Attended a motorcycle rally hosted by Buffalo Chip for 3 nights. Discount rate for electric/water only for a 5th wheel was $69 a night! Big grass field spots that are mostly level, but no sewer hookups. For the price they should at least have sewer. Water pressure on the lower side but doable. Cell service is excellent and nice to have this far out of Sturgis town center. Will not return to this campground as there are better and more affordable campgrounds nearby.

Buffalo Chip Camground is huge to say the least. Entire staff works around the clock to keep this place going. Very good security and supplies. Food options were good for everyone. Wish wine was sold more. Shows were great! Stage area is set up with easy access in and out and plenty of restrooms. It is what it is here. This is a party campground. It was loud mostly all night. Folks were there to party. Weather can’t be controlled either. Staff did there best! Paid extra for the private shower house and that was worth every penny! The big shout out goes to Camp Easy Ride!! OUTSTANDING!! These folks travel to other bike functions. Look them up. They know how to provide service and are great people to have fun with too! They prepare your site fully for your arrival. Pull in and drop your bag. All else is done and ready. We had private fire pits and restrooms. We had a gathering space for coffee and unlimited water and a pool! Marcus, Karen and Cliff are great!! They made our time there easy and fun.

Three years in a row and wouldn't recommend any other place. Great concerts, Great Bars, Friendly Staff, and great atmosphere. If you're not having fun at the chip then take your sorry grumpy self somewhere else.

The Chip is exciting a bit rundown and the bathroom by the campgrounds was horrible. However, great exciting place to stay. I would do it again. The concerts were great. The food vendors were really good. It’s a city within itself. I would just encourage them to perhaps redo the bathrooms and make sure when you’re in the bathroom you have someplace to put your stuff.

What can I say about this lovely camp, but what a great experience. Marcus, Karen and Cliff were awesome hosts, from the minute we arrived, till the time we left. I’ve been telling people to save, so they can join in the fun next year. Marcus was always answering texts very speedily, sorry Marcus, I know I was a pain the first hour, texting you with so many questions.

The camp was clean, the tents were convenient and efficient, and I liked the common area with fireplaces to hang out with fellow riders, also to get your morning java and charge your phones through the day. Also the light path to the tent was a great idea, especially if you need to go to the special, clean and locked toilets just for our guests, in the middle of the night.

The location of camp was close enough to hear the amazing bands play, that’s to say, if you didn’t feel like venturing out over the bridge to see them in person, it’s also located right opposite bikini beach where you will find some eye candy for the gals and guys, but more for the guys lol. Food vendors were good and plentiful too.

After a long ride. Who feels like pitching a tent, this was all ready at Camp Easy. Literally arrive, sleep, party and repeat.

The daily emails up to the event from Marcus was very informative as well. Marcus, and crew you have a good thing going over here.

This was my third time camping at the Chip. I made my reservation in August of 2020 for two RV spots (34 & 35) in North Crazy Horse. I was part of a group which purchased a total of 10 spots side by side, sites 32-38 and 42 & 43. I paid $650.00 for each of my spots, where the remainder of my group paid $550.00. When I asked Shirley back in August 2020 why I paid more, she said she made a mistake and did not charge the other 8 sites the correct amount. I asked her if she would credit me the $200.00 over charge towards a golf cart rental. Shirley said no there was no refunds! I did talk to the other campers around us and none of them paid $650.00 for their spots even though, according to Shirley, this was the going rate for those spots.

Once we arrived, we found ourselves in the middle of a dust bowl! It was so dusty that at times the view of Bear Butte was obscured by dust in the air! The water truck occasionally came by and wetted down the main road, but did nothing to control the dust on the side road leading down to Alkali road camp. You would think with all the traffic that passes up and down the roads that the Chip would pave the main roads, but no they are full of pot holes!

I thought the Chip would pull out all the stops for the 40th anniversary party and have top name concerts, save for Kid Rock, ZZ Top and Shinedown the remainder of the concerts were disappointing to say the least. This disappointment was evident by the lack of crowds which stayed for the whole show. Even the bands at Bikini Beach and Big Engine left a lot to be desired.

After two successful stays at the Chip in 2013 and 2017, 2021 left so much to be desired. I felt they put more effort into fleecing the bikers then putting on a great time! Needless to say, with so many other choices of campgrounds in the area, I will not be back to a place more concerned with making a buck then providing a great experience!

Been there before has always been a bad experience too expensive dirty dirty in every aspect the park the bathroom the only people that enjoy it or the ones that are drugged and drunk and don't know that they're being screwed. Worst place to camp worst place to bring family a bad scene for bikers. Would not recommend to any human species.

First off to Johnathan P, what camp ground were you at? I have never seen so many true Americans and Trump supporters in one place out side of a MAGA rally!
The chip is 100% American! The best top name bands, best venders, every type of food available from melt in your mouth steaks to very vender food available! Full bars, cold beer! Camping goes on for ever , from Bikini Beach to the Big Motor Bar. An over the top veterans memorial with more American flags representing all branches of the Armed Forces! Plenary of parking, huge stage for entertainment. The The Chip is the real deal! Gift shop is huge, M/C racing on the grounds, water features!! Industry show, to much to mention, if you havnt made it to the Chip.......oh well your loss, Don’t miss it!!!!!

First they sell you a product that is not available, then they refuse to refund you for what they CANNOT provide. Never been treated so callously by a business, only give 1 star because there is no ZERO available. Plenty of nice places to go for Sturgis Rally, this is not one of them.

This review is not about the campground rather the check-in process. We arrived in town and were staying at another campground. Knowing that the check-in on Saturday would be busy I attempted to check in early. Not enter the camp ground, just get the wristbands. In the past I have been able to pick up the individual day wristbands ahead of time. This time we had bought the extended rally wristbands and apparently, they have only one wristband so I wasn’t able to get them ahead of time. That is without paying for two additional days which I neither needed or wanted. I went back early on Saturday morning and as expected I ended up in line, again. And, not only did I have to wait in line, again, when I finally got up to the window, the person excused herself and said she would be right back. I have to say I am disappointed. I would have thought there would be an individual wristband for the defined periods, I was wrong.

Response from Cody Ertman, Marketing at Buffalo Chip Campground
Responded Oct 20, 2020
Hello, thank you for sharing your comments. The reason you weren’t able to pick up your wristband early is the same reason you can’t check into a hotel and get a key to your room on the day before your reservations--having it would have allowed you entry prior to the days you purchased. If you want to come early, then you are welcome to purchase a pass for those early days, or you can just check in for your reservation on the day of your reservation. We hope you can understand and will come back and see us again.

So sorry for the delay! As you may have surmised we get pretty busy right before and during the event. Please call the box office at 605-347-9000 and they will be happy to answer all of your questions and help you with your reservations. Now if the time to make those reservations as the prices will never be lower!
Answer from SturgisBuffaloChip

RV and camper spots are reserved and most do offer electric and water. If you want to bring a tent you can set it up anywhere you like within the tenting areas.

the answers below are all correct! It just depends upon where you end up pitching your tent. There are many options. Some allow for parking and some do not. So you have a choice!
