Just what we needed..... clean, comfortable room, friendly service. Room was nice and quiet. Stopping through on way south so happy to have found just what we needed at an affordable price. Staff is very accommodating.

We were glad to find the room for the eclipse, which was a once in a lifetime experience. They jacked up the price to over $200 per night, but I'm sure all the hotels in the totality zone did the same. At least we helped out the local economy.

The room was your average first floor motel room and was clean. The TV in the room was huge and the sheets were crisp and clean. The towels were very stratchy and the room had a weird sanitized smell. Got used to the smell after a while. The room had a fridge and microwave, which was very nice because we wound up with leftovers from our dinner, which we reheated the next day for breakfast. The complimentary breakfast looked like your typical fare. We just had coffee and fruit because we had our own leftovers. The staff was very friendly and pleasant. Because there is no pool or other amenities, I wouldn't stay here again unless I was just passing through (and hopefully not for the crazy eclipse price).

What I loved about this place was the warm, friendly staff who comes and opens the door to welcome you. The room was clean for the most part but had an oppressively high humidity that smelled like it was on the verge of mold. The refrigerator was mildewed. I recommend that the hotel buy some dehumidifiers and turn them on when rooms are vacant. They should replace carpet, but they certainly need to frequently wash and clean bedding and drapery until they have the problem under control. They may need to do more to refresh the rooms than all of these.

Stopped on the way to Florida. Just needed a bed for the night. Upon entering the room, we were hit with an overpowering smell of potpourri/perfume. We felt something was being covered up. It was difficult to sleep due to the smell and it was too late to try to get another room. Would not stay again.

Not only was the hotel overpriced and run down, but Ieesha basically verbally attacked us over tickets for the continental breakfast. She was irate and confrontational for absolutely no reason. Honestly it was one of the most bizarre experiences we have ever had while traveling which culminated in her asking us to leave immediately. We went to eat with three tickets for three guests and somehow that was not sufficient. As we were leaving we noticed she called the police, which at that point was rather comical. I'd avoid this hotel at all costs.

This is a place we have given great reviews. It is a place we stayed each year coming back from a WV family reunion.
1) NO cars in the dirty parking lot.
2) first room was dusty on the appliances and smelled like cat pee. Reported it to the clerk. She gave us another room. Reloaded the car and moved to another room.
3) Got all settled in to the next room. Laying in bed I pulled down the cover and saw a black bug. Pulling them down more, another black bug. We reported, (and gave her the bugs wrapped in a Kleenex) it to the clerk and said we could not stay there and would like a reimbursement. She said we had to contact the owner who would be in on Tuesday. I waited to see if my bank account was reimbursed. As of yet 6 days later, NO. Called yesterday and owner was not there. Clerk said call tomorrow between 7:00 and 3:00. Called at 10:00 a.m. Clerk said to call back at 1:00 She said the owner said he would not reimburse my money. This is disturbing and unfair. I will never stay or stop there again.

