Stayed Dec 2016 as a couple. We payed for a private room so naturally were disappointed that the private bathroom we payed extra for we couldn't even use. This was because the shower water was cold (freezing, really), and the toilet did not flush. Unfortunately, even the common toilets had problems flushing. This was really disappointing. A more minor setback...

Hiked the Wicklow Way in September. After hiking 19 miles we reach the Hostel in Glendalough. Paid the extra money for a private room. Other then our own space, wasn't worth the extra money. The beds were not comfortable but after 19 miles we slept anyways. The shower had a push and hold for the water, the water never got...

I stayed here for 2 nights with a group of 6 people in November, as a base to climb Lugnaquilla and the surrounding peaks. The hostel is quite big with a decent sized car park and kitchen/eating areas including a self-catering section which has everything you need and you can access the it 24hrs a day which was perfect for...

I suppose, the hostel has such a high rate for the location and views (in the middle of heritage center and the village). Well equipped kichen, nice staff but rooms are very poor. Only beds, 1 chair and one side drawer in quadruple room, linen didn't look fresh ,dirty walls and ensuite with stuck shower. But the room was warming up...

Impressive from online booking right through to farewll, Glendalough YH was a special place. Private room was clean and comfortable, multilingual staff welcoming and helpful. Wifi was rather patchy, but worked, breakfast was good value, facilities were clean and generous. Location was stunning. Even the weather was good. We'll be back for more, esp for all the walking routes that...

This is a large Youth Hostel in the heart of Glendalough (I would recommend the old military road if arriving from Dublin), has all the necessary amenities, got a single room for the four of us, option of breakfast, not really worth the five Euros, I reckon, but otherwise very practical and quite good value for money.

Nice place, as good as you may expect for a cheap youth hostel. Located near the Glendalough visitors centre, meaning that it can be reached by bus (St. Kevins Bus Services) and that you can go hiking immediately from the hostel. Ideal if you would like to visit Glendalough/Wicklow mountains. Very kind staff. Nice building, not modern but comfortable. Self...

The staff were helpful and considerate (our shower was being repaired and we were offered another shower room + complementary towel whilst this was happening). Our double room was spacious and clean, water hot and the communal areas relaxed. Location great if you want to do some walking/climbing. Would be good to have a slightly bigger kitchen.

The hostel is one of the few places to stay in the beautiful Glendalough and is the one you should choose when on a budget. The hostel is located by the entry on the trails, right next to the Monastic Village. It offers a breakfast in the price of room consisting of the typical toast, jam, cereal, tea & coffee....

We stayed here while walking the Wicklow Way. It is located close to the monastic site for easy sightseeing. The common room/sitting room has books and games. The self-catering kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Rooms were clean and comfortable. There are pubs near the monastic site, but the nearest shop is ~30 mins walk away.

Hi Cory, Thanks for staying with us and for the review. The shop is a bit of a stroll and we do let people know that on our website. Fair play to you for doing the Wicklow Way and I hope the rest of your journey was good.
