Nestled directly on the oceanfront, the appeal of The Oceanfront Litchfield Inn's location is undeniable, according to numerous guests. However, the inn often falls short of expectations, with many reviewers pointing out that the rooms and hotel atmosphere are in need of an update and better maintenance. Service, particularly housekeeping, has been a recurring concern, as visitors have encountered additional fees and challenges securing daily cleaning and fresh towels. Additionally, some travelers have called out the inn for not providing satisfactory value, citing unexpected charges and underwhelming amenities.

Management allowed us to cancel our reservation and refunded our security deposit after I suffered a devastating injury the first day of our stay before we could even check in. Much appreciated!! Such a blessing!

We visited Litchfield Inn for a four night, short vacation the last week of August. The room was a bit dated but extremely cozy. The staff was excellent and extremely helpful. Every employee was following a covid protocol by wearing masks. Also, there is no complimentary breakfast or house keeping services due to covid so we do recommend bringing your own broom to remove the sand you bring inside. Our bedroom was facing the poolside but you are still able to see the ocean. We were a bit unsure as to what to expect from our room. We were pleasantly surprised to find a small kitchenette within our room so we were also able to cook along with eating at many fabulous restaurants nearby. The location was absolutely perfect with it only being minutes from the grocery and other small, local spots. Overall, a fantastic getaway spot for all singles, couples, and families. We will definitely be back again!

We came for an overnight trip the Friday after Christmas but decided to stay the weekend. They were happy to oblige, but the room type we booked was not available for the second night (no problem). The first room was an oceanfront dunes that was on the corner of the pool. It was very clean, beautifully decorated and had a nice screened in porch with a picturesque view of the water between palm trees. At high tide, the water was pretty close to us, maybe 30 feet. We slept with the glass door open. The next day, we went for lunch and came back to the front desk for new room keys. Not only did they offer to move our belongings for us, but they also prioritized the cleaning of the new room with housekeeping and sent us to a 7th (top) floor stunning room with a sweeping view that overlooked almost panoramic to the end of the island. Two exceptional rooms and experiences.

Notes from past visits: This hotel gets it right by hiring a team that works well together to ensure that their guests are happy, comfortable and have a great vacation. The staff is wonderful. Front desk attendants are very welcoming and genuine. Housekeeping is very consistent with timing, do a great job and always seem friendly. We have stayed in every room type except for the villas and each one is uniquely decorated. No two seem to be alike, even the fixtures have special details that tie in to the room theme. The poolside tiki bar/restaurant is a great place to cool down in the summer and always has great food and drinks, above and beyond typical pool area food.

This is the very best beach that North/Central South Carolina has to offer. Though we both travel across the US quite often, this is our favorite SC beach escape and we’ve stayed about 10 times now. It sits on a great stretch of beach with low traffic. Time seems to slow down when we come here and it's come to feel like an old friend. We are planning another visit here in February. Besides the sand and the sun in the summer, there is also lots of wildlife to watch. We like to walk to the southernmost point at low tide up the inlet shores and watch the sea creatures roll back out to sea. Tons of crabs, small jellyfish, birds, turtles, fish schools can be seen in the clear and calm inlet water. It's a nice break from the wind.

The Oceanfront Litchfield Inn is a great location for nearly private beach access, incredible customer service, 2 swimming pools, a bar and choice of on site restaurants, both serving delicious food, with the waves crashing right in front of you.
We called requests in to the front desk from our room and were soon greeted in person by Justin, who was professional and personable and quick to show up to help.
Alicia and the other ladies were a joy at check in and check out . I would recommend the 7th floor for spectacular views and no noise overhead in the tower but even in the middle of the 5th floor, it was comfortable, clean, relaxing and the pillows were like clouds on the beds. It’s a no-brainer to return here again soon.

Stayed here 4 nights, August 14-18, 2020. We stayed in the oceanfront “tower” (7 stories) which actually does have gorgeous views. The price for the room was very reasonable; however, we had to pay a Resort Fee of $57.00 upon checking in. I’m still not really sure what it was for. Due to COVID 19, there is currently no breakfast which is supposed to be included, and there is no maid service whatsoever. When we checked into our room, there was a roll of toilet paper sitting on the bathroom counter (the tissue holder was broken) and it had already been 2/3 used. No other toilet paper to be found. Had to get that from the Front Desk, and they have us ONE roll. Surprisingly, the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom looked like it had been upgraded recently, but almost no water pressure in the shower. Because there was no maid service, by the end of our stay there were dirty towels all over the bathroom floor, and the trash cans were full. Front desk staff were all very friendly.

Dear Leslieb574, Thank you so much for taking a moment to share your feedback with us regarding your recent stay. We would like to take this opportunity to offer our sincerest apologies that your time with us was anything but completely exceptional. We would like to help answer your question on the charge for $57 as a portion of this is a local tax and the remainder is a fee charged by the hotel. With this being said, we are happy to announce that we are bringing back our coffee services in the morning along with contactless service to the rooms for in-room amenities. We have also shared your feedback regarding the bathroom supplies with our team and are using this as a training opportunity with our staff. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We do hope that you had enjoyed your time with us aside from these matters and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you as our guest again and replace this past experience with a truly positive one. If we are afforded this opportunity, please reach out to us here at the hotel directly and the staff and I will be more than happy to assist in arranging this. Thank you again for making us a part of your travels as well as for all of your feedback as this will only help us to improve. We hope you have a safe and happy summer and look forward to hosting you again very soon. Warm regards, Chris Styles General Manager

