The Charleston Place hotel boasts an array of exceptional amenities and a central location that guests love for its convenience to local attractions. While some travelers express concerns over the value, citing steep prices for parking and rooms, the hotel's service receives high marks for professionalism and warmth. The elegant atmosphere, complete with festive decor and live music, adds to its Southern charm. However, there are mixed reviews about room maintenance and noise levels due to construction and AC units.

This is the crème de la crème of Hotels…our family’s favorite hotel we’ve ever stayed, anywhere in the world!

The elegance, the entire Hotel…large fresh flower displays, Harpist in the lobby, and room just exquisite…and updated every aspect, modern outlets for all devices… want to turn all the lights on or off at the bed? You can! And no fighting for chairs in the room, there are four! Top of the line service, linens, carpeting, the entire bathroom shower and bathroom is Carrara marble. No detail left out! Reading lamps, choice of rain shower, or handheld, great bath products, fridge constantly stocked with water. The high end carpet really cuts noise from traveling. Great in room upper vent air conditioner. Cold and pretty quiet compared to other hotels.

Be sure to stay on 7th/8th floor for the perks of “club level” which includes exclusive all day offerings, including a breakfast buffet, wine and cheese hours, traditional afternoon tea, premium Hors d’oeuves and after dinner desserts.

Best location with King Steet and Market street right here. Restaurants and room service all on site…

Be sure to book a high tea experience at Throughbread Cafe!

When we stayed there was construction only audible in the lobby at certain mid day times and in their shopping restaurant wings (all on the main floor) The room was very quiet at all hours.

My husband and I stayed here for a wedding weekend and could not get over how perfect it was. This hotel operates like fine hotels used to. The friendly staff and service could not be praised enough. The staff, to a one , was so proud of Charleston Place it was a delight to hear them talk about its history and future plans for renovation and expansion by the waterfront. The lobby is breathtaking. We were greeted by the valet service and front desk like we were royalty.

The Deluxe King we stayed in was exceptional. The bed was comfortable, the linens luxurious, and bath amenities were high end individual bottles of yesteryear and not those awful things fixed to the shower wall. There were outlets, charging stations, and light switches everywhere. No need to hunt for them and take turns charging devices. They also provided turn down service nightly. Amazingly, this is a dog friendly hotel and we never heard a dog barking.

We were able to use their transportation services to easily get to the wedding, the reception, and other wedding activities and accommodated our other three couple friends as well. Going all together made the service more economical than a taxi.

While some may comment it is pricey, the very generous breakfast subsidy certainly needs to be considered.

In summary, this is the best hotel experience we have ever had and we have stayed at the best all over the world. We hated to leave this warm and welcoming hotel. We will never stay anywhere else when visiting Charleston in the future.

The Charleston Place is a wonderful hotel and my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. It exudes Southern charm and staff are great. They can’t do enough for you and are so friendly. The “snowfall” event was amazing. Anyone can attend, you don’t need to be hotel guests. The hotel is central to everything in downtown Charleston and felt safe. Food was good and I’ve never had room service delivered so hot and fresh. My few quibbles include thin walls and a noisy hvac system. Also, minor but the hairdryer was so old. For a room priced over $600 a night I expect an ionic dryer at minimum. The hotel is in the midst of renovation which is needed but I hope they retain the charm. Few hotels match the vibe and quality of CP and I look forward to future stays.

Charleston Place is an incredible hotel in the center of Charleston’s historic district. Our 5 star experience started at at the front door where the valets parked our car and brought our (considerable) luggage to our room - totally worth the valet charge as parking is at a premium in Charleston. Joe helped us check in and oriented us to their one block square property. Apparently customer service is their specialty. At the Concierge desk, Justus Rockwell first made sure I had distilled water sent to my room for my C-PAP machine, and then gave us a personally customized walking map based on our interests with some special local flavor like The Market, Rainbow Row, Philadelphia Alley (an old time dueling favorite) and Zig Zag Alley (again an old time (wealthy resident) seamstress area famous for the # of Zig Zag sewing machines buzzing away). The next day he assisted us in selecting our Plantation Tour and went so far above and beyond in making our stay one of the best my wife and I have ever experienced. I don’t often use the word, but The Charleston Place was awesome!

