My sister and I really needed some time away and we wanted some luxury time away. We booked three nights at the grand Bohemian lodge Greenville 10/26-10/29.
I am going to try to write this review without crying but, I can't promise anything. I can start by saying that I had the most incredible time of my life in these three days. First, the hotel is absolutely stunning. From driving up and being greeted by the valet, who actually open the door with a smile to Kwame, the front desk attendant who treated us like family, to the housekeeper, who was so detailed and professional, and Allison, sweet Allison, who kept our room stocked with goodies, and never complained about delivering room service, even if it was, just a Ginger ale!

The hotel looks like something out of a palace in a Walt Disney World live action series. I mean, it is absolutely beautiful. From the eccentric indigenous large lodge decor, to the jewles and lighting embedded in stones, to the beautiful jewelry that's on display, the stocked library, the plentiful seating! The lobby is full of floor to ceiling windows and doors that flow right out to the river. There is incredible art for sale in the gallery and a baby grand piano that serenades each and every guest from afternoon till night!

My sister and I stayed in room 521. The room was impeccably clean, and no details were left to be desired. We had a Falls River view and we could hear the stream all day and all night long. The room was salted with 12 foot ceilings, which made it pure much larger. The bed linens were pressed/steamed, and you could pop a penny off the sheets! The room was perfectly stocked with everything that we needed for our stay, including robes, slippers, the absolute best soaps and shampoos and conditioners, and the list goes on... At one point, my sister, and I thought that we were on the entire floor by ourselves because we did not hear a peep for our entire trip until the very last night with someone finally open the elevator. This hotel is certainly built to last!

The Grand Bohemian owed us absolutely nothing at the end... I just booked a weekend for my parents to enjoy... I couldn't help it!

The hotel is very impressive and beautifully situated on the Reedy River Falls in downtown Greenville. For the most part the service was very good but we experienced some misses- we made reservations at their restaurant “Between the Trees” for lunch before we arrived . We called the day before our arrival to see if we could make the reservation for four people instead of two and were told we had no reservation showing and there were no spaces available. Not sure what happened we made reservations at an off property restaurant. Then once we arrived much to our surprised we started receding texts alerting us to our reservation which we were told didn’t exist Second, we stayed for two nights and did not receive any room service nor would told why our room wasn’t cleaned. Then there were some smaller issues like music playing too loudly on the room floor elevator lobby all through the night. I did mention it the first day but didn’t notice a change. Then the complimentary coffee set up didn’t include the standard cup sleeves so getting the cups back to the room without burning my hand was a bit trickier. I chalk all is this up to growing pains as the hotel is new. But it was a bit disappointing.

I wanted to stay here for my birthday! My hubby booked a room for one night for a staycation! The hotel is decorated beautifully! Very nature oriented and pretty! The lobby gets a lot of people just walking in off the street to take in the view of the lobby and sit near the fireplace! They aren’t staying at the hotel just resting and enjoying the scenery! We were there when it was pretty cold out so a lot of people would come in off the street warm up by the fireplace and then leave! We ordered room service which we never did receive and just FYI if you want to eat breakfast the next morning make sure you are down there early as they close the restaurant down for an hour and a half to set up for brunch which nobody told us about or is it mentioned any where else. You can not get up to your room without using the room key which is nice especially with all the walk ins the lobby gets that’s a nice secure feature unless the elevator is opened and they hop on in! The hotel staff at the front desk knew nothing about the downtown area or the restaurants! To say the least we definitely weren’t impressed!!! It’s just sad you pay so much for a nice hotel and the service just flat out wasn’t what you would expect from a high priced hotel!!! Very disappointing

First off the location and style cant be beat. But you can tell the management here does not know how to run a top rate hotel. I think the staff is trying, but there are fundamentals of hospitality management that are missing. They are running this like a 2 star joint, not a 4 star.

The lobby is a madhouse. The staff is so busy managing looky loos they cant give much notice or patience to guests. For its great location , the room views are really bad, and there is no upper floor place for guests to enjoy the view.

The room ac is incapable of cooling a king room. For a place that is brand spanking new, that is crazy.

The restaurant hostess placed us couples at tables 2 feet apart. When there is a whole host of empty spread out tables open in the dinning area. When i mentioned to her how awkward that is, she was indignant.

If you like dry wines the wine list is a dream. If you prefer sweet or fruit notes, forget about it. The seafood was good, but it does make the whole lobby smell of fish. There seems to be some kitchen blowback into the lobby.

Great potential, but poorly managed and it shows.

Stayed three nights right before Thanksgiving with my husband and kids. We stay in all sorts of hotels from the nicest properties like Four Seasons and Ritz to the Hampton Inns when traveling on the road. This hotel is overpriced for what you get. The atmosphere is gorgeous. Beautiful views of the river and interesting natural decor, such as giant geodes. Our room, which was a city view balcony double queen was nice. We even had a small view of the upper falls area. Unfortunately the day of check out an employee knocked twice back to back at 9 am and I thought it was my husband urgently needing me so I opened the door not fully appropriately dressed as I wrongly assumed it was him. Not sure why she thought we’d be gone so early. Let us enjoy our $475 room until check out, mam.