This place is not a standard hotel but seems to be one where condominium owners rent out their apartments when they are not using them. My wife took the precaution of calling ahead and asking the reservation person for a room she herself would use. Even so, the room was looking a bit tired with rust on the lamps and chairs from the salt air. The location is terrific, right on the beach, and the beach in early April was clean and sparsely populated. A great place to walk. The expensive restaurant was fully booked for the night when we called and the slightly less expensive cafe food was OK (don't order the Landshark beer if you like beer to taste of something). The server was friendly. The breakfast served in the lobby was worse than the one we had at a Comfort Inn this morning. No hot food except a Jimmy Dean heart attack microwave biscuit, no cream cheese for the bagels, and they had cordoned off most of the seats in the cafe. The elevator sometimes didn't come when called. When we inquired about restaurants at the front desk, the woman could barely be bothered to answer. My overall impression of this place is that it's in a beachfront community that thinks it's doing you a favor in letting you stay there. They need to step up their game.

We are so very sorry that you had this experience at our Inn. You are correct that all rooms are individually owned and rented. The restaurant is not affiliated with the Inn, simply renting the commercial space. They opted not to serve breakfast and during our stay we were in the transition process for this offering. Our breakfast is still limited but relocated to our conference area for guest convenience. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to provide a better experience should your travels bring you to our area again.

I live locally and have enjoyed the on-site restaurant so I opted to try the hotel for a girls night getaway. All staff we encountered were extremely pleasant & helpful and the location & views were wonderful. However, the overall cleanliness of the room (tower building), hallways, stairwells, elevator, etc was horrible. Mold, grime and various states of disrepair were noted in several areas. On the plus side, we could tell that the room was sanitized in advance and hotel & restaurant employees were continually sanitizing tables, etc. If the staff, location & sanitizing weren't as good as they were, I would've done an overall rating of 1, at best.

We recently stayed here for 1 night during the Night of A Thousand Candles Christmas display. The view from the inn was beautiful. It looks like it would be a wonderful place to stay during the summer, as it is right on the beach, with a pool and bar/restaurant steps from the beach as well. The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. The inn itself is older, but our room appeared to have been recently renovated. The room decor was very nice. Our biggest complaint is that the sound-proofing between floors/rooms was POOR. We were on the first floor, and someone came into the room above us at 2AM. They walked around the room for 20 minutes before settling in for the night, and it sounded like a horse walking around in high heels the entire time. It woke us up from a deep sleep, and then we were wide awake for hours after that. The same thing happened around 8AM when the person apparently got up. I cannot imagine what the sound would be like during prime season when more people are staying there. If you stay here, either request a top floor room, or bring solid ear plugs.

We stayed at the Litchfield Inn this year because our experience from staying there last year was very favorable, but what a difference a year makes. Save you money folks. This place is in need of a total overhaul and needs to be cleaned up. We stayed in the tower(room#328) and here are some photos of what we encountered, mold on the lamp shades, mold on the air vent and dirt and mold on the air conditioner vent as well as mold on the tub. We asked for towels and were told to put the dirty towels outside the door and they would be replaced, needless to say they were not replaced and we had to call the front deck(8hours) later to have them replaced. Our room was NOT clean everyday and after paying almost $800 for a 5 night stay one would expect their room to be cleaned. The breakfast was a “Grab & Go” in the lobby, but why is it possible to have the dinning room open for lunch and dinner, but not for breakfast and the upstairs dinning room was also open for dinners. This place is a disaster and needs a total makeover and upgrade.

This property stands out because its the only apparent "hotel" on the beach in this location. Overall the property needs updating. The rooms are adequate but are dated, and everything is old and seems to have been fixed up rather badly. But its on the beach, has 2 pools along with a poolside cafe/Cabana/Bar that is very pleasant and functions all day. The operator of the cafe also has a restaurant there. The hotel staff are all really nice, and offer good service to guests.

As others have noted, the parking is split between a limited number of spots between the buildings and then a large overflow parking lot across the road. Its all supposedly limited to hotel guests and we were given a tag to display, but most of those cars occupying spots closest did not have tags.

This is a great beach, which is very clean and "safe" and does not appear to become over crowded like many of the beaches further north along the coast where we visited.

Lots of local places for food and usual beach trade area all very close. You have to search for good food that is not all fried. but its there at places like Franks, Bistro 217 etc.

I understand that some rooms may be privately owned, and assume others are hotel owned. We had a tower room which was adequate for our needs. The tower elevator is rather "rickety" but the safety inspection sticker was current. Our AC was fierce but noisy. Shower water pressure was sadly very low.

Overall a great vacation spot. Rather pricey "in season".

Hope this review helps y'alls

The staff and I are happy to see that overall, you had enjoyed your time with us. We would also like to thank you for the additional feedback you have provide as this will only help us to improve upon the experience we provide. We do apologize for any challenges that you may have experience with parking and while we do share the parking for guests that only come to dine at the restaurants, hence the reason for some cars not having hotel parking passes, we will continue to work to provide convenient parking for guests of the inn. The rooms have Internet, nice TVs, bathrooms, in the room we’ve stayed in were updated. Plent of room. Our favorite is the dune fron with screened in porch….felt like a cottage, not a motel. Food there is really good, there are fine restaurants around, but the upstairs restaurant there is a favorite of locals…
