I will start by saying that I have heard horror stories about the disrepair of hotels in Myrtle Beach, especially in the off-season. It's obvious that the people who told me that never stayed at the Sheraton in Myrtle Beach. The staff was friendly and helpful, from the front desk giving me an early check-in, to housekeeping who did a superb job with the cleanliness of my room. Housekeeping noticed that I was not drinking the caffeinated coffee and left me extra packets of decaf, that's real service. Susan at the bar could not have been nicer, she is a real gem.

To start with, this is an attractive property away from the action. The location is good for older adults or those on legitimate business and not monkey business.

Check in went smooth as would be expected during these low occupancy times. Parking is an additional $8 a day in the ramp next to the hotel.

There were canisters of hand sanitizer and tissues to use for touching hard surfaces. No daily housekeeping as a nod to COVID, which is fine.

The room itself was mostly fine. The first light switch I hit... nothing happened. So, they might want to get the bulb replaced.

Now on to my odd issue that will most likely qualify as TMI... but I will press on. As a normal middle aged male I have to sit down to tend to bathroom business twice a day. I am blessed to be pretty regular.

When I sat down on the toilet, my full package became semi submerged in the water..YUCK! I have been around enough locker rooms in my day to know there is certainly nothing freakish about my anatomy.

To make matters worse, the water actually raises a tad when you flush. This is a commercial building that does not have commercial grade plumbing.

The toilet does not flush with any authority, but rather circles lazily to flush. I had no confidence it could handle a good adult sized output from start to finish. This means that your best bet is multiple flushes durning various intervals to save yourself from having to call maintenance.

So, twice a day, I had to contort, hover and maneuver to accomplish my business. Still at times, all that didn’t totally work and I ended up in a quick shower.

I am guessing others...probably a ton of others suffered this fate but were too embarrassed to bring it up.

I won’t be back. I will try one of the ocean front properties next time.

Passing through, we stayed one night. Looking for a hotel, Sheraton advertised it was 2 blocks to the boardwalk. Maybe that was a misprint, 'cause it's 2 blocks to the beach, NOT the boardwalk. The boardwalk is not within walking distance unless you're ambitious.
The hotel is well maintained and clean, no creepy crawlers anywhere which can be difficult around water. We were on the 12th floor which gave us a spectacular view of....inland. Room keys are required to use the elevators giving an added level of safety for the guests. Our room was clean, bed was comfortable, there were blackout curtains, a 'fridge, a safe. a retractable clothesline in the shower for wet bathing suits. Water pressure was great with plenty of hot water and adjustable water flow on the shower head.
Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. A fee ($8/day) is charged to park in the garage.

If you want to stay in a party hotel that reeks of Marijuana, has people drunk, screaming at 2 in the morning, and having people throw up in the pool - this is your place. The hotel advertises that they are taking safety precautions, but they are very lax. Elevators packed, no one wearing masks. They claim to have hand sanitizers in each room, also stated on the site, but not true. They say they are not doing daily housekeeping for safety - what type of BS logic is this? Clean less with a virus - should be cleaning more. More like we can save money having less housekeeping staff. Worst mistake I made in trusting that this corporation had their act together to conduct business safely.

Just completed a 4 night stay. The coronavirus is worsening in Myrtle Beach and it's obvious why.

While the hotel does a nice job of having their front desk staff wear masks and work behind Plexi shields, there's just blatant disregard for how the hotel is handling public areas.

Be aware that only about 10% of people are wearing masks within indoor public places. Now take a hotel that is not enforcing highly limited numbers of people in close spaces like elevators and you have real problems.

I'm now staying in another hotel nearby (non-chain). Unlike the Sheraton there's signs everywhere of one family at a time in the elevator. There's boxes of tissues and hand sanitizers at every elevator door. There's people.cleaning the elevators and other public areas constantly.

None of this takes place at The Sheraton. In fact, one morning I went to the coffee bar and the server did not even have a mask. I'm not a germaphobe and am comfortable without a mask outdoors but management at this Sheraton needs to step up and start taking this more seriously. I get that limiting people in elevators is going to create some.irritated folks who have to wait but saving lives is a bit more important.

