I’m a long-standing and loyal Hilton elite member, and we went as part of a HGVC marketing package. The only good aspect of this hotel was the beachfront location and beach views from the room. That was lovely. However, the hotel is nowhere near a “four star” quality rating. Rooms are basic and small, service was poor, as were the facilities (eg, pools). In general the place is a bit of a dump. Two days we had no room service - when I called to ask, the response from the hotel was that room service goes until 6pm. 6pm?? Are they kidding? And the hotel appeared to be mostly empty at the time. Beware airplanes - the hotel is directly under the flight path of planes taking off, and it is very very loud, all day/night. Admittedly, there is massive construction going on, and I understand the impact this can make. However, they could have done something for guests to make up for only one basic restaurant being open. And for all of the chaos/noise. I will never stay at this place again.

Hotel's Favourite
Our stay here was very pleasant. A clean comfortable room although in a different location than the main hotel, still nice. Only thing we found annoying was the air planes flying so close overhead. Loved the warm cookies and friendly staff upon checkin. Would love to stay longer next time.

This hotel was dirty, had roaches, and most amenities were closed. I understood that some of the hotel was under construction, but I didn't know that the whole place was. The hotel website said that the restaurant was closed but not that the main pools were closed, including the one pictured everywhere with the ocean view, the pool cabanas, and the pool bar! The pool tables and ping pong tables were also closed in the construction zone. The halls and elevators smelled like weed so bad. We saw 2 cockroaches in our room the day we were leaving. Disgusting and I would never recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed in December and I apologize for the delay in posting my review. We have had a lot going on. Excellent staff especially Susan at the Front Desk, the room was exceptionally clean. Every staff member you met in passing was friendly. We only had one issue, with our fridge on the blink and it was promptly taken care of. Susan and maintenance took care of the fridge, my mother has expensive meds that must be refrigerated so a working fridge is important for us traveling. Any questions we had about the resort, etc. was quickly answered by Susan or Noah. We had a wonderful vacation, my mother is on dialysis, we try to make every minute count, every day. We can’t travel like we did when we were younger due to her health issues. Our family has been staying at the Springmaid Pier/Beach area since the Nash’s Apartments owned by Mrs. Nash and Springmaid Beach Resort were there that was owned by Mr.Springs. We had our concerns when it was sold to Hilton because we loved the former staff of both places, but Susan and Noah has proven great customer service with quality, clean rooms continue to live on at DoubleTree by Hilton. The entire resort staff and the staff at the pier are exceptional as well. I regret I don’t remember their names. Thank you for being a part of our making memories. Hope to see you all again soon!

There are many Hilton brand options that cost less and require less points and haven't stayed here recently. This is a very large, spread-out hotel. There is a lot of construction and upgrades taking place. We were in the remodeled portion. The room was beautiful, comfortable, and the renovation was amazing. We stayed here after the hotel first became a Double Tree and the remodel was "lipstick on a pig" and we began staying in other Hilton brands several times per year. We were pleasantly surprised with the very positive changes with the Double Tree. Check in was across the street and the restaurant in the hotel was closed. Both are part of the remodel, and the inconvenience was minimal. The employees were very nice at check in and very accommodating. The restaurant at the pier was open, more casual than the hotel, but good. Yes, there is a lot of construction, the oceanfront restaurant isn't open, and planes go over the hotel at about 6:15AM. Construction has to be done in the off season to accommodate the number of guests that come to Myrtle Beach. In the summer the majority of the construction issues will be resolved. The planes will be going over, as they have for years, and the Double Tree may want to consider giving guests earplugs as they did in the past and not during this stay. We packed our own.

We booked an oceanfront room and paid premium for it, but when we got there the desk agent said very non chalantly that that was an extra $50 up charge. We double checked the booking. It definitely said ocean facing. Not partial. But oceanfacing. The room they gave us could barely see the water, and faced a huge construction site with large earth digging equipment. How does a room cost almost $200 in winter, with construction equipment close enough to touch? They kept our $50 incidental charge. I specifically asked what the $50 was for and was told directly, for incidentals, it will be released upon checkout. When I called, they said it was a resort fee. This is a resort???? Also, it was a parking fee. News flash WE TOOK AN UBER. These people are thieves and liars all around. Stay away!!!!!

We had stayed here in the past, and it was OK, can't remember any negatives. So I reserved a room for 3 nights via my Hilton App. Things have changed a lot, and not for the better. The property is in a redevelopment mode. I had to pay an additional "Resort Fee" even though there is nothing on the property that currently resembles a resort. The room was clean; that was the positive. The building is in a state of repair. In fact the first floor of the building we were in had all of the toilets on the balconies while (I assume) they were renovating the rooms. In our room, the mattress and the couch are worn out. If you sit against the armrest on the couch, you lean to the center. When I got into bed I felt like I was on an angle. There is a sign in the elevator showing a "Lobby Bar." The "Lobby" doesn't exist anymore. The on site restaurant isn't even in the building -- it's down at the waterfront, as part of the pier. In fact, I found no evidence at all of any "resort.." I had to contact them to report that the in room safe wouldn't work. While we were out they did fix it. My digital key worked -- for about 8 hours. By that time I was so disappointed I didn't even bother reporting it. In the room there was no hotel information, not even a guide to the available channels on the TV. The only way to find anything was to scroll through all the channels, even when you knew what you were looking for. I got a call the first night from Maureen, the "concierge," who asked me to come over to get my "Welcome Package." It turned out to be a stupid coupon book, and an invitation to attend a meeting about the resort and HGC corporation that is managing the resort. We decided to try the indoor pool. The room was dripping in condensation, but the water was no more than tepid. And as I stepped into it, I disturbed a collection of dirt on the step. I had obviously not been cleaned in a while. So, I paid extra resort fees for something that's nothing like a resort, with the assumption that it was up to Hilton standards. I'll be sending a note to Hilton Hotels to advise them on my dissatisfaction with this place, and I can assure you that we won't be coming back. There's plenty of good places with better value.

The staff was the best! They went far and beyond to make our stay better. I would give the staff a 5-star rating for certain. The only problem, I had was that we were paying regular price for our room when half of the amenities were unavailable such and the indoor swimming, lazy-river, hot-tub, etc. There was debris all about as the hotel was redoing the swimming and other facilities. It said online that the pools would be available after January 8, 2024. We got there on January 11, 2024 and there were no pool availability. etc. Since it was January, it wasn’t like we could swim in the ocean. At the very least, our room rate should've been discounted a lot! When were checked in on the 11th of January, we were given a King bed, with a pull-out couch. There were three of us gals, so it worked. It was especially nice with the kitchen, extra seating, balcony, etc. But the next morning we were told that we had to be moved because we were in the "wrong room". We were supposed to go to a double queen with no seating or extra space and no kitchenette. For extra money, we decided we would stay where we were because who wants to have to move once you're in your hotel? That was the biggest issue. I'm sure that the hotel is really nice when not under construction.
