We travelled to the Island to Celebrate a friends 50th Birthday. Andrew and team did a great job of taking care of us. Some of the best session music I have ever heard in the bar each night and a celebratory dinner for 25 on the 2nd night in the dining room. Apart from the clean ensuite room with a...

I stayed at the Doonmore at the beginning of May and it did not disappoint. The rooms are basic, quiet and very clean with en suite facilities. The food was sublime, absolutely delicious. The Doonmore Team were just the right balance of friendly and professional (funny and talented)! And nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect for breathtaking...

If you want an isolated getaway with warm and friendly staff this is the place to book. Wonderful craggy walks, many small secluded beaches, tasty meals, and comfortable beds to slip into at the end of the night.

We visited this wonderful island during the early May spell of beautiful warm weather days during which the locals got burnt and we had some very sucpicuous looks as we walked the island in our silly English sun harts. We saw a corncrake and alltogher had a wonderful time. As for our hotel, where do I start. If I was...

A return visitor to the Doonmore Hotel, I stayed here with family for the Inishbofin Arts Festival on the weekend of May 1st. As always we were made to feel so at home by the Murray family and staff who really run a superb business with a personal touch. This is the best place to stay on Bofin without a...

Dear ross_finn, Thank you for your lovely review. It was great to have you back and this time bringing your dad for the Arts Festival weekend. It's hard to beat the Westquarter loop walk for beautiful rugged scenery. I hope your dad enjoyed it as much as I know you do and that he comes back again too. Thanks again...

Very cosy straight forward family led hotel. No upsmuck and excellent (french) chef. Bar is cosy and with live traditional music on Friday and Saturday night. Unfortunately no social dancing anywhere on the Island

Dear Thomas K, Thank you for reviewing our hotel. I have googled 'No upsmuck' to no avail so I'm not sure what it means, I only hope it's slang for something good! Strangely enough, there was social dancing just last weekend, although you're much more likely to hear a trad/folk session in the bar. Thank you again for your review....

Had a friend with me who's mum was born on nearby inoshark island.Although the weather was very dodgy the 2 brothers from the ferry company (seamus and Dermott) managed to get us there and back..fulfilling a lifelong dream for my mate. When we got back we were greeted with the best hospitality not only by the island folk but also the...

Dear frankmoylan, Thank you for taking the time to review your brief satay with us. I remember you because of the reference to your mate and his Inishark connections. It was great that the lads got you back to the island, a special treat for anyone to visit that lovely island, but especially for him to get back to his...

I haven't a lot to add to the positive reviews - just go there. We ate every night in the bar. The scallops, chowder, fish of the day, were yummy, the crab claws were a challenge - too much fighting with the shells. No mobile phone signal for the duration - we found a signal in the cemetery. WIFI only...

Dear Taistil, Thank you for your lovey review. I look forward to your return, by which time I hope to have mastered the cryptic crossword language! I know you loved the view from your room but the newer part of the hotel has more modern rooms with very powerful showers so when you are booking the next time, request a...

During my recent trip to Inisbofin I again stayed at Doonmore Hotel. It was the festival weekend and quite busy but that did not deter in any way from the enjoyment of the visit. Andrew and his staff were as usual on hand to make sure all needs were catered for from the time we set foot on the island...

Dear swall32, Thank you so much for your lovely review. I know it was your honeymoon and so we tried to make sure that you and your partner, Patricia, got to enjoy yourselves on this romantic island, I'm delighted that you both did. I hope you get back to us again, maybe for your anniversary next year. Kindest regards, Andrew

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Murrays' Doonmore Hotel, the most westerly island hotel in Ireland, was built in 1969 and has been owned and managed by the Murray family ever since. We pride ourselves on our hands on approach to customer service so you will be dealing with a member of the family at most stages of your stay. We care about what we do because it is not just a job, it is our life. Our friendly staff are superbly trained and they know that our raison d'etre is to ensure that every customer, from a child ordering a hot chocolate to a group of adults staying for a week, deserves only the best service possible. Our hotel and bar food is famous for its freshly caught seafood and its consistently high quality and value for money. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and warm. The atmosphere is welcoming, homely and relaxed. It is no accident that we have a large percentage of repeat business stretching back to the early days. The proof of the pudding is in the eating (and we bake all our own!) So come out and visit and experience Murrays' Doonmore Hotel for yourselves. Andrew Murray ... more   less
