The cabin we stayed had recently been renovated keeping with theme of when it was originally built. The kitchen even glad a dishwasher. Not a lot of cabinet or countertop space. Was well appointed with plenty of pits & pans & dishes. Very small dining table but was adequate for our needs. Huge screen TV with excellent reception. The living room has the master king size bed. Also are 2 side chairs and a stick and rattan sofa that is not comfortable. I think it was made more a lodge entrance or some place you would not sit for very long. The furniture was pretty. There was 1 small bedroom with a twin size bed and a much more comfortable chair with a foot stool. The bathroom was adequate. It was newly done & I am sure they had to deal with space. The shower would be very tight for a tall or heavy person. For us it was fine. They need to put up pegs or something to hang towels. There was a gorgeous fireplace but at this it was not working. This would be a lovely place for a couple and possibly 1 child. The decor was unique. There was a porch with a small table & 2 ladder back chairs. It would have been nice to have a rocker or 2 on the porch. They have a few things to fix as our bathroom door would not lock and we could not get it to fully close so we had a bungee cord and Jerry rigged that to towel bar and door handle. We did advise staff of problem. We did enjoy our stay and I am a couple would so enjoy this cute cabin. There are numerous other cabin types available here. This area in park was clean & very well upkept. Dogs are allowed in some cabins so be aware you may hear a bit of barking.

We were traveling and arrived after hours with no reservation. An on-duty ranger met us at the check-in, took our reservation and gave us a key- said we could officially check in in the morning. He warned us that the cabins were "rustic". "Basic" would be a better word, and in need of a little renovation. Several screens were bent, allowing gaps for bugs and some of the window cranks were not functional. That being said, we enjoyed our stay here. It was clean and the bed was comfortable..... and oh, so quiet! We slept very well.
We ate dinner at the restaurant there and we thought the food was average, but buffets are not our first choice for dinner.
Again, everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful and that makes all the difference in the world to make us want to come back again.

I recently stayed in one of the AAA deluxe cabins at the Cumberland Mountain State Park. Our experience here was not horrible, nor was it anything to write home about. Pros: Quiet, lovely wooded views, wood burning fireplace with plenty of wood provided, nice linens, full and well stocked kitchen, adequately comfortable beds. Cons: Surface wise the place was clean (vacuumed, dusted, wiped down, clean bedding). However, I did notice a cobweb it a corner or two. While the couch was newer and clean, the chairs were in need of a good cleaning and perhaps reupholster. I also noticed the water stains on the walls. This is a great place to stay if you are going for a rustic experience. Our trip was a family get together. This place allowed us an affordable place to stay without all the extra work of camping.

Review: Disappointing Stay at Pet-Friendly Duplex Cabin in Cumberland Mountain State Park.

Our stay at the state park’s pet-friendly duplex cabin was a huge disappointment. We had planned to stay four nights, but the experience fell far short of expectations.

We arrived late, after midnight, only to discover the heat didn’t work. The electrical breaker box was loose and made a loud humming noise, and the light switches were so faulty we had to bang on the wall to get them to work.

The next morning, we reported the issues to the office and were moved to a second cabin, but it was no better. This cabin was also dirty, and the hot water heater didn’t work, leaving us with ice-cold showers. Frustrated, we decided to check out early.

It’s clear the cabins are in serious need of repairs and cleaning. The lack of attention to basic maintenance and cleanliness suggests the park staff is disinterested in ensuring a comfortable experience for guests.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here until these issues are resolved.

When we went into the cabin, it smelled very musty. The rooms were very dark (dark pine floors, walls and ceilings) causing problems for my wife who has wet macular degeneration. When we sat down on the sofa, it felt very damp - we used an extra blanket on it to sit on. The double hung window in which the air conditioner was in was not sealed and the only thing that could keep the bugs out was a multitude of spider webs. The vinyl floor in the bathroom was torn and the baseboard looked as if it hadn't been dusted in a month or two. The door lock was worn out and you had to fiddle with it and turn the outside handle to a certain position in order to lock it - no dead bolt. The TV reception was terrible - especially at night - and the remote didn't work. There were better cabins (higher priced) but the Class AA cabin that we stayed in definitely needed some work. We were at the park for an anniversary party at the restaurant and felt that the facilities, food, and service there were excellent.

