This is probably the oldest Marriott Vacation Club property on HHI so it is smaller with a few less amenities but the furniture has been updated and it is always clean and well maintained. They are all 2 bedroom units and be aware that the second bedroom has 2 twin sized beds.
This is one of the more quiet properties, right on the beach and not so crowded like the Coligny Beach area. It is a little farther to go to the shops and restaurants but it's is right next to the Beach Club which has a couple of nice dining options
There is currently a requirement for masks in the lobby and other enclosed areas. All the staff wears masks, but of course, as guests, it is not required to wear masks around the pool area and grounds. There is an attendant by the pool that checks out beach chairs to guests and if someone leaves the pool area, they promptly sanitize the deck chairs. .
Bikes are available to rent by the day or week. They also have toddler seats available and I think they have the little towable unit for 2 small kids. It's a nice ride from there to South Beach or Harbour Town for lunch or sightseeing and the bike trails are excellent and you can also ride on the beach. We did see 3 alligators on our last ride, but not super close to the trail, so be wary of that!
We have been there with friends and with family on several occasions. The staff is always very nice.

This was our first visit to The Monarch but now our kids say they want to come back again! We met other families vacationing and some have been coming for 20+ years and return often. When we walked in our room, we were floored with the beautiful, clean rooms, the spacious rooms, the nice furniture, and the stocked laundry rooms with vacuums, extra paper towels, and laundry detergent. We had plenty of towels for the week and didn’t need room service all week. When we were low on supplies, I let the FD know and they arrived within an hour with a follow up phone call as well! Lauren was very pleasant and attentive at the FD. Both my husband and I used the FC- mostly weights. We had to sign up on the hr and it was cleaned in between. There were industrial wipes to clean after yourself too and water fountains off. It was nice to see how every employee wore masks whether they passed you inside or out. The pools were clean from debris and you could smell chlorine, which felt clean to use. I was able to swim laps at 10 am with very little company if at all! My girls enjoyed splash pad and both pools. We were not informed of the construction when we booked. The shuffle boards, chess game, and “spa area” are closed and gated off. We loved the loveseat wood swing near the little lagoon. We also loved the beach access! Beware on the beach. We had to get out of ocean 2x for sharks. LOTS of stingrays in surf. You can see them all around! My husband got stung once by a stingray. My daughter got cut on her heel by something and all of us got stung by jellies several times each. My other daughter was shuffling her feet in the water (as lifeguards tell you to do to not startle stingrays) and She got a 2 inch fishhook in the top of her foot w/ a 2oz weight attached! It was unreal. We took a break from the beach after that to enjoy the pools. Kitchen: really loved the Tupperware in cabinets to store extra leftovers. Awesome fridge and large freezer! Suggestion-Add keurigs in kitchens. Also would be nice if tinfoil was provided. Also, we had VERY little water pressure on the fifth floor and it took about ten minutes for the master shower to warm up. Flutterby’s is a great little market to get some basics such as snacks, beer, wine. TVs and channel options excellent in each room. And I slept amazingly. Our beds were so, so comfy! We normally sleep on a tempurpedic but both my husband and I slept well on the pillow top mattresses. Parking was close to our building and well kit parking lot. We didn’t rent bikes while we were there but there were plenty styles to rent! The Monarch is a well run, clean, friendly, enjoyable and relaxing place to call home away from home!!

The Monarch seems like a older location. It was going through some renovations when we were there. Beach Access was detoured and one of the pools were closed as well as the drive through near the office. Despite of this (Marriott did warn us of some of the closures) the rooms were nice and large enough for the entire family. The staff was friendly. It was easy to rent a bike or grab some chairs for the beach even with the Covid protocols Marriott did a nice job making you feel comfortable. The surrounding areas to this location is beautiful. All in all this was a nice relaxing trip.

I stayed at this hotel as part of a Marriott vacation club time-sharing presentation. I actually made a reservation to Orlando pre COVID and after COVID erupted canceled my reservation at Orlando and asked for a refund. However, Marriott insisted I cannot get a refund and called almost on a weekly basis to ask me to schedule my 3 nights at one of their locations. Since I traveled on Christmas week, they said this property was the only available one and I booked.

I will start with the positive. The location is really nice, with very easy access to the beach. The room is also great for families, including 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen.

The location is mostly a construction site, replacing the roofs and renovating the hot tubs. There is a small pool on site and hardly any children activities. For the majority of the time, my kids kept on saying it is boring and there is nothing to do.
The room is extremely old. I mostly noted it is the appliances, they are so old, I do not think I have seen something like that, especially the dishwasher. Since it is so bad, it hardly cleans and we received very dirty mugs in the room, I assume due to the hardly functioning dishwasher. In addition, when we came to the room, two of the remote controls had dead batteries, which shows how bad this place is maintained.

