The Strand hotel boasts a location that many guests deem exceptional, often overshadowing other mediocre aspects of their stay. However, cleanliness emerges as a common concern, with numerous mentions of subpar housekeeping and unclean rooms, which also affect perceptions of value, as guests grapple with additional cleaning fees. While some of the hotel's amenities, such as ocean views and breakfast options, are appreciated, the overall experience of the rooms and inconsistent service have left many travelers underwhelmed and frustrated.

We decided to stay here again because the King Suite room was spacious, had two balconies & a window in the bedroom that looked out to the beach; who wouldn’t want to see the ocean every morning. I can give some consideration with the dishwasher not being connected, the washer/dryer not working 100% because it appears they are updating the rooms. Our room was as expected, roomy and loved the change to add a smaller dining table and recliner for the living room. The check in was quick & easy, I like being able to take our own stuff up to the room. The addition to the room key and pool wristband being the same was nice not having to dig for a key every time. Front desk staff were responsive to requests & housekeeping kept our towels stocked & gave us new sheets when requested. The closet where the water heater is kept was disgusting with lint and grime. Of course we did some of our own disinfecting but as we went through the room on our last day we found cough drops and albuterol sulfate in the sliding door track which clearly shows there was no good cleaning after the last guest checked out. We found cheese in the couch cushions with paper & plastic bottle tops under the couch when we arrived. We loved the private balcony but the constant smell of marijuana at night is irritating & unenjoyable. We have a child who We would prefer doesn’t smell it or the fact that it would seep into the room when you opened the balcony doors was annoying. Breakfast was as expected and you can’t beat free; I would recommend being more on top of refilling items as they get low, waiting till you are completely out to start cooking more eggs, bacon or biscuits is annoying especially when there is at least another hour left for breakfast service. Housekeeping seemed a bit irritated when I used the elevator at the end of the building because we tried to keep our contact with others to a minimum but they had no issue using the main elevators of which there are only 2 for a building that needs at least a few more. The lobby appeared clean and smelled good, but we

The Strand is a lovely resort. We have a two bedroom unit with two bathrooms and we love it. Where they excel though is keeping everyone safe during this pandemic. They have measures in place that ensure our safety and that is so reassuring. The buffet is served by gloved personnel keeping the buffet away from multiple folks. Debbie and Odessa work in the dining area and they are working extremely hard. They are friendly and have great attitudes with the customers. A big big thank you goes out to them.

I must preface this review by saying,” I hold every hotel I stay at responsible to their website description of what I should expect, and to a lesser degree reviews on Trip Advisor, as they are subjective.” The Strand hotel in Myrtle beach does not meet the expectations of what they lead you to expect, for the most part. I will start with the hotel itself. The furniture in the rooms is old and dated. And no, it is not “beach charming.” It is just rundown. It makes you feel like you are going to catch something sitting on it.The carpeting, which covers almost every room and hallway is dirty and disgusting. You can just see the dirt, moisture, and whatever else may be living in it ready to crawl onto your skin. Who puts carpeting in a beach hotel, where everyone is walking on it with wet dirty feet? And before anyone talks about slipping on some type of tile floor, I travel fairly extensively as a scuba diver, and I have never been in a beach hotel with carpeting everywhere. They always have some type of flooring that minimize slips and falls. And if there was carpeting in the rooms, it was clean and well maintained throughout
The service at the Strand has the distinction of being some of the worst I have ever encountered in a hotel that charges what they do — roughly $226.00 per night. The front desk staff ran the gamut of serviceable to downright surly.
With the implementation of protocols reflective of the pandemic, the Strand clearly tells you that they will not clean your room in order to protect their staff. They do, however, tell you that they will replace your towels and clean your garbage on a daily basis, which is a lie. We were there for 4 days, and they replaced our towels once. When we called the front to request a towel pickup, we were told, rather rudely ,to leave our towels outside our room. The used towels sat outside our doors for a day and half.
One of my biggest “ pet peeves” in any hotel is noise, in particular in my room. We could clearly hear the conversation of the couple in the adjoining room through the door that separates the rooms. The slamming of doors could be heard throughout day and night.
The indoor parking garage is a tight maze begging for damages to your car.
This is by far the worst beach hotel I have ever stayed in, relative to the price.

Spent a romantic week at The Strand. It is close to restaurants, entertainment but far enough away from the boardwalk area to enjoy quiet on the balcony. We had a king suite with full kitchen and washer/dryer. I went home with no dirty clothes!!! Kitchen has limited dishes and silverware so take some disposable. Balcony is HUGE! Separate bedroom and living room was so convenient. Bathroom was a bit tight. I am handicapped but did not request a handicapped room, the rooms are big enough for walker/wheelchair but the bathroom would be an issue so ask for a handicapped room. Staff was great, check in and out was quick. Jody in housekeeping is so friendly and helpful. We did not eat the complimentary breakfast so I can’t comment there. Pool was warm and clean. Lounge chairs were so comfy! They provide pool towels. Parking in garage was tight but plentiful (we park in handicapped so I don’t know about the rest of the parking). Enjoyable stay!! Will stay again!

