I am not one to ever write reviews, but we had such a good time staying at the Zero George that I feel compelled to...from the hand written notes, attention to detail, awesome surroundings, great food and bar and wonderful service, the Zero George is definitely a one of a kind experience in Charleston. It will be our go to from now on!
We chose Zero George for its small size, beauty, isolated rooms with verandas, strict COVID policy, and location in the historic district. We agree with the positive reviews. Specifically, and to address some reviewers' issues: Contactless entry -- text/email confirmation the day before. Wte were escorted straight to our room and had assistance with our luggage. Immaculate, spacious room. We did bring our own pillows, but only out of personal precaution. Housekeeping is only by request -- not a problem. If we needed something (ice, trashcan emptied, etc.), the response was prompt. We enjoyed having a simple breakfast delivered to the room. Eating on the veranda was a relaxing way to start the day. Guests shouldn't expect an elaborate breakfast menu during these restricted times (though I'd suggest not chilling the waffle syrup). The complimentary wine and charcuterie was also an enjoyable treat late in the afternoon. We grudgingly accepted the valet parking as a part of staying in a city with limited parking areas. We walked everywhere in the historic district (and really appreciated the large umbrellas!). If we needed our car, it was brought promptly -- and the valet wore gloves! The highlight of our stay was the tasting menu dinner with wine pairing -- a birthday indulgence for my husband. We were seated outside on a veranda. The menu is one for those who enjoy small portions of creatively prepared food. Several reviewers mentioned the street noise. Yes, we heard the traffic while sitting outside, but we're used to that from home. I wasn't aware of traffic noise at night in our room. If you are very sensitive to traffic noise, you should request a room farther away from E. Bay St. For us the open layout and privacy of the veranda room was worth it. My only other suggestion would be to provide a brighter reading light. Even on its full setting, the bedside lamp was a bit dim. Perhaps there could be a brighter bulb or a reading light behind the corner chair.…
Just a perfect jewel of a property nestled in the heart of downtown Charleston. From arrival on, the ambiance invites you to relax and enjoy. Multiple seating areas on the verandahs and in the garden. Daily delivery of breakfast. Coffee all day, wine and charcuterie in the evening. Everything about Zero George helps one to unwind and slow down. And the culinary experience is first rate...make an effort to enjoy the Chef's tasting menu! Easy walking distance to the shops on Meeting and King. This hotel is definitely worth a long visit.
Zero George is an Idealic getaway! They literally do everything right. All of their spaces are so well thought out. From porches to gardens, it’s difficult to decide where to have your next perfect glass of wine.
The atmosphere is historically romantic, the breakfast is WAY more than a continental, its wonderful. Service could not be better. Should be a 5 star hotel. We will definitely be retuning to stay with Zero George.
