I have been coming to Big Stone for 30 years. I have stayed w/ Jim and Donna around 13 of those years (2 this year). This was my first trip for my 10 year old son and it was an excellent one! The rooms have all been redone and the showers are great now! They put a lot of money into each of the rooms and they look fantastic. Not a place I would take my significant other because the bugs would swallow her whole but a wonderful fishing lodge. Caught a ton of fish and look forward to spring when I will return once again. Thanks Jim and Donna for making the memories fantastic. Scott - Omaha

We will never go back to Schmidts again. Owners are very rude and overbearing. Unblieveable! Family members came to visit for about an hour, owners wouldnt let them stay even though we offered to pay $10 per person fee. What a sham. Bigstone lake is the only thing they have going for them.

We just returned from a week long stay with our children and Grandchildren. We rented 3 suites and had a total of 9 people in our party. Schmidts Landing is a fabulous place for a family vacation. We were having so much fun we stayed 2 extra days longer than we had originally booked. The units are clean and updated, the ground are very well maintained and Jim and Donna go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need and are enjoying your stay. We caught more than enough fish, enjoyed the lake and water recreation, and toured the area. The grandkids used the kayaks and the swimming beach was right in front of our unit so we could keep an eye on them. Continental breakfast (complimentary) with hot waffles for the kids and Jim cooks up hamburgers and hot dogs on

I just got back from Schmidt's Landing today with my family of 5 children and will never go there again. They do not have cabins. They are glorified fishing shacks all attached to each other. Really, they are thin walled units of an old hotel that was transplanted there. The air conditioner didn't work well, the furniture was old and moldy smelling. The bathroom was a joke. It was barely big enough for one person to stand upright in. Moldy shower and and no towels or soap to speak of. If you are looking for a rough place to fish, you may like the place. But for my family vacation stop, this is not the place for you. Everything was overpriced. The room charge was the worst. I do not recommend you go to Schmidt's landing if you are looking for a comfortable room to

We're from Roy, Utah and the last couple of years have come to South Dakota to take Mom on South Dakota fishing trips. This was our first trip to Schmidt's Landing on Big Stone Lake and WOW is we'll say. Outstanding resort and wonderful facilities from the cabin amenities, to the well maintained resort grounds, C-Store had whatever you desired (continental breakfast making your own waffles, great pizza, variety of food, bait, lures, cold drinks, ice-cream etc etc). We were also very pleased with the quietness of this resort throughout the day and at night. The boat we rented had all the needs for a serious angler. Jim and Donna provided us very helpful fishing pointers and locations to fish on Big Stone. We caught Walleye, White Bass, Perch and even a Blue Gill all on
