Nestled on the oceanfront, the Hampton Inn & Suites Myrtle Beach is celebrated for its prime beach access, as many guests confirm. While the hotel's array of pools and the allure of ocean views are a hit, there are mixed feelings about room upkeep and overall cleanliness. Service quality seems to be a coin toss, with reports of both friendly staff and slower-than-desired response times. Though the atmosphere has been refreshed with vibrant colors, some yearn for the previous quaint beach charm. Additionally, unexpected fees have left some guests questioning the hotel's value.

Great location, right on the beach. Comfortable beds. Nice balcony directly on water ( at a slightly higher price) but worth it. Pelicans, dolphins and strollers all in view. Good normal Hampton inn Breakfast. Friendly helpful staff

Friendly staff (from the front desk, housekeeping & breakfast), fast check-in, digital key & check-in/out with HH app available, parking garage attached to the hotel, free cookies at 4PM, breakfast from 6AM to 10AM. Breakfast selections are better than most Hampton Inns. We stayed on the 14th floor with 2 queen beds, the room is smaller but it was clean, quiet, & it has a great view. Indoor pool was "heated" but on the colder side.

My only complaint was when we were swimming in the pool a group of 4 elderly ladies came & literally took over more than half of the pool to do their version of "water aerobics". One of the lady told my young son not to swim pass her because she has "electronic equipment by the side of the pool". They also told other guests that were swimming there first before they arrived to move to the other end of the pool. They blasted music from a speaker...as if they owned the entire pool area. We ended up leaving after not being able to swim anywhere since the 2nd indoor pool was full with people & lazy river tubes. There are sign posted around the swimming pool that the tubes are only for the outdoor lazy river but most guests didn't pay attention to the sign & used the tubes in the indoor pool & taking a lot of the swimming space.

We will be coming back to this hotel & hopefully it won't be at the same time as the "Water Aerobic Ladies" next time.

We stayed Mon.-Wed. which was good because the hotel was not too crowded. There were plenty of chairs (both in the shade and sun) and plenty of room on the beach. The pool area had sun most of the day but by 4PM is completely shaded. But there is full sun at the beach after that if you want it. We liked our room on the 2nd floor. We thought we might want to be up higher for a better view but the view from the 2nd floor was great and we like the convenience of being able to use the stairs instead of the elevator. Almost no one was wearing masks. Some of the guests and some of the employees wore masks but it was not required. Our king bed was very comfortable and the pillows were great. The room was very clean and plenty of linens and toiletries were provided. The balcony was clean and had 2 rocking chairs (loved the rocking chairs!) and a small table. There was a little wear and tear on the bathroom and on the balcony but it was minor. The parking deck was very convenient. The landscaping, pools and grounds are very nice. The pool area is mostly clean but some rude guests would leave cigarette butts and food but it got picked up eventually. We only saw on guy, Mike, tending to the pools and pool area. He was working hard but that is a lot of work for one guy. The front desk staff was very nice when we checked in and when I bought a pack of m&m's (only $1) from the little store they have. There is a tiki bar at the pool and it offered a lot of tasty drinks for under $10. They also offer lunch food burgers, chicken sandwich, fries, etc. The burger was excellent! It would be good if more areas/door handles were wiped down. I didn't see any staff doing this. We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful beach and friendly, clean hotel.

Very disappointed by the lack of enforcing Hilton and S.C. policy requiring masks in public areas during covid 19. I was told by front desk staff by phone that masks were required and I only booked here because of that info. There are no signs telling people to wear masks and people just do what they want. About 60 % of the guests wear masks in the lobby and common areas. The desk staff didn’t wear a mask when checking my BF in and didn’t have one on when I went through the lobby other times. It’s a shame, because otherwise the hotel seems to be doing a really good job of keeping things clean and safe.

The hotel has plenty of hand sanitizer in the lobbies by the elevators, but somehow there is none by the bottom level where people come in and out all day to and from the pool and beach. This makes no sense!

On the positive side, the hotel is clean and cleaning staff only come if you want them. They respond quickly to requests. The breakfast items are all individually wrapped and the staff by them is wearing a mask. Most other staff members do seem to be wearing masks. The tables were socially distanced in the breakfast area and I was able to eat outside overlooking the ocean

We came after Labor Day, and during the week to avoid crowds and this worked well. The beach was not crowded and our beach chairs were socially distanced with great views of the ocean. I’m sure it’s different in the summer and weekends. We lucked out with great weather also.

I expected more, considering all the advertisements about protocol from Hilton, and what I was told by phone.