If you're into history, this is the place to stay. Now it is a cabin and you are in the woods. If that's what you're looking for this is the place to be. My one room cabin had a bed, sleep sofa, kitchenette, wonderful shower with strong, hot water. It's near the lake and walking distance to a decent restaurant. I walked out the door to my hike.

Mark, the Park Ranger, gave me great suggestions for a 6 mile hike which included a beautiful waterfall through a bridge along with a swinging bridge. A 20 minute drive took me to Ozone 100' Falls State Natural Area.

So glad I spent 2 nights here.

Tip 1: Bring an extension cord in case there is not an outlet close to the bed.
Tip 2: Bring a single sheet to put over bedspread which has probably not been cleaned in a while.

I completely disagree with the person who wrote his/her review in 2007. We just came back from a 5 day family reunion with 100+ people and rented out ALL of the cabins. Each and every cabin was clean, well stocked with linens, dishes and dish detergent. The mattresses were a little soggy but the sofa beds were great. The bathrooms while a little outdated, supplied us with plenty of hot water and good plumbing. The deluxe cabins are obviously the best. The duplexes are the second best and so on. I stayed in a deluxe cabin. The cable was good and we watched the Olympics. There was no wireless internet but the library and some small restaurants have it. There is no phone line but cell phones worked. The pool is enormous and has 2 diving boards (high and low dive). There were activities for the kids: slime making, macreme, paddle boat races etc. The bbq grills were abundant and there was recycling for cans. I wouldn't swim in the lake as there are water snakes. The price was super cheap and the trip was great. The trails are good and there are several volleyball nets. I'll attach photos in the next week or so.

My family has been coming here every 2 years since 1981, trust me if it was as bad as some are saying we wouldn't keep coming back. Yes there are upgrades that need to happen, yes the park is working on it. Every time we have had any issue it has been handled promptly and professionally. If you don't like rustic, outdoorsy places this isn't for you. OMG there was a spider? You don't say, you're in the middle of the woods. The park staff from the Rangers to the pool have all been fantastic. We have always had clean linens, the cabins have been clean on our arrival, they pick up trash daily from behind the cabins. We will be back in 2 years, this last reunion we had over 65 family members stay at the park.

Love this little state park. We have stayed here twice and is a smaller state park but not short on peace and tranquility.
The cabin we have stayed in are quaint a feeling of what it may have been like in years gone by. Not a lot of frills but that is not what I expected. We have seen deer both stays lots of geese also.
We tried fishing but didn't have any luck but you know what they say "A bad day if fishing is better then a good day at the office" The restaurant on the grounds was buffet style, very good reasonably prices with a beautiful view. Both of our check-ins were after business hours, we were able to locate our "Key" yes key not credit card looking thing an actual key and only 1. We did observe the women in the office are not very friendly at all but no worry we had a great visit despite their sour apple attitudes. The campground is very close to Crossville where you can stock up on supplies or grab a bite to eat.

My family and I stayed here for 5 days in July and absolutely loved it. It was so relaxing and cool. The sites are nice and paved. A little narrow but enough for our camper and some chairs. The campground was crowded over the weekend but it was very quiet. The host was nice and there was plenty to do. My kids enjoyed the olympic sized swimming pool and pedal boats.

I would say call them. Maybe the system isn't working correctly on their end and says everything is unavailable when in reality it isn't.

We had a deluxe cabin (sleeps 8), not sure if they are all the same. But with tat being said, the inside grill/stove was electric and the outside grill was charcoal. There is no fire pit.

"The cabin that sleeps 16 is separated from all the other cabins. The smaller cabins are mixed into the regular campground, which would be good for putting kids in tents and older adults who need beds in the cabins."
