Sandy Beach Resort boasts a coveted location near beaches and attractions, a highlight for many guests seeking adventure and convenience. While the resort's atmosphere is generally well-regarded, with praise for its modern vibe, some visitors suggest updates to the furniture are due. Opinions on the service and amenities range, with kudos for the pool variety but criticism towards housekeeping and security. Room views and space often receive compliments, but cleanliness and upkeep issues are a concern. Additionally, the value proposition is contentious, as high cleaning fees and unexpected charges have disappointed several travelers.

This is our second year for staying at Sandy Beach - our getaway from
the cold winter months.
All of the employees are very pleasant and always ready to help.
The front desk has someone onsite at all times, therefore, if you have any questions or issues you can call them any time, day or night. They also have security onsite 24 hours.
For the monthly guests they supply each room with plenty of fresh towels during the week, plus a thorough cleaning once a week. Our room is a 1-bedroom and is
ocean front with a fantastic view!
Sandy Beach is also a great place to meet new friends who come from all over the United States and Canada.
They are at a great location, close to stores, restaurants. and amusements.
My only regret is that we took too long to discover this place. I would highly recommend Sandy Beach Resort.

This is our fourth year staying at Sandy Beach . It is our home away from home..warm and welcoming. There is nothing that the girls at the front desk, Missy and Charity won’t do for you. Beautiful, well maintained, clean rooms, Nightly activities provide fun for all; Sandy beach resort has the friendliest of guests, large Lobby area overlooking the ocean, great for relaxing or chatting with friends!

This is one of those old, aging properties up and down the coast that believe in fleecing guests with bait and switch prices, non transparent information and shoddy service. We were in Room 912.

1. When I started to make the booking on their website, the rate showed up as $131 / night. By the time I was done making the booking and checking in, I had paid $205 / night with all kinds of surcharges, fees etc added at each stage.
2. When we checked in there was a notice plastered at the check in desk saying there will be no housekeeping due to some specious excuse related to COVID or something. Of course this is conveniently not mentioned either on the website or in the reservation process. Better and worse hotels are offering housekeeping without making this excise which is of course nothing but a ruse to save money. The hospitality industry has received millions of dollars from the Government during the pandemic, yet they continue to show a mercenary attitude.
3. The sign also stated that fresh towels will be brought up to the room each day and trash will be collected. None of that happened during the 5 days we were here. In fact during the 5 days, we saw a total of 3 hotel staff in the entire hotel.
4. One of the fees added during the reservation is the 'cutesy' resort fee for which you get unlimited local calls!!! Excuse me??? Is this 2022 or 1999?
5. The hotel is generally dirty and poorly maintained. The gym equipment was sticky and filthy and so were the other public areas.
6. The video that appears on the website is totally misleading and false. None of what is shown in the video exists in this property.
7. The parking is across the street and one has to brave the inclement weather and traffic to walk back and forth. Of course this is also not mentioned on the website.
8. The bedrooms are wall locked with no windows, hence no light or air.
9. In the first 12 hrs of checkin, we called maintenance every half hour to fix something or the other. Lights were not working, phone was not working (how does one make unlimited calls with a broken phone???), the refrigerator was leaking inside (was never fixed) and all the food had to be thrown out, the carpet was frayed and torn, the garbage crusher did not work, card keys had to be replaced every day and many more.
10. The lights are all white giving the entire place the look and feel of a hospital.
11. There is a cramped and narrow driveway and the lobby hardly exists.
12. There are bed bugs galore and we were forced to sleep on the floor in the living room. This is one of the consequences of not offering housekeeping.
12. I asked for the manager to contact me but of course no one did.

And lastly, Mr. General Manager, please do not bother to offer a generic one line response. The sad part is that most guests do not bother to read these reviews and flock to these kinds of properties any way and that is why the owners and management get awy with it. A sad state of affairs.

I am very disappointed to read such a terrible review. We understand you were upset with our housekeeping policies, however we are following industry standards. We did attempt each day to provide towels and trash service. Our rates are very well spelled out online and there are no hidden fees upon check in. Our staff works very hard to provide a welcoming and enjoyable stay. I believe the review is exaggerated NO guests had to sleep on the floor. We have two different sections to our lobby (one is direct oceanfront!) with seating and free coffee in the morning. Please feel free to contact the resort (843)448-5522 to better understand your review.

One of the first hotels you see as you come into the city from 95. My suite needed a makeover because the kitchen cabinet doors and fronts were peeling their cheap vinyl covering. Towel quality was that of motels used for afternoon delights... aka cheap sandpaper. Useful for scrubbing your sunburned skin. Balcony was nice size but mine lacked a table to put a drink on. I noticed that about half of the balconies were missing the table. Must have blown away because they were the cheap chairs n tables you get from a dollar general.
On the positive, the suite had two queen beds in the back room with dressers. A murphy bed and a pull out sofa so you could sleep 8. Bathroom was large with a full width mirror that 2 or three could use at once though only 2 outlets and one sink but this isnt your McMansion but a place to sleep while on vacation and the kitchen area boasted a double sink, dishwasher, stove, large microwave, large fridge. Cooking utensils were there but no silverware??? It also had an apartment sized single unit stacked washer and dryer.
The pool are was large with two outdoor pools, 1 4-person and 1 large jacuzzi pools. There was a baby area n kid area under roof to protect from sun. The lazy river was so lazy you had to propel yourself around. I saw few kids play in this area as they got bored.