My wife and I arrived to Myrtle Beach and had made reservations at another hotel chain about a mile and a half from the beach. When we got there what we had paid for was not what they front desk was telling us we were going to get. So we came across The Strand Hotel in looking for another place to stay since we were not happy with our reservation. When we arrived at the Strand we were greeted by the lady at the front desk whose name was Jennifer and after telling her of our plight she went above and beyond in making our stay a most enjoyable one. Our room was immaculate and we were beyond happy with what she had done for us. I also noticed that employees were walking around with these little machines spraying surfaces and wiping them down to make sure they were clean. This was constantly done throughout the day. I also must give a shoutout to Courtney who answered every question that I asked of her and she did it with patience and a smile. Also the pool crew did a good job in cleaning the pool in the early mornings. The only little comment I would make is that the inner top edge of the pool tile needs to be scrubbed down as it has some residue from oils and suntan lotions. But regardless of that minor detail my wife and I were thrilled with our stay at the hotel and we would most definitely stay there again without hesitation and recommend it to our friends and family.

It started when we checked in: I have mobility problems; is the room close to the elevator – “Oh, yes!” {actually the second furthest}. The overly short fitted sheets allowed the covers beneath to roll up as the sheet popped out. The soaps were so small, they were basically single use. The bath control felt as though it was coming off. WIFI ran at 1.25 MBPS. Unique room-key system in the rubber band you might wear at the pool: I don’t know anybody who wants to wear a hotel wristband around town.

Apparently, someone told food services you have to show a profit with no income: I think they begged their buffet. Their “meat” varied every day. I have never in my life had someone cut up hot dogs and call it breakfast. If you don’t know what canned corn beef hash looks like, go to your local grocery and grab the cheapest available: you might be able to feed it to your dog when it’s opened. “Biscuits” looked like they came out of the easy-bake oven, gravy was tasteless, potatoes were half-done, and the grits were set up by the time they reached the bar. The coffee was so watered down, we had to buy real coffee when we got on the road.

Parking was in/out of a deck across the street – practically no handicapped spaces – shared with Patricia Grand, with notices that your car could be towed if you park in the wrong space.

The Strand is part of Brittain Resorts. The staff is marvelous. However, I'm not sure if I'd consider staying here again until the following are fixed:

The bathroom tub/showers need to be replaced or thoroughly cleaned. There is mold along the sides and lower openings. See the pictures of what was in the tub after my shower.

The refrigerators I believe are the responsibility of the owners. Look at the pictures of the rust on the one in my room. Housekeeping are not allowed in the rooms, but will report issues.

I was only there for a few days of necessity or I'd of left.

Overall, our stay was average. This hotel could improve on cleaning and maintenance. The outside of the hotel is beautiful, as is the lobby and pool area. Once you get off the elevator to go to your room, it's less impressive. The door to the room was hard to open and shut, especially if you have something large to bring in the door like a stroller. The room looked clean, but at one point I spilled something on the carpet and the white towel I used to clean it up had black spots on it after rubbing the carpet. The wire shelving in the closet didn't seem like it had ever been cleaned as it was covered in sticky dust. Some things in the room seemed newly replaced, like the kitchen countertop. Some needed general maintenance like the loud squicky bedroom door, a pain when you have a sleeping child but you need to leave the room. The bed was fairly comfortable. They don't have small blankets/sheets for pack-n-plays, so bring your own baby/toddler blanket if needed. The walls are pretty thin, so we heard a lot of noise from neighbors. The pool also has fairly loud music playing on hotel speakers until 11pm, which we could hear with the door shut. The stairway in the hotel was really dirty. The stairway in the parking garage was worse, with rotting food and trash everywhere. The pool and hot tub were both very clean and nice to swim in. The breakfast was pretty good. For now (during COVID-19 pandemic) they have servers getting your breakfast for you. Those servers are very friendly. In fact, all the staff in the hotel are friendly. I did notice all staff were wearing masks. This hotel is located close to 29th Ave, giving you close and easy access to the Broadway at the Beach shopping center.

6.7.22 This isn't a fancy modern hotel BUT if your goal is to spend 90% of your time outdoors this is your place. Our room was clean and oceanfront with a balcony. Big dresser and closet for the clothes. The staff was absolutely wonderful with smiles, greeting everyone, providing answers to the most mundane Qs and helpful with restaurant suggestions etc. Jennifer at the front desk couldn't be nicer. Laura the bartender was energetic and fabulous. And the blonde young lady who helped with breakfast was fast, efficient and super nice. Towel and toiletries were replaced daily and garbage was taken out for us. The pool and hot tub were clean with enough towels for all. Our favorite part of this hotel and why we chose it was the green turf, tanning area with super soft, large lounge chairs, and umbrellas surrounded by palm trees. This was perfection as you could sit or layout, lounge, sleep, read etc all under the sun or in the shade. And then just walk down to the beach which is right in front of you. Renting the beach chairs is $10 from the lifeguard. This is not part of the hotel. They also rent umbrellas. The views from the Strand are incredible and you're only 20-25 min walk from the Sky Wheel. 35 min walk to Broadway at the Beach. 3 min to Starbucks. 9 minutes to Dollar General (for water, beach towels) and of walking distance to many restaurants (such as Sea Captain) and shops. And about 10-13 min Uber ride to Angelo's Steak & Seafood, Tbonz Restaurant etc. No hotel is perfect and of course all could use some updates. The Strand could use a 2nd women's bathroom on the 1st floor by the pool for example. But the beaches here are magnificent and the Strand provides fantastic customer service, perfect ocean front amwnities, and I absolutely loved my 8 days, 7 nights here. Thank You to the Strand for a great experience.
