the bathtub or on the towels. Cleaning needs to be at a much higher level, especially during Covid. Maybe this should be reported to someone higher up. Instead of a breakfast buffet they should do something different. People load up their plates with so much food it’s gross. I know this is not happening during Covid and the brown bag breakfast are pretty bad. But the huge buffet is also not great because people eat and take for too much food. The location works for us but I would most definitely go to another residence Inn instead of this one if it were available. I will keep looking. Furniture around the pool was in great need of replacement. This was about a year ago. Very hot in the workout room and generally no water available. This hotel needs some serious attention.…
Stayed here one night with family, Andrew gave us a gracious upgrade.Okay property,a little dated, nice room ,could have been a little cleaner, but we've been experiencing that with most Marriott properties we've been staying at lately.Bed was comfortable, Breakfast was very disappointing, very little selection for a Resident lnn, stayed with Marriott points , felt like way too many points for this property! Our biggest, most confusing experience was when we asked Sid,the front desk clerk, for complimentary bottled water and he told us Resident lnn's don't offer free bottled water and tried to charge us 2 dollars a bottle. Really?!We have stayed at over 100 Marriott properties and have always received complimentary bottled water.Oh well, thanks Sid !!
Folks heed the warning of all these negative reviews! This place is disgusting. We have stayed in many Marriott properties including Residence Inn and have never seen anything like this. We had mold on bathtub and shower curtain. Burned out light bulbs. Holes in the carpet. The sink was filthy with someone’s hair in one of the bathrooms. ( We stayed in a 2 bedroom) Our room was 316, so if they give you this room, be prepared for filth. The vents in the bathroom were full of dust. There is no cleaning here whatsoever. I did speak with a guy at the front desk, did t get his name but his tag said manager (insert eye roll) he is the most unpleasant uncaring human I’ve ever encountered at a hotel. There is no housekeeping service while staying here, we had to go down and get trash bags and towels. The toilet was loose in one of the bathrooms, so when you sit on it be prepared to go forward like your falling on your face. I will be in contact with customer cares as this property is not up to Marriott standards.…
I checked out a day early. There was so much mold on the shower curtain and there was no hot water if you showered early in the morning. There was no way that housekeeping could have missed the mold. Also there was no hot water if you shower early.
