Dunes Village Resort is celebrated for its family-friendly atmosphere and prime beachfront location, making it a hit with families seeking proximity to local attractions. While some guests praise the spacious rooms and sweeping views, others feel the accommodations are outdated and could benefit from a thorough cleaning. The indoor water park stands out as a highlight, though it's mentioned that some amenities could use an update. The staff earns accolades for their warm and professional service, but the value proposition receives mixed reviews, with concerns over high prices and additional fees.

Toni (the shift manager) is nothing short of AWESOME! She was a delight to work with. Being a business owner, it's not easy finding a leader like Toni who sets a great example for others to follow!!

The rest of the staff was also great, very courteous and polite!

Rooms were very clean and service was spot on. We had everything we needed in our room to make our family feel like home while on vacation.

Beach is super clean, pools and water park were as well.

Tons of stuff for the kids to do. They had a blast doing all the Easter programs.

We will be coming back next year for sure!

Toni save my room!!

(aka not the real Ben Affleck)

Overall, we truly had a great experience here! I went with my husband and almost 2 year old son. We booked the trip specifically with my son in mind and the trip was just as enjoyable for him (and us) as I had hoped. We even extended our stay while we were there.

Pros: Very kid friendly. The toddler "wet zones" and lazy rivers were usually not crowded. Tons of water features such as splash pads, water slides, pools, lazy rivers, etc. The resort restaurant (lunch/ dinner) was good. The bar was good. Very close to the beach. Hand sanitizer was available throughout the resort and in every elevator. The resort itself was very clean. Staff members were pleasant. Towels provided at the wet zones.
For me the location was a pro because it is in a more residential area, away from the strip/boardwalk so the beaches were less crowded. The resort is still very close to the boardwalk, Tanger outlet, grocery stores and tons of restaurants.

Cons: Our room and various spots throughout the resort had a sulfur smell. There was a thumb tack on our bed when we checked in (not sure what that was about). The room definitely could use updating, not the worst hotel room I've ever stayed in but definitely not the best. The beds were not super comfortable, neither were the pillows (but not terrible). The AC cover on the balcony had fallen off and was laying on the balcony with the backside of the unit exposed (the AC still worked great despite this though). The indoor lazy river was very hazy. The main swimming pools were often crowded (keep in mind we stayed during COVID19). The breakfast buffet was closed due to covid and the carry out breakfast was decent. Also due to covid there was no room service which was okay but you have to request and pick up everything you need from the front desk so fresh towels provided would have been nice.
My biggest complaint is the room keys! As soon as we got our room keys and drove across the street to the parking garage, the key had deactivated. Got new keys, went up to the room and once again they had deactivated. Four more failed keys, we finally requested a new room since we had yet to get into our original room. They gladly gave us a new one however we still had to get new keys made every single day of our stay because apparently the room keys deactivate very easily if in close proximity to any other debit card, credit card or cell phone.

Also note that there were fireworks on the beach almost every night which was cool but also difficult for a toddler trying to sleep.

Again, overall it was a truly great stay and we all had a blast.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I am so glad you found our resort to be toddler friendly, I know with Covid it can be hard to find things to do with a 2 year old. I am also very glad to hear that you found our resort to be clean and our staff to be friendly. we try to make every guest feel this way. I am sorry that there were a few issues in your room. I have spoken to my housekeeping and maintenance departments about making sure they are being thorough and not missing these things. I have also spoken to maintenance about the lazy rivers. I also apologize for the room keys I know they can be frustrating at times. We hope you will stay with us again next time you are in Myrtle Beach! Best Regards, Meagan Morgan Front Office Manger

We love coming to Dunes Village, the resort is in a great location. Away from the all the noise and craziness, but still very close to everything. I love the "private" area away from it all. Very family oriented. We come all the time and plan to come back. I have noticed small upgrades here and there as time has passed like the towels and pool tables. The front desk people were so nice and Kim did everything to make sure our stay was great. She was always helpful ( I had her on my trip this past week and 4th of July weekend) and both times have been awesome! Whenever we needed anything from house keeping, they brought it quickly. Which is nice because in years previous, we always had issues with housekeeping. Social distancing has made it easier to have better access to housekeeping since they aren't cleaning the rooms daily. One thing I do wish they did was clean around the indoor and outdoor pool areas a little better. Unfortunately, some guests are slobs and leave their towels and trash in places and for the ones who don't (us) we would like to have a cleaner experience. For the most part, we see that the employees are working hard to give us a great experience at Dunes which is nice. The restaurant has delicious food downstairs too and great prices comparable to restaurants in the area. I would rather eat there than go out sometimes because their prices were low and the food was actually better than some other restaurants out.

My son made reservations for Monday 2 Friday morning. they got their Monday 1:30 everything looks very nice people were very nice to get up into the room the place is empty water bottles outside on the balcony empty water bottles underneath the couch. They went to bed that night woke up 6 in the morning my son went to make coffee he moved the coffee pot cockroaches running around baby cockroaches. Meanwhile he had to wake up his wife and for kids everybody was so upset they were crying. He went downstairs told the front desk they moved them over to one building with a upgrade. Meanwhile him and his wife and everybody had to move everything from one building to another 6:30 in the morning worrying if they bought the cockroaches back to the next place. Had to buy bug bombs to make sure there was none. they told him to come back later that day to talk to a manager which he did she said she was going to see what she could do about his bill he checked out Friday morning nothing was done. There vacation was ruined they did enjoy the rest of the stay.

