Hotel Hartness’ mission is to serve as the ultimate destination for those looking to experience incredible amenities and a level of service not currently offered in the Greenville market. Sean Hartness, CEO of Hartness, summed it up perfectly when he said at the official unveiling, “I am thrilled to be a part of transforming the Hartness family estate into a destination address that will be enjoyed by both the local community and out-of-town guests for generations to come. The Harnesses' have long been one of Greenville's most prominent families and their homeplace has hosted hundreds of local charity and civic events over the past several decades. In homage to the rich history of the family home, Hotel Hartness incorporates much of the home into its design, including the lobby, great room, lounge, and restaurant areas. The hotel is managed by Hay Creek Hotels. Hay Creek was chosen by Hartness because of their proven passion to provide superior service and inspire excitement within the small, independent hotel sector. These values are driven by the idea that the best hotels are ones that draw on the spirit, culture, and character of their locales. Hay Creek believes that unique, authentic, and locally inspired experiences are key to a well-traveled life. Founded in 2005, Hay Creek Hotels was created specifically to combine the intimacy of a boutique hotel with world-class cuisine, cutting-edge technology, unparalleled guest service, and the exclusive amenities of a luxury inn. Hotel Hartness is Hay Creek's first property in the Upstate of South Carolina. General Manager, Albert L. We stayed at Hotel Hartness for three nights in May. What an amazing hotel. We were greeted with such kindness and this continued throughout our stay. We booked the king extended room, the room was fantastic, impeccably clean & modern. Kudos to every staff member we encountered, from the bellman, check- in, to the cleaning and breakfast staff as well as the manager of rooms. Everyone we encountered was delightful and eager to help and made our stay wonderful and memorable.

This was the best hotel experience I have had. I want to come back to visit, just to relax in the hotel. The room was comfortable, large bath towels, small details like a bedside phone charger, substantial bottles of water ( not the typical flimsy plastic) , an espresso and coffee maker, decor was comfortable elegance. The shared spaces I. The lobby invited sitting and gathering. The ( free) breakfast was delicious, even though it was relatively simple. Backdrop was a lovely pool area and gorgeous lake with walking paths, bikes available for guests. Lovely.

Hotel Hartness is spectacular. I have no problem admitting that I am a hotel snob. I do a lot of research before choosing any because I have a standard of CLEAN which I am looking for. The hotel and room met that standard.

The room is very nice and the grounds are beautiful. I did not get to explore all of the trails, but if you are a runner, like to walk, or ride a bike, there is plenty of territory to cover.

Another review here indicates bad customer service. I did not experience this. In fact, there was a hand written welcome note in the room, and I received text messages asking how they could help to make the stay more memorable. The staff was also helpful when I asked the best places to shop in Greenville where I could find unique items and not chain store ones. They also reached out via text to see if we wanted turn down service because we had left the “resting” sign on the door.

If you like a clean, quiet, unique hotel experience, Hotel Hartness will not disappoint.

I went to Hotel Hartness for a convention. From the moment I checked in, the service was great. The room was spacious, well-appointed and lovely. The balcony in my room overlooked the pool and woods and had comfy furniture. The conference facilities were very nice, including one conference room where they opened the back wall to let in fresh air. The bartender was fantastic, and we really enjoyed cocktails in the outdoor common area. In the morning I walked the trails and visited the greenhouse. Breakfast buffet was good and a bariata was there to make yummy coffee drinks. It is a new facility and they really thought about all the details. Highly recommend.

I really want to write a good review, but I also want to be honest so people are aware and hopefully the hotel improves. The company running the hotel is well below average for a 4 star hotel and the Hartness brand deserves better.

To start with, the reservation system is wonky. The price shown on site is very different from the one in the email confirmation, and when I emailed to ask why, it took 3 days for them to respond. I also emailed twice to ask about bikes and no one has emailed me back after 3 days. Customer service is really poor. And then when I got an email close to check in, I actually got two emails from two different people showing two different prices. When I replied to that email, I never heard back.

Then, we made reservations for The Patterson, and someone called asking me to call back and confirm. A text reply would have been more convenient, but when I called back, someone answered with such a strong, non-English accent I could not understand what they were saying and we struggled to communicate. Not exactly what I would expect from a nice restaurant.

Also, we needed to cancel one of our reservations (we made two because we didn’t know which date would work), and canceling is not available online. You have to email to cancel and it takes days to confirm. And take note, they charge a deposit instantly after you make a reservation.

