This is a great economical little motel. We stay here for hunting trips. I've been here 7 times and my rooms are always very clean and the beds are comfortable. Locally owned and operated with very pleasant staff... Give the local place a chance!
Clean and nice place with both a microwave and mini fridge in rooms. Was surprised that there are no phones in the rooms and the office closes after 11pm. Price is very reasonable and the staff is super friendly! Been there before and will return again.
We stayed here while working at a local church. I was really hesitant to stay here because I imagined a "Bates Motel" experience. When I walked in the room, I was pleasantly surprised. It was clean and much better than I thought it would be. The room didn't have that "old" feeling, didn't smell, and the bed gave me a good night's sleep. Shower worked just fine; plenty of hot water. You get an old fashioned key--not a key card. What you must do after you unlock the door is manually turn the knob from the inside to lock the door. Otherwise when leaving the room, it could potentially remain unlocked. I would stay here again if I ever return to Sisseton.
Staff friendly and accommodating. Room rate reasonable. Room unclean, floor had white bodily fluids at bedside carpet wasn't vacuumed bed pillows and sheets were not changed from previous customer who stayed in room. Vertical blinds missing panels so anyone walking by window could look in on you laying in bed. It also allowed sunlight directly into your eyes when laying facing window. Smelled of stale cigarette smoke and trash can outside door overflowing; had to battle flies in room. Checked out early couldn't take the smell and flies landing on me.
We were attending a festival at nearby Ft. Sisseton the next day and really looking forward to this stay. Booked a "triple room" with 3 Queen beds (at $100 it was cheaper than 2 rooms & perfect for our family). When I made the reservation I told them we'd be arriving late, and they said if it would be after 11pm we needed to call to make special arrangements as the office closes at 11pm. What a surprise when we arrived at ~10:36 pm to find the office already closed; phone just went to answering machine. Another couple with a reservation arrived just after we did - don't know where they ended up. The Super8 across the street was full, but fortunately the little Holiday Motel next to the gas station had rooms -- no other hotels in Sisseton. We left messages, but never heard anything back from the owners.…
