Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort South Beach offers a location that many guests find convenient for nearby activities, despite occasional cleanliness concerns. While some guests encounter a blend of helpful and unprofessional service, opinions on rooms are varied, with positive remarks about cleanliness and views alongside criticisms of datedness. The atmosphere is often seen as in need of an update, and while the resort's value proposition is contested due to unexpected fees, the amenities like pools are generally well-received, albeit with some limitations.

I was a little leary about staying here because of the reviews--some said there were roaches, no towels and dirty sheets. And I usually don't stay in less than 4 star review places. But a friend rented it without reading reviews on other websites. Anyway, I did not see any bugs whatsoever in my room or the other room of the people I traveled with. The sheets were clean. And they gave us PLENTY of clean towels, more than even in high star hotels. I did wipe our room down (room 405) with clorox wipes, even the floor; I even wiped the doors down, just to be sure germs were killed. Outside in the hallways, the carpet was dirty, and some of the outside doors dirty; but people party and are messy. I didn't care as long as my room was clean, which it was. Great view of the ocean; loved the little lazy river (it was clean too). People were always in the hot tubs so I couldn't get in them. You do have to pay to rent chairs by the ocean which I didn't think was fair, they should come with the hotel. Overall, a decent place to stay and I would stay again.

I was concerned after reading some of the reviews but was pleasantly surprised when we arrived on the 4th of July week-end. Our room was ready, clean, and had a fully equipped kitchen. A Maintenance man came and replaced our inoperative phone and when we saw him that night and mentioned another small issue, he immediately came and fixed it. The room was pleasant though the lamps by the bed didn't work. The front desk people were very helpful and we saw no problems with other guests. Our daughter and her husband had no problem with their room either and it also had a fully equipped kitchen. Fresh towels were available each day if desired. The beach was cleaned each day and the pools and lazy river seemed to be clean. Apparently the rooms are owned and managed by different agencies so that may explain the difference in cleanliness and maintenance. Ours were managed by the hotel

The pictures are photo shopped, and are not accurate. It's a decent hotel, and 3 stars on here but I would say Priceline's star rating of 2-2.5 stars is more accurate. You get what you paid for. We are happy with our stay and knew going in, paying $59/night it wasn't going to be 5 stars. Two pools and a lay river. The pools were so warm it was nice since the air can be chilly this time of year. Room was clean- no bugs. Beds were hard as a rock!! Every room has ocean front views!!! Bar staff was exceptional!! Maintenance staff was nice and accommodating. Check in was easy. There was always parking in the garage, even though the hotel was booked for every night we were there. Walking distance to a lot of restaurants and fun things to do. We would stay again!

Sandcastle south beach Resort was one of the worst hotels I ever checked into. We had a late check in at 12:30am. First we walked into our room and, it had water all over the floor. It also had a sink faucet that was not secured to the bathroom sink. The bathroom also had a toilet plunger sitting next to the toilet. There was mold in the tub and along the floor. The refrigerator was leaking because it was defrosting. The Refrigerator had dents and rust on it. We also found chewing gum on the floor. In the corners of the room had dirt. Bedroom furniture was broken. I have pictures to prove all of this. I then tried to call the front desk. No one answered the phone. I had to go down to the front desk and wait about twenty to thirty minutes for the front desk clerk to address my issues with the room. The clerk listened to my concerns with the room. She then gave us another room. The second room we went to had roaches. The minute my husband and I turned on the lights we seen roaches running all over the place. I went back down to the front desk to get a refund on our stay and was told there was no manager on to refund us. I was told that no one would be in until 8:00am the next morning. Against my better judgement we stayed in the first room we were assigned to. My husband and I were extremely tired due to the fact we drove 12 hours and we did not feel we could get another room at that time in the morning. The next morning I went to the front desk at 8:00am sharp. The same clerk was still there. She told me no manager would be in until 10:00am. I then went back to the front desk at 10:00 am to be told again that no one was there to refund my money. My husband and I checked out. I was also told that a manager would contact us by phone. I am still waiting for that call!!!
I don’t know how anyone can rate this hotel other than dirty and unacceptable!

This was a last minute getaway we decided about a week or two in advance. We didn’t want to spend an arm or leg but wanted oceanfront which they had. The worse thing was the large cockroaches we saw not in our room but all around the property even up on the 14th floor wall next to our balcony.
On arrival at 4pm, we had to wait due to low housekeeping for our room to be ready. We came back in two hours and it wasn’t so they gave us a different room. Once we got to our room, we noticed on the way to it that 5 other rooms walking to ours were open and clean( they stayed that way for the following two day). Also, the front desk staff weren’t the friendliest or attentive, none of them wore mask until the weekend crew came in. Our a/c next to the balcony was screaming and not working. Maintenance came quickly but weren’t also wearing mask. All they did was unplug it and say give it some time, it never worked, so we gave up. The ice machine on some of the floors were not working. The TV was old flat screen that was staticky the entire time so no point. The room was decently clean, I still used Clorox wipes throughout and sprayed Lysol. The room was old and outdated. The kitchenette has played but no silverware. The beach was nice and relaxing, no lifeguards posted but driving around. The showers after leaving the beach had very low water pressure and the handles were broken to use the full body shower. It was being worked on when we left, hopefully they fixed it. There is an indoor and outdoor pool, along with hot tubs and a lazy river. The parking garage is tight for two way traffic so be careful. Due to all the bars closing at 11, there wasn’t much to do in the evening other than dinners but still nice getaway. I would give this hotel at 2.5 stars, they can upgrade and definitely do better.