The restaurant was an interesting experience. Two dinners we had amazing steaks. Cooked perfectly but took an hour to get them. My daughter ordered a berry fruit salad that was served on a hot plate. Very strange. They were out of hot tea that my husband wanted. We also ordered an expensive charcuterie that came with zero crackers or bread. It did have jam though. They want you to order the $10 bread and butter so no crackers allowed.

The breakfast was good too but came out in phases separately spread out, (it wasn’t that busy). They didn’t have chocolate milk for the kids nor hot cocoa. They also weren’t able to do Shirley temples at dinner for the kids.
One time we ordered drinks and fries to go. They had no ketchup to go and wouldn’t let my husband use a small sauce dish nor had any plastic containers to put any in. I thought this place was led by a Michelin chef? Nope. I found out he quit because things were being run badly. Good food but bad service is the overall vibe.

All in all, I say stay here if you get a good price but expect the service to be sub par until they can get things running better. I assumed after two months being opened it would be smooth, but I was wrong.

We eagerly awaited this property's to opening as we enjoy the Bohemian (Kessler) properties in general. We booked it well in advance of the open. My wife and I spent a week at the property. Upon arrival, our room did overlook the falls but had no balcony, we quickly requested a balcony room and were accommodated by the friendly staff. Had we not had the balcony our stay would not been nearly as memorable. We were right above the falls and it was magical magical enjoying wine, cheese and cocktails and listening to the river flow.

The rooms are smart and spacious though not extravagant. We enjoyed drinks at the outdoor lounge, dined at the restaurant for breakfast as well as dinner. We also ordered room service. We enjoyed the spa and had a massage and facials. Dinner service was not up to par with the rest of the property service, the food was good but unremarkable. the spa, though elegant was very pricey.

The hotel is a wonderful experience, and the extensive art collection of paintings, artifacts and statues pay homage to the Indians of the region. We will go again and hopefully catch the wonderful blaze that the fall foliage displayed for us during this remarkable week.

Everything about our stay was fantastic! From the moment we arrived the valet knew that we were coming and our checkin process was quick and simple. Our room was great and the view was not something that you would expect in a downtown hotel. The room was always well put back together when we came back in the evenings and restocked with fresh and clean everything. The restaurant had a great selection and beautiful view. We will stay here again for sure!

I love Greenville and it was really in need of a hotel like this one. The downstairs bar has a great vibe and Sky was an attentive and wonderful server. We had champagne and chocolates in our room upon arrival for an anniversary (nice touch!). However, this property is obviously still trying to work out some kinks and they were on top of making it right.
-Housekeeping did not show to clean the room after I let her know I would be gone from the room in 45 minutes. -There is no decaf coffee at their “coffee bar” in the lobby. Guests must walk to the on site restaurant and get it themselves. Just an inconvenience. -Now let’s discuss the restaurant… I was seated at the bar to eat for a late lunch and was ignored by not one, but three employees. After sitting there and watching an employee take cash from the lady to my left, bring back her change and then come back to take the tip to then turn and wipe down the bar top and set up glasses without even a hello, I left. (This was over 6 minutes). At this time, there were three people behind the bar. Ignoring customers is not okay. Ever. So, I went back to my room and called the restaurant to see if I could pick up an order to go. The answer was a resounding no. So I went online to order room service and the item I wanted for lunch is not on the in room dining menu. So, at this point, I had to walk back down to the restaurant and the elevators were out of order!(Could I have hit more roadblocks ?) I eventually found the stairs and went to talk to the front of house which was unfortunate for them as they had no part in this. I’m not sure who it was that came to help but she eventually allowed me to order food and had it sent to my room. From the restaurant I went to the front desk to speak to the Director of Rooms and was told that they did not manage the restaurant. I let the woman at the front desk know all of the issues that had happened and she was extremely apologetic and helpful. Toward the end of the day, another bottle of champagne was delivered to the room as an apology.
Not huge issues but major inconveniences for guests who want to have a stress free stay. Again, they did a great job up making up for these issues. So, four stars instead of five.

Greenville is close enough from home that it’s often a day trip or a stop for lunch after leaving the beach. However, when we do spend a night or two we often opt for an AirBnB, but after visiting here we will probably rethink that. Considering the view, price and location this really is a great option. A beautiful property in a beautiful city!

This is a two-part review.

My husband and I decided on our anniversary trip solely on wanting to experience The Grand Bohemian in Greenville. It did not disappoint! Having recently opened, they are still getting their footing a little, but this will be the gem of Greenville in no time.
It is a beautiful hotel, with excellent appointments and stunning views.
The bar on the lower floor sitting at the top of a waterfall is chock full of character. The wait staff was wonderful and the Kessler wine was lovely.
I know that there have been a few negative reviews, but I felt that everyone had their best foot forward. There are always bumps with a brand new hotel, but with the attitude of everyone we encountered, it will be smoothed out in no time!

Poseidon Spa located in the Grand Bohemian. It is a small, intimate spa where they have created a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
I had an 80 minute massage with Monterio Hill and it was fantastic! Seriously, the massage is in my all-time top five! Monterio communicated with me before and during the massage making sure the pressure was good and that I was comfortable. He was experienced and tailored the massage for the areas that I was having pain. He created a relaxing atmosphere that I really appreciated! Kudos to Monterio and all the staff at Poseidon Spa.