Altogether, I’ve received better service from average chain hotels. Again, this is an operational issue and clearly not well run. And BTW, there are no pictures of the pool or fitness center on their website. Who doesn’t include that with a nicer hotel? Fingers crossed they improve, but not a lot of hope while this company is running things.

An amazing hotel tucked into nature. The elegance and beauty greet you when you very first pull up to the property. Upon check-in. We were greeted with Welcome Prosecco. Efficiently checked in and personally escorted to our room. The rooms are gorgeous, spacious and luxuriously appointed. Beautiful bath with oversized tiled shower and vanity…and included comfy robes. We had a very peaceful view of the lake behind the property.

We had reservations for dinner at Patterson, an impression open kitchen restaurant. The food was incredible. We ordered a Scallop appetizer, I ordered the Salmon which was out of this world delicious and my Husband ordered the crab cakes. Everything was perfect. The taste, presentation and delivery. We passed on dessert and went to The Captain bar for an after dinner drink. We loved the decor and the story behind the theme. Bartender was attentive and accommodating, which provided a very relaxing experience.

We walked through out the property and just enjoyed the peaceful retreat that is The Hotel Hartness. We had the most enjoyable stay, albeit too short, and look forward to returning. We would like to thank the Hartness family and the amazing and attentive staff for their hospitality.

Sincerely, Susan and Kevin Mullen

We just celebrated a 50th birthday with girlfriends at Hotel Hartness. This resort is a hidden gem and we loved everything about it. The decor is luxurious and stunning. The guest rooms are lovely, spacious, comfortable and feature Molten Brown bath products. The service was outstanding. Christiana at the front desk was extremely friendly and accommodating, Albert was an excellent communicator prior to our arrival and our server at Pattersons was kind, funny and on top of taking care of our party of 8 in the private wine room.
The dining at Pattersons also exceeded our expectations. All the starters and entrees were fresh and flavorful. The strawberry burrata salad and the tuna entree were personal favorites. We brought our own Harry Styles themed birthday cake ☺️ and when they brought the cake out they had a Bluetooth speaker playing one of his songs. We got such a kick out of this extra special touch of their own doing. The grounds are beautiful, green and immaculately kept. They had bikes available and golf cart shuttles if needed also. We did not get to visit the spa unfortunately. We spent time by the pool and our bartender/server there was also wonderful and attentive. It was a quick trip but we all agreed we will definitely return to this property and will recommend it to friends & family! Thank you Hotel Hartness for a memorable celebration!

The Wife and I stumbled upon Hotel Hartness while trying to find a unique, peaceful place to stay for our New Year’s Eve weekend getaway. What a find!

A beautiful boutique hotel with great amenities, an upscale feel, and a relaxed vibe. The common areas were beautifully decorated and welcoming. The guest room was comfortable and immaculately clean. The shower was especially nice, large enough for a party if that’s something you want to make happen. The pool looked nice from the room, but we didn’t polar bear plunge. We also didn’t visit the spa - this time.

The Captain Bar is a great little hangout, tasty drinks and fantastic wings (I’m a wing connoisseur/addict/whatever, so my opinion matters). The Patterson Kitchen is an exceptional restaurant, both the regular menu and the prix fixe special event menu were full of interesting and delicious items. The complimentary breakfast was excellent; plenty of variety.

Most importantly, the service from the time we arrived until we left was impeccable. Front desk, bellman, bartenders, servers at Patterson, and housekeeping - they were all friendly, professional, and attentive.

This is a hidden gem. Stay here if you find yourself needing a calm, relaxing getaway in the Greenville area.

The design details catch your eye and are functional and beautiful. My favorite part was the staff, who make you feel like you’re royalty. Very clean, spacious rooms with excellent coffee and a delicious included breakfast, and the bar was the perfect place to end the night.

I’ve now had the opportunity to stay twice at Hotel Hartness and it has become my little slice of heaven. The most recent stay was an early Mother’s day gift - a spa package which included staying in one of the peaceful spa suites.
The staff was welcoming, the atmosphere luxurious yet inviting, and the resort impeccably clean. I absolutely love the spa staff and the little details that make all the difference. My massage was divine!
The spa suites have spoiled me! I love relaxing in the spa tub or on the private balcony. I needed wine glasses and ice, which were quickly brought to my room after asking the front desk. I had the best sleep in the fluffy king size bed. I actually missed breakfast because I was too cozy to move!
I can’t wait to come back this summer and enjoy the pool, bike the trail, and have dinner under the stars!