The beach is very short and at high tide everything got wet up to the dunes so you better bring chairs. I recommend the larger hotels to the north or south.

My family and I stayed at our favorite place the Sandy Beach Resort. It did not disappoint. We love the condos and the views and it's close to alot of shops and restaurants. My grandkids love the kiddie pool. This time was stayed on the 15th floor the highest floor we have ever stayed. We had a full view of the balcony and a view of the city. The only thing I would mention is the housekeeping due to Covid-19 they do hand you a paper explaining that housekeeping will not enter your room they will knocked and if you are not there they will skip. There is a towel drop and trash bins on your floor so be aware if you miss them you can go to the lobby for extra essentials. I will bring my own broom and hand vacuum next time we always missed housekeeping. 🙃. We had a 2 bedroom,2 bath with washer and dryer.❤

We stayed on the 11th floor in a oceanfront 2 queen bed suite. The first thing we noticed was the room was extremely dusty! The kitchen cooking utensils looked like they were chewed or melted. The dishwasher was broken. The carpet was stained pretty bad. The bathroom had a plunger on the shelf where you are suppose to store your things. The tub had hair in it. There was a string of hair on the corner of the bed sheet. The mattress cover had stains. The broom smelled like vomit. We spent the first night buying cleaning supplies and disinfecting/bleaching the entire suite, dishes, mopping etc. For $1200 we were expecting a clean room!! The older security guard expects you to unpack your car, wait for an elevator and move your car within 15 mins. I He was a pain in the a**.

The good? Well the view was amazing! We loved that there was a washer and dryer. We spent most of our time sitting on the balcony enjoying the view. The beach was clean. They supplied towels, beach chairs and umbrellas. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool area. Front desk was friendly upon check in. Would we stay here again? Probably not.

This was a disappointing experience from the outset. We arrived early from out of the country and our room was not ready so they requested a phone number to notify us at when it was ready. We never received a message despite the room being ready when we did finally arrive at the hotel. The front desk staff was not able to answer the only two questions I asked.
The overall cleanliness of the space was disappointing. There were layers of dust on many of the surfaces, the doors were 'beat up' with marks and patches where holes had been, one door handle went the wrong way, portions of the door around the handle were black with dirt, there were holes in the middle of two of the chair cushions as well as the ironing board. The fridge kept freezing up and there was brownish liquid that kept oozing from the corner of the fridge door onto the floor. The mattress was sagging and you could feel the springs when you sat on certain areas of the couch. None of the remotes for the TVs worked, and due to the pandemic, there were no cleaning services, yet we were still charged a $39.56 daily charge for that service. (I had to haul the garbage and all the dirty towels to a specified location - you were not allowed to leave it outside the door.) I would not have had an issue paying had I received the service. Perhaps the worst part of the experience was that guests were smoking cigarettes and cannabis from their balconies and it would blow straight into our room, filling our room with the smell. (Although there is a no-smoking policy which is supposed to apply to the balconies, it was still happening and I heard other guests complaining of the same issue.)
When I returned home, I sent an email outlining my disappointment and requesting a refund for most of the cleaning fee, but never heard back from management.

We chose this resort because we had stayed there in the past and been pleased, but we will not be returning nor recommending.

We sincerely apologize for the poor overall experience. There is absolutely no excuse for the room, or any part of the resort to be in the condition you described. We have Security 24/7 and I have notified the Security Manager of the situation that you have described. Housekeeping each day will knock on your door and exchange towels. toiletries etc. The fee is to offset the rising costs of supplies and service. We are sorry to hear that any guest would be unwilling to return but if there is anything we can do to regain your business do not hesitate to contact the resort and ask for a manager.

My family usually stays in North Myrtle Beach, and we found this condo on very short notice on Father's Day weekend. It ended up being such a blessing to us! The location was great, and our host was fabulous. The condo was on the tenth floor with amazing views from each room with a balcony. It is not a five-star resort but perfect if your expectations are exactly what you see is what you get! It is simple and clean and big!! I would bring slippers/socks next time for nighttime because the floors are hardwood and do get sandy; paper towels, napkins, and body wash style soap, not bar soap. Oh, the shower and jacuzzi tub in the master is excellent!! My daughter said, "the water pressure was the best!" The chairs and umbrellas were $40 a day or less if you bought for more than one day and had them until 4:00. The washer and dryer are in the unit so that you can do your towels daily. It was perfect for us; We wanted the views in the room and to spend time on the beach with friendly hospitality! Thank you, Codey!!

The room was very spacious however, the carpet needed a good cleaning. The refrigerator was rusty. The light switch by the door turned on the TV instead of the light. The lamp in the living room was unplugged but I rectified that. The view from the balcony was very nice. I resented the fact that we were not told before we checked in that there was no maid service and firmly feel that a partial refund should be given because of the lack of service. We were told we would need to talk to the manager about that. Also, a huge draw back is the parking. We had a handicapped vehicle. Many evenings we had to park in the very last row -- over a block away. On at least one night, most of the cars parked in the handicapped spaces did not have either handicapped plates or placards. More handicapped spaces are needed. The number of and variety of pools was very nice. However, the current in the lazy pool was virtually non-existent. Access to the beach was easy. Not sure I will stay again due to the lack of maid service and parking.