If you're coming to this area be careful. Do your homework, things are very loose down here. Be prepared that people associate vacations with relaxing and letting their guards down. And when selecting a hotel where you are absolutely going to spending time indoors in public areas, be sure to see how they are handling things. There are hotels doing a good job and there are Sheratons that think posting a few signs are enough.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights. Due to the shortage of staff they will not service your room. And when they clean the room, it’s not very thorough. Left over food from the previous occupants was still in the mini fridge. We sat the trash outside and after two days it still was not picked up. We had to go to the service desk to ask. There were dirty diapers outside the rooms, left over food, dirty towels. People were even moving their trash to the elevator area. I can understand not cleaning the rooms every day but the bare minimum should be to pick up the trash, food and towels left outside the rooms. You’d think they’d discount the rooms or provide extra water or something but they did not. Cobwebs were on the windows in at the entrance to the hotel. Truly bare minimum and not the Sheraton experience you are used to.

Stayed at this hotel during a visit to Myrtle Beach to play a round of golf, and when in Myrtle Beach I usually book at this hotel. It is always excellent and a pleasure to stay there. The front desk staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel is pretty modern and well-maintained. Parking is in an adjacent garage and is ~
$8.00/day. The hotel has 4 elevators so you very rarely have to wait. There's a restaurant, bar and coffee shop on the 2nd floor that are all very nice. All the amenities in the room are kept up very well, including linens, the TV, furniture and the bathrooms. There was no refrigerator in the room. The hotel, while close to the beach, Broadway, shops and restaurants is set off a few blocks from those things (not a short walk to the beach), but everything is closely accessible by car. All in all, this is a great hotel, is very comfortable, well run and is a pleasure to stay at when I'm in Myrtle Beach. Very well done, always very enjoyable stay!!

We stayed May 3rd-7th. Check in went well. Matt gave us a nice room on the 8th floor. We had a great view at night of the Ferris wheel at Broadway at the Beach. It was fun to watch all the different light patterns We did not have a microwave in our room so I went to the desk and asked if we could get one. By the time we came back from dinner Kaleb had arranged for one to be set up in our room. He was energetic and was really willing to help. There is a little hotel gift shop that was open on Friday while we were there. The prices were reasonable. We had read that it was a little walk to the beach. It was not a bad walk at all! And if you walk the opposite direction from the beach you can go to Broadway at the Beach which has shops and ride attractions and restaurants. We were impressed that while walking around that the city was quite clean, without a lot of trash in the streets or on the beach. And the beach was very nice. There are several restaurants that were all within walking distance and great a miniature golf place also. Check out went well also. Arter the Bellmen stored our luggage after we checked out and arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport when it was time to leave. It was a very pleasant stay and I would not hesitate to stay there again!

This stay was miserable. We are here now. Checking out at 11am. We are staying in room 337. When we checked in the room was very hot and the TV was not working. We called the front desk and waited. No one showed up. I adjusted the air to 64. We left and walked to the beach came back about 4 hours later, still hot in the room and TV not working. I went down to the front desk and spoke with the night manager Matt. He sent someone from the engineering department. Two guys came to try to fix the air and TV. They were unsuccessful so they brought in a smaller TV which could not be connected to the cable box so we were only able to get local channels. He adjusted the air to 60. We were told that they could not switch our room because the hotel was sold out. The manager told us we could order something from room service and he would adjust our bill. I get the folio this morning, room service was free but he only adjusted the bill by $20. We are miserable, we are sleeping on top of the covers, not cuddling because it is so hot. I'm anemic and am usually always cold. This is just ridiculous. Not only that, our complimentary meal was not good and their was a dead bug in my salad. I didn't even call the front desk because I was just over it. However when we check out, I'm going to let them know how unsatisfied we are. I'm a bonvoy member and this is our worst stay yet. No one needs to be checked in to room 337 until all of this is fixed. And the bug was actually in the salad. I picked it up with the fork and sat it on the side to get a better look. It got smashed when I closed the lid. All pictures were taken at 5am when I was laying in bed awake because it's too hot to sleep and after I saw the bill had only been adjusted $20.
