We stayed here for three nights to celebrate a special birthday, and we heartily recommend it. We were in a superior room as it was a special occasion, and this was very comfortable, with an excellent bathroom and glorious views from our sitting area. The highlight was the food - every course at dinner was delicious and the staff were...

We stayed for three nights and found the location, the accommodation and the food to be up to a very good standard. The staff are courteous and attentive and at no time did we want for service or politeness. A very nice experience and a cracking four star hotel that deserves its rating.

Walking the Cumbrian Way we passed the Borrowdale Gates Hotel at exactly 11.00 am. Naturally our thoughts turned to coffee. As we entered it was clear that this place was satisfyingly upmarket. Newly refurbished with the most spectacular views from the extensive lounge, we realised we had stumbled across something special. Freshly brewed coffee with homemade cookies completed our delightful...

This is a delightful hotel quiet and relaxing. On arrival the staff are most friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent with only a small complaint due to the lack of vegetables. When I mentioned this on settleing the bill the manager said if I had asked I would have been given a choice, but how do you know what you are...

This was our third visit and it certainly will not be our last. The staff are brilliant - professional and efficient yet friendly. The food is superb and never wavers in quality. You could not wish for a more delightful setting. Rooms are smart yet comfortable with all the facilities you are likely to require during your stay.

We wanted to try somewhere new and my Partner picked this hotel. Location was ideal as it was pretty and we could walk from the front door. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, service was great and the food was amazing. We didn't want to have to drive so we opted to eat in the hotel during our stay. Our...

We have been holidaying in this area for many years, but had never been to this hotel before. We went for dinner. The setting is gorgeous with good views from the bar and restaurant. The service was good and the food excellent. Many thanks to Chris and his team. We shall return.

24 of us celebrated an event and we were each given the normal Sunday Lunch choices so the service had to be spot on. And it was. The food is of a particularly high standard and the service was too. It isn't the cheapest Sunday Lunch in the world but it represents very good value nevertheless. There is a good...

We recently stayed here and had a lovely few days. On arrival, reception staff were friendly, efficient and helpful, as were all members of staff in the hotel. The bedroom was clean and nicely decorated with beautiful views of the surrounding area. The bathroom was again clean, sparkling and modern. We enjoyed the superb food in an idyllic dining room,...