We stay at Dunes Village resort for an entire week between Christmas and New Years every year. While taking into consideration of the COVID-19 procedures, our stay was not as fun as years in the past. Paying $2000 for the week and not getting turn down service even once seems a bit pricy. Bathrooms were not as clean as I expected. Simply wiping down counters and cupboards would have fixed this. With 6 people staying in the condo, towels, toilet paper, and dish detergent was needed daily. After calling guest services, it always took an hour for them to be brought to our room. Staff was not very friendly and acted like we were a bother. The guest bedroom had 2 beds and one bed was broken and creaked every time you moved.

As far as the water park, it was very dirty. Hair and gunk floating around the water and the pool looked murky. We tried to use the outside lazy river and hot tub but the weather didn't allow that as much. I was considering other locations in Myrtle Beach but I know how much my younger boys like it here at Dunes Village. For the price we paid and service received, we could have had the same elsewhere for about half the price.

What a disappointment. This probably was the place to stay in the past but I cannot get over the filth and general need for upgrades and repairs. Couldn’t touch the Murphy bed
Handles they felt like they were coated glue they were so sticky. Also, every single knob and and fixture as well. Sticky and disgusting. Pulled out the pull out for the kids and it was covered in chips, Cheetos, and fruit snacks. Fitted sheet on queen bed had some nice yellow stains all over it. A “feminine hygiene” liner from a new bathing suit on the floor. Indoor water areas reeked of raw sewage and water quality was questionable. Cleaning smears all over every single Surface. I get if your not going to clean rooms daily due to “social distancing” but this room was very poorly “cleaned” before we got here. To whoever stays in this room next, you are welcome, I cloroxed every surface possible as well as Lysoled the fabric furniture that was also terribly stained. We considered checking right back out but sucked it up for the kids that sat in a car for 11 hours to get here. Very sad this was our vacation for the year.

Great stay, despite coronavirus craziness. Staff did a great job of keeping the water park area clean - towels always available. Saw them picking up trash and debris in the parking lots often. Beds were comfy, icemaker was nice. Great view of the ocean.
Some minor gripes:
Wish Starbucks took gift cards for rewards points. Coffee from previous guest was still in the pot, plates had dried food from previous guest, not enough utensils for cooking (only a slotted spoon, rubber spatula, pie spatula, and salad tongs). Leather chair had wear and writing on it, door stop made a hole in the master bedroom door from previous guest. No dishwasher detergent, paper towels, sponge or dish towel. They were quick to pick up towels and trash in hallway since housekeeping was not coming in rooms due to covid19. Would have been nice if towels, TP, dish soap, and trash bags were dropped off regularly. Had to go to front desk for replacements. Internet was spotty in many places and elevators were slow. Parking across the street was a minor annoyance... not a lot of room in front of the resort when packed during check in and check out. Found a BIG cockroach in the room, but just one. Otherwise, bug free. Would definitely return!

We absolutely loved our stay at Dunes Village Resort! Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The room was clean, spacious, and well-kept. Our view from the balcony was wonderful. Our daughter enjoyed the waterparks and playground so much! The pools were also very clean. The resort is an incredible value, especially because we booked with the promotion for the two free breakfast vouchers every morning. The bartenders at the tiki bar & the indoor bar were fantastic as well, and the coffee shop served Starbucks coffee, which was a nice bonus! Housekeeping did not come into the room due to COVID guidelines, but they did make sure we always had everything we needed at the front desk, and did great with picking up trash and used towels/linens. Parking is across the street at this resort in a parking garage, but we always felt safe walking to and from the parking garage, and there were plenty of spots available. All in all, a GREAT experience, and we will definitely stay here next time we travel to Myrtle Beach!

So first let me say I too searched reviews of others when picking this place, that said based on those reviews I wasn't expecting a 5 star experience, however I was expecting a clean edifice especially during this pandemic. The tub in the master bathroom had mold in the jets (I brought some bleach cleaned it myself ) I will be posting pictures, the pillows were disgusting, with visible brown stuff. The other bathroom tub had some quick fix patch that fell off to expose more dirt, the kitchen utensils were dirty. The carpets need to be cleaned or replaced, the base bored on the bathroom vanity completely off, housekeeping and maintenance were just negligent, this is my second hotel stay since the pandemic the first location I stayed at on a separate occasion went out of its way to make sure their guest felt comfortable & confident that they had done everything possible to keep it clean, the one positive thing to add is that my kids enjoyed the water park. I didn't bother to call the front desk to complain when I checked in I was told that the rooms are owned by private owners and updates, if any are made by them so that basically told me they are not responsible. From a business stand point alone with the hospitality industry in such trouble you'd think people with jobs would actually do them. The rooms are defiantly poorly kept but I should add that I didn't see any bugs. My suggestion would be keep looking or bring a can of Lysol some bleach and disposable gloves!!!

We decided two weeks before the trip to go as this is my 17year old’s last break with the family.
This hotel was steps from the beach.
My seven year old loved the water park in the tower we were in.
The kitchenette had a full sized stove and a coffee maker. Front desk staff was super friendly, the room was clean. Even though I only asked for fresh towels so the housekeeper didn’t have to clean around my teenagers stuff, they still wiped everything down and freshened up the bathroom.
I could sit on my balcony and watch the ocean.
It was a great stay with a fantastic value
My only complaint would be the shower head didn’t spray properly, but it was still early in the season so I am sure it will be fixed before peak

Yes. Dunes is made up of 2 hotels that are part of the same complex (you have to walk across a public parking area). Each building has both indoor and outdoor water options. Sometimes it is just a matter of going where the other people are not, but outside is usually better for getting away. The indoor area is definitely louder. While there are going to be kids everywhere, if I were looking for a calmer more adult focused place I would probably choose a different resort (like Southwind or Island Vista).