This was our third time to stay at this hotel-first two times everything was amazing but this time not so much..they are shorthanded obviously and everywhere is lacking the service. Stayed for a week and never saw anyone disinfecting anything such as knobs, tables, coffee stations etc. Hotel is unusually messy-room was not up to standard so I had to clean it for two hours, coffee station was always messy, windows in the breakfast area dirty, tables cleaned once in my seven days stay, chairs full of crumbs, door mats dirty, pool area was not the best either. Homeless man staying at the breakfast area-coming in around 7 pm leaving after 10 am, ppl from nearby hotel used pool area and breakfast for days..I don’t want to be to harsh but things have to change bf this place becomes rundown. The staff is really nice and that handful is working really hard but it is not enough and not fair for those who pay $2500 plus for a week and get mediocre service just bc hotel can’t find enough help. Planing to come back in September and truly hope to see my good old HI...I want to praise Corrie and Hopie for being so nice to me and my family. They are truly the asset of this hotel.!

We cannot apologize enough for what you experienced during your stay. For 20 years, we have been one of the best hotels if not the best on the beach. We and other hotels in our area cannot get the staff people that we need. This is a problem for hotels all over the country. Thank you for your review, but it breaks my heart. The staff that we do have are working their hearts out sometimes more than 12 hours a day. Things are getting better slowly. I have owned and managed hotels for 40 years, and I have never experienced anything like this. I do agree with you that Hopie and Corrie are terrific. Thanks for giving them a shout out. My husband and I absolutely love this hotel. The location is fabulous, the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I also appreciate that that it is a nonsmoking facility (although someone was smoking on their outside deck, as we could smell it.) We love the nautical theme throughout. Our coming here is a mini-vacation, as we live less than 100 miles away, but it’s truly a relaxing, fun place to stay.

This is a great oceanfront resort style hotel. Covid-19 update: breakfast is not hot but still pretty nice considering we are in the middle of a pandemic. Check in is a breeze, the staff is working hard to accommodate needs with cleaning. Almost all lobby elevator areas have hand sanitizers. Wish all floors had just one but am glad they have plenty. 4 pm is cookies and lemonade time, beaches are clean. We didn’t use the pools but we do take beach towels on the way out of the pool (pool towels work for beach towels which is a HUGE plus). Tina on the front desk- she is AMAZING. As are all of them others I’ve talked to. The view is fantastic. We have a mini kitchen suite with 2 bedrooms and is so wonderful with kids! Parking is on site and free- a huge gain for beachfront properties. People are masked and everyone is social distancing. I wish it stays that way until we go home!

This was a trip we were supposed to take last summer, but were forced to cancel due to travel restrictions. It was well worth the wait! Our group of 6 stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suite, which was very large and spacious. It came complete with a full size refrigerator, a stovetop, dishwasher, and stocked cabinets. It was impeccably clean when we checked in as well. All staff we encountered during our stay were extremely nice & helpful. The location was perfect for us, as we didn’t want to be too close to the boardwalk. And the view from our 8th floor balcony was amazing! Beach access was very easy, and the teens loved the lazy rivers and pools as well. The pool bar with cocktails was a great bonus, though we wished it stayed open a little later. If I have anything negative to say at all, it’s just that the clean pool towels were gone early in the day and not restocked. Otherwise it was a perfect stay that we wished was longer! It is great to see the free Hampton breakfast back up and running again in its entirety as well!

This is one of the nicest Hampton Inns we've stayed in. Parking in the garage was easy, as was check-in. The room was spotless, and we liked the beachy feel to the white furniture. Room was quiet enough.
The breakfast was plentiful and fresh, and the breakfast room is one of the prettiest we've seen, very cozy. There are plenty of rocking chairs and cushioned chairs along the windows to enjoy the ocean view. Families will appreciate the play area for kids, as well as 8 pools, all different. The staff was friendly and helpful. We wish we could have stayed longer!

I selected the Hampton Inn for their commitment to quality and a higher standard. And located right on the ocean made for an unbeatable experience! The entire theme of the hotel I would describe as “coastal beach living” .
The lobby area is very open and inviting with multiple places to sit and relax. While by the pool I enjoyed the hammock just reading & relaxing. Very nice!
My room was in the same coastal beach living deor and I liked it very much! My room felt very clean, very fresh, very airy and just seemed to blend so well with the beautiful view looking out onto the ocean!I Also noticed an absence of any type of mildewy, moist, musty humid feeling and smell that can be found in hotels along the ocean! ZERO odors at this Hampton Inn! All of the Hampton Inn personnel I talked to were super friendly in that South Carolina southern easy-going style but professional. Thank you to everyone for making my stay very comfortable!

I brought my dog. Animals are allowed with a fee at almost all Hilton properties. I'd contact the hotel directly to get the correct current answer on emotional support animals. Be aware Emotional support is not a service dog and does not usually get the special treatment of not being charged a fee that ADA allows Service dogs. The dog relief area is in an odd place. You have to take an elevator down to lower ground level past the pool. You will see the supplied pet waste bags.