First the good news: The staff, especially Gabby, Rudi, and John are friendly, charming, efficient, and thoughtful . They elevated an otherwise mediocre experience. We booked Charleston Place because of its central location, and anticipated fine accommodations. We were given a room with various random pieces of furniture shoved in a line against a wall; a mattress the texture of a marshmallow, a tub so deep only a giant could climb in, and a toilet so low is seemed sized for a toddler. While waiting for our room, we had lunch in the dining room. Our $44 "Maine" lobster rolls had (maybe) a stingy two tablespoons of finely minced meat, no garnish, and was totally tasteless. Next morning at breakfast, my "gruyere and herb" omelette contained a slice of cheese but no evidence of herbs or seasoning, and roasted fingerling potatoes which were too leathery to even cut with a knife. Unbelievably, there was not even a slice of toast to accompany it. Toast was an additional order for $6! For our second night, we were moved to another room with a walk-in shower, so at least climbing in and out of the giant's tub was eliminated. We travel widely and often, and are happy to pay for quality and value. In this case, we received neither. We live near enough to Charleston to visit there often, but we will choose to stay elsewhere in the future.

Wow, really beautiful hotel! Very classy, very elegant, very… Charleston! The service is top-notch. You’re definitely getting a five star experience here from the moment you walk in. Absolutely loved having shops and restaurants attached to the hotel too (we used them all!). The rooms were just as elegant, Fabulous having a balcony, so we could step outside for fresh air and look down onto the courtyard. The beds were comfy. The shower and bathroom area is spacious and pretty, perfect for two people to get ready at the same time (no separate toilet area though, which would have made it even better). The pool was under construction when we went there so we never even got to see it. Apparently they’re redoing the whole thing. The location of the hotel is perfect… You can walk to everything touristy from here. This is a pet friendly hotel, so you’ll see a few people walking around with dogs in the lobby and in the thoroughbred bar. That was a first for me! But there was never any animal smell, and nobody had barking dogs. So grateful for that! Highly recommend this hotel if it’s in the budget! We splurged for this one. If you want to drop it down a notch, but still have a great location in the center of it all, check out Mills House Hotel. We stayed there first for a few days and that’s fabulous too (no room service though).

Our stay was wonderful. Our room wasn’t quite ready by the time we arrived, however our bags were taken, stored and then brought to our room and staged so all we had to do was grab our key and head to our room once it was ready. Water bottles were replenished daily along with the provided Nescafé pods which was a huge perk. All staff were super friendly and helpful. Although we didn’t utilize room or valet services, they were readily and easily available via a phone or QR code in our room. The location of the hotel is hard to beat, we parked our vehicle in the secured parking garage and didn’t need it the entire time as we were well within walking distance, or we used the provided bicycles. Wonderful hotel, clean rooms, definitely a luxury experience!

My husband and I were married in Charleston and returned there for our 26th anniversary. We chose to stay at the Charleston Place Hotel to celebrate the event. When we were checking in, Riley immediately wished us a “Happy Anniversary!” Justus the concierge gladly agreed to take our picture in the beautiful lobby to commemorate the occasion. Before we headed out for our evening, we stopped at the Thoroughbred Club for cocktails. Cat, our bartender, made my drink “not too sweet” according to my request. Later that evening as we were returning to the hotel, Mark the doorman, anticipated that we were guests and opened the door for us without a queue; we could proceed without a pause. He kindly greeted us and bid us “Good night!” The next night we had dinner at Meeting & Market. Renee, the manager stopped by to make sure everything was to our satisfaction (which it was!) Lauren, our waitress, informed me that I could order a glass of wine to take to my room, which was the best dessert for me. As we checked out, Grayce asked if we enjoyed our anniversary and thanked us for choosing to stay at the hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and were so impressed with all the attention to detail to include, but certainly not limited to: addressing us by name, acknowledging our anniversary, a chilled bottle of water and the TV remote on the nightstand and slippers by the bed with turndown. This hotel exemplifies hospitality!

Exceptional service, incredibly beautiful property both lobby and sleeping rooms. Wonderful, curated shops to appeal to every age group. Best location in Charleston. A crown jewel of downtown. The decorations for the holidays were outstanding...even had snowfall three times a night outside. Attention to details at this property are meticulous...and I'm a former hotelier so I notice small details.