I stepped up to the "after-hours window" at about 11:30 pm on a Wednesday night. This was the third inn I checked at Exit 145A (I-26). The first two didn't have the accommodations I was hoping for. I told the rep I wanted two adjoining, ground-floor, non-smoking rooms for myself, my wife and our four teen-agers. (Dad and two boys in one room; Mom and two girls in another room.) I started to fill out the paperwork. The rep took the paper away and told me to list "one adult, one child per room." I again explained that we had four teen-agers, so there would be an adult and two "kids" in each room. She said (again) to fill it out the way she had said. So I complied. She then gave me FOUR vouchers for breakfast for the following morning. I asked whether we could pay for two more breakfasts. She responded that -- if we came in before 7:00 am (when management arrived) -- she would let us have SIX breakfasts with only the FOUR vouchers. This all seemed a little strange to me, but we had traveled all day and were expecting a long drive the next day, so I did what I was told and went to our rooms for some rest. The next morning, when I took our two youngest (14 and 15) to the lobby for breakfast at about 8:00 am, I presented two of the vouchers to Ieesha and said I would not be eating. She became upset and told us that NONE of us could eat breakfast and we would need to check out immediately. She was going on about how I had falsified the registration and owed another $30.00 per room for the "extra guests." When I tried to explain what had happened the night before, she refused to listen and kept telling me I need to check out immediately. She was actually quite rude and showed the worst customer treatment I have ever been subjected to. She accused me of treating HER "like a dog," because (she alleged) I "threw the vouchers in her face." I assured her that I had no intention of paying more than the price I was quoted when I checked in and told her I wanted an itemized receipt for what her company would be charging my credit card. When I declined to leave without my receipt, she called law enforcement to have me "escorted off the property." Within minutes, the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department responded with a corporal, a patrol officer, a detective and two or three others who waited outside. I explained the situation just as it happened and the corporal told the "manager" (Ieesha) that she was not to charge me any more than the price quoted the night before. As of Friday evening (when we were back home in Florida), it appears that Ieesha DID in fact place additional charges on my credit card. NOW, I will need to follow up to see that justice is done in this situation. PLEASE . . . PLEASE . . . PLEASE . . . NEVER patronized the Southern Lodge in Orangeburg, SC. I'm AMAZED they can stay in business when they treat paying customers in such a hostile way.

The parking lot of this motel is not empty for no reason. Rooms are very dingy and have not been remodeled for quite some time. I instantaneously felt uncomfortable to the point that I slept on top of the bedding instead of under it. To top it off, the rooms are advertised at $49.95. Upon asking about the special rate, I was told it was for truckers and nurses. Truckers and nurses? I ended up paying $68.75. I was halfway through a trip from Pennsylvania to Florida and needed a place to rest overnight so I went along with it, not knowing how bad the rooms are. They offer continental breakfast, but based on the condition of the room, I was afraid to eat at the motel and ate breakfast elsewhere. If you ever come across this particular motel, avoid it, and go across the street to the busier motels, pay a little more. At all cost, avoid Southern Lodge in Orangeburg, SC!

Warm welcome by staff (Minnita) on arrival. Registering was simple. Room was very clean and well equipped with amenities (everything from oral hygiene products to facial products for both men and women and bath products) as well as hairdryer, refrigerator and TV. They also had in the lobby for purchase, (wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages). The room had a king size bed that was very comfortable and having had back surgery, I know comfort. Breakfast was both hot and cold items (cereals, eggs, bacon, sausage & biscuits, etc.). Morning staff (Ieesha) graciously explained everything that was available. Food was good and hot. Southern Lodge was located on the left immediately off the exit. Many good restaurants in the area.

Wow!!! When we arrived, Bianca and Iyonna held the door open for us, introduced themselves and "checked us in." Apples and oranges were a welcoming treat! We stayed in room 101 with one king bed. This motel is on one floor and you park right at your door:)! It was EXTREMELY CLEAN, having had no smoking or pets in our room:)!!! The room was well equipped with amenities and the internet worked wonderfully as did everything else in the room. (We were given a card with the username and password in the little envelope that was given us with our room keys. This was great and very helpful!) The next morning, the door was held open for us again and two more ladies introduced themselves and welcomed us to breakfast! The cinnamon bagels were incredibly fresh and delicious! Cookies and cinnamon rolls were individually wrapped for freshness. Hard boiled eggs were already peeled:)! Yogurt, sausage/biscuits, bacon, cereal, drinks, etc. made for a nice continental breakfast! Thank you, thank you, thank you for a reasonably priced clean and wonderful motel!!!!! (We also received a farewell ziploc bag in which the staff had put a pad of paper with their contact information, a coupon for $5 off our next stay with a nice message at the bottom and three mints...A cup and pen also sent us on our way:) We would return and highly recommend this clean, welcoming and well kept motel.

I don't know the physical addresses, but the one you want to stay at is right off the interstate exit. The other is located closer within the town of Orangeburg. Check the locations of each in the map and you can see clearly which one is which.