Alex you’re a great person and was very helpful you, the man who made sure we had our towels, and the lady at checkout made this situation better. Keri you need to work on customer service and at least call or email customers back. (Still never heard from her.) room 718 was filthy, was falling apart, and definitely not a resort. If you put as much effort into your rooms as you have the lobby/check in this would be perfect to stay. Your cleaning crew needs a 101 lesson on how to clean. We found a dirty black Boyd sock between the mattress and box spring along with ample amount of dust and hair. Yes I check this to make sure there are no bugs. The couch was something you would expect to find in a thrift store not a resort. Thank you Alex for returning my resort fees for I felt like our stay was more like a motel than a resort. Had we been able to find a hotel that could accommodate 5 guest we would have booked somewhere else. Upon entering we used cleaning wipes to wipe everything down and did a quick clean of our own. The carpet need to be replaced along with the furniture and the repairs need to be made to the whole room including the ceiling. We slept on top of the covers, thankfully we had our own blankets. The only thing that I can say is the view exceeded expectations and Alex’s hospitality made a horrible stay better. I really wish I could say something positive.

The check-in process had a lot to be desired. They didn't have our reservation in the system. Fortunately, I always carry a printed copy of the reservations. They were about to blame the site I used to reserve, but I explained that it was their site I used to reserve from. We had to wait for them to enter the reservation and get the room ready. There were many people having same issues. The lobby was full of people trying to get their reserved room with one issue or another. They told most that they did not have a reservation for them. They consistently blamed 3rd party sites for their reservation issues
Due to COVID, they are not doing room service, that's okay. They gave a time frame to get clean linens. It took me three trips to the lobby to get fresh linens. I went twice during the time frame given, with no luck. The third trip was after the time frame and they acted as though it was my fault that they didn't have them because I didn't come during the designated time. I explained that I came twice already. They didn't really care. When I said I was paying a lot to stay there and didn’t want to spend the time in the lobby, the front desk clerk stated that she lived only 10 minutes away and her house cost a lot too. I ended the conversation there, but continued to wait for the linens instead of being able to take my child to enjoy the pool and beach.

I wish I had made a picture of the sign out front. They claimed to have clean rooms and smiling faces.
While the room wasn’t nasty, it didn’t fit the claim of boasting clean rooms.
As for the smiling faces. We didn’t see a single happy employee there, except for maybe a maintenance worker as we were leaving. They all had bad attitudes and some with bad language. Really bad language. Not just a word or two, but more of a long string that were designed to unlock some door, I guess.

I recently booked a 5 night stay here and check in was at 4pm. 6m the room was not available yet due to it not being cleaned. The pool was green with stuff floating on top. Outside patio chairs are worn and ripped to where you cant sit down on them because they were torn. The music was so loud outside by the bar. The water was running out in the hallway where the indoor pool was which that pool was also very very gross. Booking tried to email them and call which they never answered to see if they would refund my money for my first night and they stated they would not and didn't. After driving for 12 hours and so tired and 20 others in the parking lot waiting on rooms at 6pm was ridiculous. I could only imagine what the rooms looked like if the property was trash!!!

The room was full of sand no towels or wash cloths we had to go to the lobby to get them at the front desk . The housekeepers didn’t come in your room a broom was in it to sweep the floors but didn’t help . I went down twice in one day to get wash cloths none was available. The stairs smelled like urine laying in them was clicked wings the elevators scaring didn’t know if they were going to get stuck . The only positive was the beds were comfy . Will not stay at this place again 5days 4 nights for the money it wasn’t worth it .

Lets start at the beginning of my trip, I checked in and less then 30 minutes I was back down to the office and talking to them about the changing the room and the conditions of the room and the furniture in the room. I was checked in by a guy and in the same 1 hour a women was there who was very unaware what was going on in the hotel she worked at or maybe they do they just don't care. She then gave me a key I could go take a look at another room which was worse then the actual room they have given to me. (Pictures will be placed below) Never in my life have I had such rude service from a Hotel place that calls its self a Resort but really is the bates motel. The manager was extremely rude and ratchet. She even told me to not talk while she was explaining to me why shouldn't give me all my money back on NOT staying at the hotel. The place was a dump and the customer service was even worse. DON'T STAY HERE, I should've listened to the couple on the elevator who told me to turn around and not unpack my things or even go into the room.

I have been going to Sandcastle several times and have never experienced his problems. It's unfortunate but things break however the people who I've experienced they are at the front desk and and maintenance have been very responsive to anything I've ever asked. I have found a new changes to the back patio extremely Pleasant and really can understand Aaron G's complaints.

the room I stayed in did not have carpet it was all floor. I myself checked the beds before we set our luggage in the room and found nothing. we didn't use the kitchen so I couldn't tell you about the dishes. the floor was not dirty but it did have sand which is pretty common since your at the beach I even swept and I couldn't get all the sand up. we stayed in August of this year hope this helps
