The suite was perfect. Roomy, comfortable and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. What really made this stay special was the attention by the staff, taking care of every need, and even beyond. A perfect location for visiting historic Charleston. This is my fourth stay and won't be my last!

The French Quarter Inn might be the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The location is perfect for exploring the historic part of the city, the staff were extremely helpful and the rooms were quiet, clean, comfortable, and beautifully furnished.

The free evening wine and appetizers was great with a variety of wines available and a wide selection of cheeses, cured meats and many other options.

The breakfast buffet was of a much higher standards than any other hotel I've stayed at with choices to suit all tastes, including cooked items, yogurt, granola, fruit, cheese, coffee, tea, and many other options.

The outdoor patio was beautiful and reminded me of an Italian piazza.

It's hard for me to imagine there's a better hotel in Charleston if you want to be in the historic downtown area.

I cannot praise the French Quarter Inn enough. They have thought of every single detail to exude southern hospitality and charm. The breakfast, the drinks, cocktail hour, housekeeping…. even milk and cookies before bed …amazing. We slept like babies as the bed and pillows were perfect! They even had complimentary perfume which was a great air freshener… Our room was straightened and restocked every morning and evening… bottled water, tea, coffee, seltzers always available. They really went above and beyond!!

Jessica Bowman & Lynn Maher, and their teams provided us with personalized, memorable service! The Housekeeping staff offered additional supplies although what was in the room was very adequate. The Wine and Cheese in the evening had a nice assortment of nibbles. The breakfast was offered “in bed” ,delivered to your door (big hit for my group) OR in the lobby: pastries, fresh cut fruit, etc. all nicely presented. Park your car and settle in for the weekend. We voted to come back for our next annual get together.

This was by far one of the best hotel experiences we have ever encountered. We were travelling with 3 young children and as soon as we arrived, staff did whatever possible to make our experience an excellent one. Our room was spacious, the hotel had an excellent breakfast for all of us that was plentiful and delicious and we enjoyed the cookies and milk and brownies in the lobby every night. The location was perfect, right in the middle of downtown Charleston and within walking distance to all major locations we wanted to visit. The hotel has an old-world charm and it is extremely clean. Special shout-outs to Kim and the front desk staff who gave us recommendations of where to eat and what to see daily. Also, thanks to Ben for always helping with our bags and to the housekeeping staff - wow! They even left our kids M&Ms every night on the desk in little containers. The beds were very comfortable and they even have a pillow concierge where you can choose from 7 different types of pillows. Our room was the best part - we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast on our terrace every morning and a coffee at night, watching the views of downtown Charleston. I cannot thank the staff enough for making our first time in Charleston an amazing one. We are already planning our next trip back to the French Quarter Inn.

A 10/10. Family trip with two young children. We have traveled a lot, in Europe, Asia and America, and we can say that this hotel is Top-rated: full breakfast that can be on the terrace or in the room, water/lemonade that you can take from the lobby whenever you need (which you take without having to order, something very important since if you have to order it, it is not the same, it is embarrassing or you no longer order it directly), in the afternoon they offer cheese/wine at no extra cost, and in the evening milk/cookies that were also included and that we had in the lobby room after having been all day walking (super nice, we talked and we summarized what we saw that day), the staff is VERY FRIENDLY, from the people who are at the entrance as the people who clean the room, you do not feel observed (in many hotels of this category everything is so posh that you feel uncomfortable). Cleanliness, comfort, location... all excellent. On our way we were left a sample of the air freshener in the room, so that once at home we could remember our stay (as we have done, and it brings back very good memories!). Our review completely matches the opinions we read before we went. Congratulations to the hotel.

