For years, my parents have raved about the great service, atmosphere, dining and room accommodations at The Abingdon Manor Inn and Restaurant. On their most recent visit after Christmas, traveling back North from Florida, my Mother realized she had lost a special earring. She called the Abingdon, and their staff was extremely responsive. They went above and beyond searching the...

What a find-- one of the must beautiful places my partner and I have stayed in 35 yrs. Gracious hosts, extraordinarily beautiful home and exquisite 5 course gormet dinner-- in the middle of the quaint small South Carolina town of Latta. We loved it

This is what the consummate lodging and dining experience should be. Mike and Patty are superb hosts and the manor is supremely comfortable. Southern hospitality at its best! Wish we had stayed longer than 2 days! Next time! Highly recommended!

What a great place, starting with the greeting in the front hall, to the goodbyes. Service, food and atmosphere were fantastic. Friendly staff are there to cater to your needs. Nice smiles, good conversation and helpful hints about the area. Rooms were all decorated nicely, quite and well maintained. Turn down service, candy and beverages waiting each evening. Truly a...

While planning a road trip we decided to avoid the generic interstate interchange hotels and after doing some research decided to give the Abingdon a try. Mike and Patty could not have been more hospitable. The Red Room was very comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed our dinners and breakfast and even the lunch they prepared ($10.00) for us for the...

There is no where in a 50 mile radius of Florence that has better food. This is real fine dining, not the 'let's-pretend-and-do-it-on-the-fly' fine dining. Every course was perfect. The inn is true to the period and not overdone. Very impressive.

My family and I just spent three nights in the most beautiful turn of the century mansion. The accommodations were very comfortable as well as luxurious. The owners, Mike and Patty went out of their way to welcome us and take care of our every need. Champagne and chocolates were awaiting us in our beautifully appointed suite on our first...

For travelers along Rt. 95 headed to Florida, a convenient stopping point is Latta, South Carolina, just over the boarder from North Carolina. There one will find the Abingdon Manor Inn. My wife and I have stopped there twice on our trips to Florida and each time we have been warmly greeted by Michael, one of the owners. The Inn...

My wife and I have been taking cooking classes for our anniversary for many years. This year we found a place on the Internet that was only three hours away from home. It looked interesting. Small, intamate and only six people per class (only seven rooms). The web-site showed only two spaces left so I called immediately and reserved two...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Abingdon Manor provides the only luxury accommodations in the Carolinas or Georgia close to interstate 95. The Inn is listed by AAA as a “Classic Country Inn” and had received the prestigious Four Diamond rating for fifteen consecutive years. The property, on the National Register of Historic Places, was built at the beginning of the 20th century as an opulent private home and, while now an Inn, retains the feel of an opulent private residence. A member of Select Registry, Distinguished Inns of North American, Abingdon Manor is ranked among the best Inns in the country. Located in a residential section of the historic district in the charming village of Latta it is just 25 miles north of Florence. The Inn is halfway between New York City and Palm Beach as well as Washington DC and Jacksonville, Florida and it is just 5 miles east of 95. Purchased by Michael and Patty Griffey from Miami, Florida in 1995 to operate as a luxury Inn, extensive renovations, decorating and landscaping have turned this magnificent building into a refined, elegant setting for travelers. The seven guest rooms in the 10,000 square foot building insures privacy, peace and tranquility. The award winning restaurant, The Dining Room at Abingdon Manor, also rated Four Diamonds by AAA, provides fine dining nightly, with full liquor and wine listing. At a fraction of the cost of comparable properties, the Inn offers the discriminating traveler looking for upscale accommodations a particular value. ... more   less
