I booked this hotel based on reviews here on TripAdvisor. I really have to question the credibility of the reviewers because there is no way this could be called the Number 1 Hotel in Orangeburg.
The gals at check in are just as others describe, and that is probably the only positive thing I can say.
The room's foul odor hit us the minute we opened the door. I generously sprayed everything with Clorox disinfectant spray. We were only going to be there for eight hours or so and we were too tired to hunt for another room.
We brought in only the necessities for one night. The items brought in picked up the odor of the room. When we took off our shoes, we discovered the rug was damp. When we pulled down the sheets, we discovered that the sides of the box spring mattress were disgusting. The bed itself was uncomfortable. There was arguing in the next room until the wee hours of the morning. Someone may have attempted to break into our car at about 12:30 as our car alarm went off. I popped out the door to see someone run into a room two doors away. An hour later, a noisy-mufflered car started up and ran for about five minutes before roaring out of the parking lot. Thirty minutes later it returned. We got very little sleep.
Before hitting the road in the morning, we decided to take advantage of the breakfast offerings. As another reviewer noted, you are not welcome to take more than the management deemed reasonable and would be charged accordingly. I'm not sure why they were worried about anyone taking too much as the choices were not very appealing. In fact, this was the worst breakfast I have ever seen at a hotel.
Also, it is somewhat disturbing that the desk staff keep the door locked and unlock it to allow their customers in to register or check out.
I would agree with another reviewer in saying that Southern Lodge is more of a pay-by-the-hour business than a comfortable place for travelers.
Please take this warning. Do not stay at Southern Lodge.

First, let me give HUGE KUDOS to front desk staff members, Shelby and Ieesha (her name is pronounced "eye-ee-sha")! I had never even heard of Southern Lodge, so I stopped by on Monday afternoon just to look at the place. Shelby was very friendly and knowledgeable. I explained that I had seen this hotel on Hotels.com and saw a great price; she explained the process to me thoroughly and I was convinced to come over the very next day. I check out of my previous hotel and came to Southern Lodge the next morning; I was greeted with an open door by Ieesha. Ieesha was another delightful, knowledgeable staff member. I was concerned that in order to get the lower price on hotels.com I had to book a smoking room. I am allergic to smoke! however, Ieesha assured me the room would be ok for me; she was correct! The room was great! It even had a great little basket full of toiletries - not just your standard shampoo and lotion. I will be staying here the next time I travel through this area.

My husband and I stayed here on our trip back to SC find this hotel to have very clean room with lots of space to move around. Was greeted by a very friendly young lady that opens the door for you and shake your hand when heading you your room key. The price was great , breakfast was nice and at check out you have the same friendly goodbye .
I would stay here again very very sweet ladies that make you feel at home.

We got there around 11:00 PM exhausted after a full day of driving. Based on the reviews on TripAdvisor we decided that we would try this place as it looked like a decent place to spend the night. Although the rate on the website said 55$ we were asked for 80$, we agreed to the rate just to be able to finally get into a room and sleep.
When we got into the room we were absolutely shocked of the conditions. The bathroom was absolutely filthy, the shower was an improvised plastic thing which barely worked and the bed was an absolute mess. The pillows had yellow marks and were filthy. We just could not make ourselves get in the bed it was so deplorable.
We left the room right away and asked for a refund. The clerk approved of our refund but said that the manager would call us in the morning and do the refund then. This never happened and we ended up charging back so we could get our money back.
I would strongly suggest avoiding this dirty and outdated motel.

I had a great evening at the Southern Lodge. I was passing through and arrived in the late evening. The parking lot and lobby entrance were lit and there was plenty of parking availability. I got to park directly in front of my room. I felt very safe. The hospitality was amazing. The two employees I interacted with were very kind and helpful (they even held the door open). The only complaint I had was that my room smelt of a hint of cigarette smoke, but nothing unbearable. The breakfast was just enough. They had bagels, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, yogurt, orange juice, and the such. Nothing too extravagant, but like I said it was just enough and the employee ( Iiesha I believe her name was) was keeping everything supplied and attending to costumers in the lobby and was simply one of the most pleasant people I have met. I would recommend Southern Lodge to my friends and family and will be keeping it in mind for my future travels.

We found this spot on trivago and were very happy. The room was a great size, clean, and comfortable. It was a great value, it included the use of a fridge and microwave and there was a great selection of breakfast food In the lobby. Great bonus was the laundry facilities onsite. We would stay here again .

Very friendly welcome by Tanika, we had a comfortable room, very clean, quiet, and a good night's sleep. Breakfast was good to get an early start for a long drive home. Ieesha took care of us in the morning, directing us to the breakfast area, and offered any assistance. Also easy parking in front of our room as the lodge is on one floor.

I recently found myself having to travel to Orangeburg, SC on business. I read reviews of the hotels in the area and the Southern Lodge had pretty good reviews compared to the others in the area, and the price was a little better than the rest. Upon arrival I was greeted with the most charming lady, very funny and friendly. Go to the room, appears to be clean, and for the most part was. Walked to the bathroom, and there were cigarette burn stains on the tub, not just 1-2, talking 10-12 all along the side of the tub. That was the only part I can complain about on cleanliness. Go to sit down in the "dinette" area of the room, and the chair felt like it was going to fall through, uncomfortable. Now for the bed.....I went to lay down and felt a crumpling. The bed was covered with a plastic cover. That wasn't the only uncomfortable part, I felt EVERY spring inside the mattress. Too tired to complain, check out and find another room I decided to make the most of it. Woke up the next morning with an aching back, showered and went down for breakfast. It was a mediocre breakfast, nothing to brag about. Next time I stay in Orangeburg, I will pay a bit more for a good bed and breakfast!

Stopped here for one night on the way to Charleston from Atlanta. Chose this place based on some positive Tripadvisor reviews. The room smelt musty and we found cockroaches in there as well. When we complained to the front desk staff they did not apologise and said that it was 'South Carolina...what did we expect?'
We then asked to speak to the manager/owner, but the receptionist said he was not present and could not be contacted. We left our contact details for the owner to get in touch with us. After a week we still have not heard anything.

I didn't know there were two, so I guess I can't help.
I don't know the physical addresses, but the one you want to stay at is right off the interstate exit. The other is located closer within the town of Orangeburg. Check the locations of each in the map and you can see clearly which one is which.
I did not see any pets at all on the grounds so I would say NO
I don't have any pets so I don't know.