They have a bike rental, which cost additional money to the stay, so we skipped that option, as we later moved to a different hotel that offered bike rental for free.
Overall, an extremely boring stay, which Marriott practically made us take instead of refunding our money.

Honestly, I expected Marriott Vacation club to compensate for the horrible experience, instead, they offered us a 4-night package again for $1000, what a joke.

I have one thing to say on this stay - got Bonvoyed

We got all our suitcases and supplies up to the room we found it had not been prepared for new tenants. However everything we needed to clean and make the beds was available in bags inside the door. When we reported this to the front desk they offered us $75 if we did it ourselves. We informed them that wasting our first night preparing the room was worth more than $75 and they could keep their money. Never heard from the GM, he does not work weekends. The room was disgusting.
Terrible guest service.

My husbands family has been coming here since the 80s. It’s our favorite places to go!

We appreciate the new upgrades and amenities on site. I do think there is room for improvement in a few areas. One, routine maintenance needs to be stepped up. When we arrived it was extremely hot in our villa. We thought maybe it just needed time to cool down. We waited an hour and still the temperature was rising fast. With a newborn baby we grew concerned and called the front desk. Maintenance did arrive promptly. They discovered the air filter had not been changed in a VERY long time. It was completely clogged and covered in thick dust. So much so, when they tore it out it looked like a dog got to it. It didn’t want to come out because of how clogged it was. They thought that was the main issue. However, it still kept rising in temperature. We mentioned maybe it needing Freon, and it did! They went up to the roof and quickly filled it up with Freon. Then it cooled down nice in the villa without any further issues. I couldn’t help but think all week about how dirty that air filter was and the germs that could still be float around in the HVAC. Gross! Especially during these times and having a newborn. This is something maintenance should be checking monthly. We also noticed how badly the pool furniture needs replaced. It’s really fading and looking very worn. In addition, we love the updates across the board but the kitchen really needs updated. Also, on the patio, the wood framing/ledge is starting to separate from the wall of the patio, large gaps - it either needs replaced or caulked. One other thing, the hammock on the left needs to be tightened or replaced. No matter who sits in it, you butt touches the sand and it’s not very relaxing.

As always everyone that works at this resort is 5 star and SO friendly and helpful! I can’t say enough about them!

Checked in at reception and was told the room wouldn't be ready for 30 minutes or so. When we got to the room it had a very heavy smell of industrial cleaning products. After taking off my shoes, I discovered the origin of the cleaning smell. The carpet had obviously just been shampooed and was still wet. All three carpeted rooms, spare bedroom, master bedroom and living room were still wet.
I went back to the front desk to explain the problem, and was told there were no other rooms available.
They did offer to put an industrial fan in the room to help dry out the carpet.

My wife and I went out for a couple of hours as the smell was pretty heavy. Unfortunately when we came back there was no change.

Around 9 in the evening, someone came to the room and said that they needed to take the fan away.

Overall a pretty terrible stay and an incredibly poor effort of the part of the Marriott to sort the problem.

The resort is nice - nice location right on the beach. Unit could have been a little cleaner but I cleaned it before we got settled so no big deal. I went to talk to the guy renting bikes to inqure how we would go about it and he told me I should rent a bike right away for our evening ride I was planning. I told him I need to come back with my son to make sure we get the right size and he told me he's been doing this for 10 years, he can ensure he gives me the right size. I gave him my son's info and he gave us bikes. This evening when we went to ride, low and behold the bike is way too big for my son and he can't ride it. So, I guess we're out the money and don't get to do our evening bike ride. Very disappointing.

Excellent place to bring a family. The villa had a king bed and two twins, tons of space with a kitchen stocked with everything we needed. The place has been updated recently - everything is new and clean. Hot tub and one of the pools are under construction but it was fine since there are not many travelers due to it being in the off season and Covid. Pool Attendant on duty to clean chairs during the busy hours. Walk to the beach is so easy. Restaurant next door- fantastic food but the best kept secret is you can order take out at the bar and take your food to the beach. We definitely hope to come back.

From our room to the beach was about a 90 second walk-what a great location. Our two bedroom condo seemed to be newly decorated and was very clean and comfortable. They rent bikes on site (and then you can ride bikes on the beach) and have beach chairs you can borrow down by the pool. Every hotel employee that I met was friendly and helpful. Our room had a great balcony overlooking the garden and koi ponds. We would stay here again.
