I booked this hotel based on prior experience with Sleep Inn. My sister and I arrived in Orangeburg on a nasty, rainy evening after traveling from the eastern panhandle of WV. The hotel was easy to find. The room was fine, shower was great, and beds were comfy. And it was close to lots of eateries. However, the AC/heat was a bit noisy, and I heard noise off and on from outside all night. The breakfast was awesome, more than enough to get us on the road to Orlando. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I didn’t stay there on our return trip because the rate was much higher.

Overall nice for what we were looking for which was 1 night stopover on a long drive. Small parking lot. Nothing fancy. Tiny bathroom. Would be curious to see how big the ADA bathrooms are. Room has a fridge that can hold several drinks, no freezer. Microwave, desk, those coffee pots that only work with the pre-measured coffee bags they provide.
We’d stay again because it served its purpose.

Easy check in. Comfy clean bed. Nice hot shower. The room smelled funky so I sprayed some Lysol air freshener. The floor and table tops appeared clean however the floor by the beds were sticky. too much soap in the cleaning solution ?? Bathroom was fine. It was a bit pricey. $125 with tx & fees appears improvements are being made.

I don't know if it was the hotel or the bookonline.com service but for a $101 per night room we were charged $150 with additional "taxes and fees". My wife claims she made the reservation using the number provided by the hotel website. It was late, northbound traffic was intense, my wife has a hard time working a cell phone, so we took it to secure a room (and they were sold out by the time we got there an hour later). This is a a sub $100 level hotel.

Decor is ugly, bathroom was a closet off the bedroom, hallways show their age. Room was clean. mattresses were good. Breakfast bar was clean and well stocked including fresh fruit and waffle maker. Convenient at intesection I26 and US21. Plenty of low class chain restaurants within a half mile.

Pluses: Quiet room, comfortable bed, good breakfast choices. Minuses: Battered doors. stained sheets, dead bug under matress, mosquito in shower. Room may have been clean but it didn't feel it. The sheet stains looked washed out but it made you wonder if the linens were changed, hot water in shower but not in sink.

My room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The place isn’t fancy, but considering the reasonable price, it is good value. I left before the breakfast was served. So I can’t comment on that. I would stay here again.

I stayed in a room on the 3rd floor. Upon waking up, I found a bed bug on the curtain. After calling the front desk, I was told that finding a bed bug was "absolutely impossible".

Donna, at the front desk, said she'd be right up. After waiting 10 minutes, I called back down to see when she anticipated coming back up. She said that her manager told her no to come up. They were going to send David, from the janitorial staff, up to confirm that it was a bed bug. After waiting another 20 minutes or so, David showed up, and confirmed that it was a bed bug.

We asked for plastic trash bags to place our things in, and David got them for us. We packed up our things and headed to the front desk to ask for a refund. Upon arriving downstairs, Donna said that no refund could be given until an exterminator arrived to confirm that it was, in fact, a bed bug.

We were told the manager would contact us with the results either way. Over a week later, and we were never contacted. I contacted Choice Hotels, and they told me they'd process my refund. They said that they were escalating to a 'formal complaint', and I would get a call from the manager within 72 hours. This never happened.

I was informed over a week later that an exterminator came and there were no bed bugs in the room. Therefore, no refund would be given.

Overall the room seemed to be dingy and outdated. The pillows were stained. I will never stay at a Choice Hotel again.

Response from hoodbd, General Manager at Sleep Inn
Responded Jan 6, 2016
We like every other branded hotel take bed bugs very serious. We have had our property thoroughly checked and we do not have bed bugs. We did have an unusually warm fall with much rain and floods but no bed bugs. Thanks, Barry D. Hood

On July, 7th my family and I stayed at this hotel for one night. After comparing reviews with other nearby by places, my mother thought this place was the best fit.

Pros:
- decent location
- decent beds and pillows

Cons:
- As soon as we entered the room we attempted to adjust the a.c to a more comfortable temperature but it did not work. Response from the front desk: Nothing we can do.

- We attempted to connect to the wifi and were not able to. Response from the front desk: Try turning your devices on and off again. -_- Second response from the front desk: Oh yeah wifi doesn't work on the 4th floor.

- My sister and I decided to attempt to relax elsewhere so we went to the pool. Unfortunately we didn't stay for long because the janitor decided to join us for a swim. No you read that right. When we first entered the pool the janitor was replacing trash bags. He gave us a perverted smile and then left and returned with his bathing suit. He then proceeded to remove his uniform starting with his shirt, then his socks and shoes, and then wrapped a towel around his waist as he removed his underwear. His weird looking friends/coworkers?? decided to hang over the pool fence as well. Response from the front desk: Umm yeah employees are free to use the pool but he shouldn't have undressed in front of you uh....would you like some towels for the pool?

- The shower wouldn't have been so bad if there wasn't hair all over the shower door and hair embedded on the towels and wash cloths. Response from the front desk: uh sorry.

- Garbage under the beds

- Toilet stopped working properly

- Fridge stinks

In summary, if you absolutely must stay at this hotel do not stay for more than one night. Keep your eyes open if you decide to go to the pool. Check your bathroom, sheets, floors.....just check everything. And check to see if your a.c even works. Would not return or recommend.

We were there for the eclipse and of course everything was sold out. We took this because it is a Choice Hotel. So very old and outdated, would not stay there again. The price was outrageous because of the eclipse. Skip this one.