We were greeted with champagne, which by the way you can get that along with bottled water any time per request. Every morning we had a buffet breakfast which is served 6:30 - 10:30. Scrambled or hard boiled eggs, strawberries, melon, apples, bananas, all sorts of muffins plus cereal. I’m sure I’m leaving something out. Hot coffee- regular or decaf, plus hot water and tea bags assortment are offered 24/7. Here’s the best part, there’s plenty of half and half or low fat milk in pitchers in a tiny refrigerator if you don’t want the individual creamer, plus sugar and artificial sweeteners including stevia.
After breakfast they set up non sweet ice tea and lemonade (I love to mix!) and ice cubes. M &M’s are available all day long.
Your room is cleaned every day along with turn down service in the evening, and they will leave chocolate squares and water. You can store the water in your mini frig. More than enough towels available.
From 5:30 - 6:30 is their happy hour: cheeses, crackers, crusty bread, salami, almonds and wine. At 8:30 cookies with port or wine is served.
We were so spoiled! Everyone so nice, loved our room and location too. Never had to use our car.
Kudos to Jonathan who went out of his way to be friendly, always smiling.
And when we left, we asked for some ice for our cooler and she filled it halfway up without hesitation! Again, everyone so nice. Even got to meet the general manager Carlos, you can tell he takes pride in the hotel.
No where else in Charleston do you get this level of service and amenities. We even liked their sound machine that I had to order one for home!

It barely suffices to say that French Quarter Inn was perhaps the best place we've stayed in our many years of travel. Mind you, they're not the glitziest...unless you consider a multi-story tall Christmas tree ascending through the middle of their beautiful circular staircase/atrium glitzy. They're not the hippest...unless you consider complimentary wine and charcuterie hour hosted by the friendly, happy and dynamic Erica hip. They're not the cheapest...but then they include continental breakfast in the lobby or hot breakfast delivered to your room, free snacks and beverages all day long, the previously mentioned charcuterie and wine hour in the evening and cookies and milk at night, in addition to all the surprisingly tasty canned (not plastic bottles) water you can drink.
Some specifics:
Location: overlooks the Charleston city market and within a 15-20 minute walk of everything you're going to want to see on the peninsula, but within a 5 minute walk of the stuff you're going to want to see more than once, including enough restaurants within 5 minutes to eat at a different one for every meal of your stay. It's also on a side street, so while it's a few seconds walk to the hustle and bustle, you don't feel like you're fighting the crowds getting in and out of the Inn.
Ambience: clean, family friendly (no pets), quiet, secure, well lit. Hanging out in the lobby is encouraged, it's a comfortable space, surprisingly private even when full during the snack times and a great way to enjoy some quiet time without feeling confined to your room.
Comfort: they have a pillow menu for gosh sake. Firm mattresses without being hard, great climate control, plenty of space, large bathroom, sizeable armoire for clothing, turn down service in the evening with chocolate and water left at your bedside.
Service: Southern hospitality at its finest. Professional, friendly, helpful, positive and patient are the predominant traits amongst the staff you'll encounter. In fact, those pretty much sum up every person we came into contact with.
This is a place that is built around a nice concept but is wildly successful because of its people. It should be a case study in how to offer the ultimate in hospitality at a generous price.

My husband and I had the pleasure of spending a couple of nights here to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we arrived and throughout the stay it was a wonderful, welcoming experience. We were greeted with champagne at check in by the friendly reception staff and had a wonderful surprise bottle of champagne and personalized note waiting in our room to help us celebrate. The accommodations were great, housekeeping perfect, the complimentary breakfast was tasty and the other complimentary offerings of beverages throughout the day, wine and even warm delicious cookies in the evening added the perfect touch. I would definitely recommend this lovely hotel and plan to return again!

The French Quarter Inn is our go-to place to stay whenever we visit Charleston. We decided to do a little winter get-away this year and once again, FQI did not disappoint.

The room was beautiful, spacious, and spotless and the bed was comfortable. There were Deep Steep products in the bathroom. We enjoyed their clean citrusy scent.

As always, we enjoyed the food offerings (breakfast, afternoon cheese, meat, snacks, and wine,) fresh-baked cookies and milk at night, and chocolate for the turn-down service. This was our fourth visit and we feel FQI has upped its food game, especially at breakfast - hot eggs and a fresh-baked offering (one day it was a cheese and chive popover, the next blueberry muffins) along with all the other continental breakfast offerings.

We also really enjoyed the lovely fireplace and spent many toasty moments sitting near it. But the best part of the stay was the staff - friendly, welcoming, and with a smile and a greeting from everyone we met.

We chatted with several other guests and we were not the only ones who were return visitors. That says a lot about FQI and its level of service.

The hotel is well-located and an easy walk to all that Charleston has to offer.

Thank you for another great visit, French Quarter Inn. We can't wait to stay with you again!
