I reviewed this hotel back in 2018 and said I would always return when in Charleston. We've since returned twice for 10 day stays, most recently October 2023. The rooms, restaurant and pool are still top notch as I indicated before. I just want to mention Jennifer, the manager, who went above and beyond to make our stay most pleasant. The ladies at the front desk, Margaret and Vantrelle, were so personable, often calling me by name, that I felt I was a guest in their own homes. Marsha, the lunchtime hostess, was so accomodating and took care of our every need. One evening while having a drink in the lounge, an older gentleman was clearing a table and I thought how nice of them to give this man a job. My wife, much more perceptive and intuitive than I, said that he was probably the owner. I said no way, that the hotel was most likely owned by a large corporation. She was right. The owner came in to help out. It turns out that he is a well known hotelier in Charleston owning prestigious properties downtown and West Ashley. He was also seating people for Sunday brunch. When he drove away in his black Bentley, I found it humorous that I thought he was a poor, older man struggling with a menial restaurant job. It became obvious why he has employees who have worked for him for 35-40 years. Like Tommy, a beautiful woman who mans the omelette station on weekends who we met on past visits. The hotel is well maintained, a nod to good management. But the personality of the hotel is due to the dedicated and sincere people who work to make every guest feel welcome. Caring is reciprocal and permeates the atmosphere and attitudes of everyone associated with this hotel.

We were in town for boyfriend's medical procedure at the hospital and I picked this hotel due to cost, high marks for cleanliness, and the convenience of an onsite restaurant. We were given a room at the back (not the annex) and it was great. It was so quiet. No road noise, not really any people noise either. The only time I heard anyone above us is when it was being vacuumed. Our vehicle was parked right in front of our room so that was nice too. While they did not clean the room during our entire stay, they did provide clean towels upon request and if we set the garbage out, that was emptied as well. Because we booked online, we were given a $15 voucher per day for the restaurant. That worked well for our breakfast, which was convenient. Not sure the hours of their bar because I didn't see it open. Overall, I would stay there again because it was so lowkey and right off of a main street and 526 (a straight shot to the airport).

We stayed here while in town for a wedding. The location is very convenient - a short car ride to all of the attractions and there are several restaurants and shopping areas within walking distance (although the immediate area isn't designed for walking). The rooms were good with comfy beds and nice sized bathrooms. The windows do not open. The hot water was "variable" - that is, it was there one minute and gone the next. There is a restaurant on the property and a lovely pool. The property is well maintained and all of the staff were helpful and friendly.

Room accommodations were nice with a comfortable bed and good seating. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. There is no complimentary breakfast which would have made the stay nicer. There is a restaurant in the hotel. The drive into historic Charleston is not far and the price point of this hotel is much better for how nice the facilities are. They are also conference capable.

Stayed at Town & Country Inn in West Ashley, SC and was very disappointed. The location looked good on the map but getting out of the parking lot was a traffic nightmare. Had a terrible time sleeping because the room temp would automatically crank up to 75 degrees in the middle of the night, waking us up! Mornings were rough as they don’t offer complementary breakfast or even a cup of coffee in the mornings. They advertised a $15 voucher for the restaurant instead, but failed to honor it once we got here for our multi-day stay. They must not value the family clientele as it was not family friendly. My breakfast consisted of a $9 bowl of cornflakes while the neighboring tables held a full volume conference presentation in the restaurant as I tried to wake up from my terrible night sleep. If you aren’t part of their conference crowd and not on business expenses, not a place to stay! Will take a while to recover from our visit!

I usually don’t write reviews for hotels, but in light of all the great reviews for this hotel, I thought that this hotel would be a “safe” bet. If you’re on a tight budget, the hotel is fine, but if you can spend a little bit more, I recommend booking elsewhere. We were given a room on the first floor. When I asked for a room on the second floor, the receptionist said that they didn’t have any available. She didn’t bother checking the computer system to verify. Based on the cars in the parking lot, it appeared that the hotel was at 20% capacity at most. The walls are paper thin. You can hear everything in the adjacent rooms, people in the hallway, and doors slamming whenever anyone comes in or out of their room. Our cable TV did not work at all, and apparently, we’re not the only guests with the problem because someone else complained to the front desk. We didn’t bother using the daily $15 voucher because it’s for dine-in only, excludes tip, and only one voucher can be used per day. With $9 for a bowl of cereal, the voucher is not going to get you much. We felt like we were staying at a motel, with our room facing the parking lot. The room did not feel spacious to us. If all you care about is a cheap, relatively clean room over your head for a night or two, then this hotel may be okay. For us, it was a disappointing stay.

This seems to be a very popular place, judging by the full parking lots at night. The AC was fabulous, and the room seemed very nicely appointed. I used it for rest and sleep as I was able to have them during my visit to the area, and didn't have any problems. I enjoyed the space, appreciated the air conditioned hallways linking the buildings, and found it very helpful to be so near a grocery store and some restaurants. This is a good place to rest, that seems well managed and properly tidy, which is what I needed. The location made it fairly easy to get where I needed to be, no matter which part of town, and my gps didn't have to struggle to direct me in and out.

Comfortable, clean room, good location, good price. Delicious hot breakfast. We were given a $15 voucher to use in the restaurant when we checked in (for booking directly with the hotel) . It defrayed the cost of breakfast which was welcome since breakfast is not included. Overall a good stay and we will be back! Staff was great.

Based on all the good reviews, I was looking forward to my stay here. However, I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. I didn’t realize how old the hotel is. I thought I was at the wrong location when I pulled into the parking lot. The room assigned to me had a musty smell, the bathroom sink was cracked and both door handles were separating from the bathroom door. The front desk lady offered to move me to another room when I mentioned the issues with the sink and door handles. My main purpose for bringing these issues to the front desk’s attention was to make sure they were aware of preexisting damage to the room so I would not be charged. I found out that they were already aware of these issues, but they are still renting the room as is. The lady at check in was cordial. However, the young lady at checkout needs additional customer service training. She was very rude. She did not smile when I approached her. She simply said “How can I help you?” in a nasty manner. After turning in my keys, she asked me if I wanted a receipt. I said “Yes, please.” She handed me my receipt. I said “Thank you.” She said absolutely nothing. How rude was that? The proper thing would have been to ask me how my stay was, thank me for staying there and to ask me to come again.

It is unfortunate that we did not meet your expectations during your stay with us in July. As a top-rated Hotel in Charleston on TripAdvisor – and the highest rated Hotel by far in the West Ashley market – we are disappointed that you did not feel welcome and comfortable. We do appreciate your comments, and these issues have been addressed.
