Rim Rock Lodge is an adult-only (21+) seasonal resort located in the heart of Spearfish Canyon in the Northern Black Hills, SD. It is the perfect base camp for the active vacationer - hiking, climbing, biking, fishing, site-seeing and, at the end of the day, relaxing in the serenity of Spearfish Canyon. Our cabins are historic on the outside, but new on the inside. Two of our three luxury suites have full kitchens, satellite TVs and washers/dryers. Our third suite has a satellite TV, small refrigerator and microwave. All suites have large decks with beautiful views of the Spearfish Canyon. Our 1919 historic lodge boasts two large decks as well as an indoor lobby where meetings and special events can be held. WiFi is available in the suites and on the decks at the Lodge. Our gift shop, gallery and Canyon Bistro - serving prepared foods/lite bites and beverages, including beer and wine - are open Friday through Sunday 3:00pm-6:30pm.
Our cabin was immaculately clean and comfortable.. The owner/hosts are convivial and a fount of knowledge on the area. The setting both scenic and convenient to Spear Fish. We will definitely stay here again whenever we return to the Black Hills area.

Wonderful stay in the Birch Cabin. Easy check-in/out process. Friendly and helpful hosts made stay a breeze. Accommodations were clean and comfortable and had all the necessary amenities. Bonus back porch was a wonderful little oasis to pause and enjoy the scenery. Make sure to check out the Art Walk and stroll up the hill to even more fabulous vistas of the canyon.

From the moment we arrived, we were in love with the place! Geoff and Lori were such gracious and attentive hosts. They greeted us, told us a bit about the history of the property, showed us to our suite (the Margaret Bridge), and asked if we needed assistance with luggage or if we might like to sit on the deck with some wine or a beer. Throughout our stay, we saw them frequently and they were very attentive, even coming out to check on us upon arrival after some bad weather in the area one evening. They had great suggestions about what to see in the canyon and shared about the wildlife in the area. It was just the perfect getaway for my husband and I. I really hope to make it a regular trip. There is so much to see and do, but I could also just spend all my time on the fantastic deck watching the world go by. Thank you Geoff and Lori for making our 25th anniversary trip special by sharing your corner of the world with us.…

We thoroughly enjoyed our Northern Hills getaway to the Rim Rock Lodge on a few occasions. You don't get cell service here which is really nice;). However, you really only have to drive a few miles to Spearfish to check in. While you are there, check out Antunez!

This was our first stop of our 2,981 mile trip on our Harley Davidson and our route was from Rapid City via South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah and ended in Denver Colorado. Last year we saw these cabins nestled in the canyon and decided we would look it up for this year and try and book. Luckily we managed to secure a booking and what a wonderful stay it turned out to be. The host were incredibly friendly and our welcome was the best we received. The cabin, the Ponderosa was nestled in the woods and exquisitely furnished and spacious. The cabin was absolutely spotless and at night you could hear the stream ....The stars were so bright you could see millions and so colorful was the galaxy. The views from the top over the canyon were spectacular. The breakfast in the mornings were scrumptious and simply great coffee as well. Each morning we sat under the trees for breakfast listing to the stream rush by and the birds tweeting all around us. So peaceful and tranquil and just a wonderful place to stay. We wished we could have stayed there longer. Thank you to our wonderful hosts for such a great stay…

We stayed here on July 4th in the Tatanka Suite. It was the first reservation that the owners took using Tripadvisor and we arrived at 10pm in a driving rain storm, so there was a little problem finding the checkin area. Jeff and Lori were sincerely apologetic and got us all set up. Because of the confusion, in the morning, they gave us a goody bag of snacks and wine which again was a sincere gesture. The Rim Rock Lodge is surrounded by canyon walls with a creek running through it. It is so beautiful. The lodge offers suites at the base level and cabins a little higher up in the canyon. We stayed in a suite which was upscale, very neat, and rustic. It includes a large bedroom, a kitchenette, and a nice bathroom. Also, there is a large deck with seating for at least 4, a bbq grill, and a fantastic view of the canyon. I walked up to the cabins and they had amazing views of the canyon. In the morning, breakfast is set out in the main cabin. There was fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels, pastries, coffee, tea, juice etc. Everything to get you you nourished for the morning. The hosts gave us a history of the place which was fascinating. They also provided us with sites to see and directions. The lodge also has a little store or canteen with everything you would need to make dinner as well as souvenirs from local artisans. We were thoroughly impressed with the accommodations and more with the hospitality and genuineness of the owners. I hope I have the chance to travel to the Black Hills. We know where we will stay.…

We stayed in the Tatanka suite with a great large deck and wonderful view of Spearfish Canyon. The room is spacious and very clean. The bed is comfortable and even in the summer we only used the air condition twice to cool off the room. Geoff and Lori were awesome! They provided a great continental breakfast during the week then on the weekend cooked a wonderful, tasty breakfast. There was a grill to use but we didn't cook, but all dishes and utensils are available. If you want beer, wine, snacks or ice cream it's all there too. We walked up the artist path to the over look to see the stars, what a view! This was a wonderful vacation and we would definitely stay at Rim Rock again.

It was such a beautiful place to stay. The owners were very nice. They had a lot of different types/kinds of wine for guests to try for a small fee. Their little shop was good too. Sitting out of the deck and listening to the water rush down the stream was very relaxing. Very close to Bridal Veil falls. My husband and I stayed in the Tatanka Suite beautiful views from the deck. The rooms and accommodations were just amazing! Rim Rock Lodge will not disappoint you at all!

A wonderful time was had. Our trip was a quick one, up from Hot Springs, for just one night. The photos can’t capture the feeling, scents or calm energy of this gem located in Spearfish Canyon. Our hosts, Geoff and Lorie also own this heirloom, were friendly, gracious and warm. The lack of cell service, no tv or radio was a huge plus for us and we were able to unplug for a time. The views, and sounds, closeness to hiking trails and literally a picture around every corner will definitely have one connecting with nature. We’ll be back. Soon.
