This motel reinforces the reputation of southern hospitality. The staff was friendly and made me feel that my business was appreciated. I thought that there was a problem with the TV remote and the clerk walked me to our room and showed me the problem. It was a basic mistake on my part which could have been brushed off with a quick explanation. I was tired from driving all day and I appreciated that someone took charge of my problem. The rooms are basic motel rooms but ours was clean and the beds were very comfortable. I have never seen so many complimentary toiletries in a mid-range motel room. The 'free' breakfast was a cut above many, mainly because there was fresh fruit beyond the standard of apples and oranges. Again good service. when I asked if there was any more sliced bread, the clerk brought some immediately.

We have gone to the Southern Lodge off I20 for the past 4 years on our anniversary because they have a big 2 person jacuzzi tub. The owner is a very nice hospitable gentleman, and he seems to remember us each year. My husband and I look forward to our visit each year. The room is clean and appears well kept.

We stopped here going south, then stopped again on the way north. Sam is an outstanding person. He will go all out to make sure your stay is without any problems. I've stayed in many hotels/motels, this is the only one that makes you feel like it's home! Stop here and you too will be glad you did.

We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Rooms were large and clean. The breakfast was one of the best we have found on the road. From baconand eggs to hot cereal and it begins at 5am for those wanting an early start. If I was anywere in this area I would surelystop here again.

We own a timeshare in Georgia and have found the perfect place to stop over on the long ride from our home in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia to our destination onTybee Island, Georgia.
At the outskirts of the town of Orangeburg, SC (Interstate 26 @ Exit 145-A) we always spend a restful night at Southern Lodge. The first time my husband and I stayed here, we met "Mr. Sam" (Patel), the owner and received excellent advice on how to spend a couple of hours exploring Orangeburg and specifically the Edisto River on route to our timeshare in Georgia. Before we leave, we always have a wonderful breakfast that is included in the nightly fee. I cannot begin to describe what variety a Southern Lodge breakfast includes and how good everything tastes - you simply have to experience it yourself. Take my word - it beats the Hampton Inn. By the way, for dinner the night before there are many options to choose among in the area but we always end up at Cracker Barrel.
Just as the breakfast has endless options, Mr.Sam has thought of everything a traveler might have forgotten at home and has a complimentary welcome basket of toiletries ready.

I was leary of checking into an "older" mom and pop type hotel - not a national chain. But we were tired. Walking into the lobby, it was clean and the desk attendant was extremely friendly and pleasant. Room was as advertised. We pulled around and parked our truck and trailer in the parking provided for trucks and trailers and warily opened the door to our room. Wow! I was amazed! It was ultra clean, smelled great and was nicely furnished! Obviously had been remodeled and being a smoke free room (from what I assume from years of being a smoking room), there was not one lingering odor or sign of it. All new carpets, bedding - etc. It was a quiet hotel, slept great. Will definitely go again.

What a dump. I recently had the misfortune of having to stay in this place because all of the other hotel and/or motel were sold out. The room rate was $86.00 and they didn't give any types of discounts (Military, AAA, AARP, etc, etc, etc). Aslo, the room had roaches, a crappy mattress that had deep indentations and squeaked with every movement, and the wall in the shower were brown from lack of proper cleaning. I can assure you that the next time I have to stay over night in Orangeburg, SC--I will ascertain I make reservations before I leave my home so that i can ensure I never have to stay at this roach motel and dump again.

Stayed one night as a halfway-point stopover. My husband wanted a room on ground floor level so we chose this place. Very glad we did! More amenities than I would've imagined, clean rooms, very friendly staff. I've stayed at chains costing twice the amount that weren't nearly as nice. We definitely recommend this.

The room was stink and hot. The bed is not comfortable. The light outside the room was very bright, so you can't sleep well at night with the light outside and the noise fm the AC. The staff was rude.

Don't go there!!

This motel was recommended through the South Carolina Welcome Centre. The smoke detector was hanging from ceiling, (we popped back in but batteries dead), grounds in coffee maker from previous traveller, room not tidy. We checked out 1/2 hour after we arrived and were advised we wouldn't be billed. We were, and we are still waiting for a credit on our charge account. Have tried speaking with supervisor, but she is not very helpful. Last call I was told that credit has been done but she was too busy to check as to when. We were there end of Jan and it's now middle of May. Would not recommend this motel..

I don't know the physical addresses, but the one you want to stay at is right off the interstate exit. The other is located closer within the town of Orangeburg. Check the locations of each in the map and you can see clearly which one is which.
