My husband and I stayed at Rafter J for 8 days on part of our honeymoon camping trip. We decided on this campground because it was centrally located to all the attractions. It is a very large campsite but maintained very well! We absolutely loved our stay here. We stayed in the lower ranch, 3rd from the end. We did...

Centrally located to everywhere we were going – Mt. Rushmore, Needles Highway, Custer State Park, and Jewel Cave. Campground was large. Facilities included “camping” store that sold Black Hills jewelry, multiple onsite laundry facilities and pancake breakfast. During the summer, our campground site with hookups (water and electricity -- 30 amp) was $55.95 per night. It was expensive, but convenient.

we were here mid July in a 17' trailer. Stayed in Ranch Camp. It was quiet, sites a good space apart and the camp host was present. The bathrooms/showers need desperately to be updated. Showers are cramped, toilet floors wet and you will run out of hot water. Very close to Mt Rushmore and Hill City. Staff is friendly. Wi-fi...

We stayed at Rafter J toward the end of the season (last week of September) at one of their RV sites in the island. It was incredibly quiet, private, spacious, and relaxing. The entire campground is set up very well, giving campers the very reason they came: rest and relaxation. There are large grass fields throughout the grounds to separate...

We planned our trip for the end of the season (mid-Sept), so we knew not everything in the black hills/badlands would be open when we arrived. However, when we booked our reservation at Rafter J, the lady on the phone assured me that the hot tub would still be open through our stay there (website says open through the 3rd...

What a lovely place to says with our RV. Great spacious site with a great view. Very easy to pull our RV in. I was even able to take my dog hiking nearby. Very nice staff, they let us check in very early because a site was available. Very convenient to Mt. Rushmore and all of the parks.

We are actually here as I write this. I was skeptical when a friend told me she was here 20 years ago, but they obviously work very hard constantly updating and keeping this place gorgeous. Pool, laundry and bathrooms look new, clean and modern, and they were currently working on the rec room during our stay. Sites are large and...

We spent the last week of July from Tuesday to Friday and we have no regrets. First of all, this place is big and safe to allow your kids bike around. 2nd, the cabins are not too close to each other so you got plenty of space. 3rd, the cabin we rented had table and a fridge. The cabin inside...

This was our first time visiting the Black Hills. We pulled our camp trailer from Colorado. This was a beautiful RV park. Very nice staff. All campers were courteous and quite. Our camp spot had a lot of space but near the Highway. Next time I will ask for a spot further from the road. I would recommend this RV...
