Visited the Rising Sun for lunch with a friend and our children. Whilst the pub food and general offering is pretty standard, I thought the service was excellent and we were made to feel extremely welcome. Nothing was too much trouble with regards the children, and the staff were very friendly. I would eat there again, because we were made...

The food is a pretty standard pub menu, although smaller than most you see. Despite a small menu with basic food the Rising Sun still seemed unable to serve it well. Most food came out cold, items were also badly described on the menu, and one pasta dish was uncooked in places. Service wasn't a redeeming factor either. Staff were...

Hi Rebecca, Thankyou for taking the time to put a review on TripAdvisor regarding our country pub. However we must say that we are completely shocked by your comments. Our menu has been built up through the feedback from our customers and is very well recieved as can be seen from other reviews. It is complemented by our chefs extensive...

First time we have travelled with dogs and we all had a lovely welcome by Gaynor at The Rising Sun. I had to visit someone in nearby hospital and on return to pub, found husband relaxed and reading on sofa near open fire, with our 2 dogs asleep next to him. Dinner was very good, hearty food and again, the...

Nice pub situated out in the Devon countryside. Close to Dartmoor for exploring . Had a good Sunday lunch. They worked very hard to cope with a large group of us (about 35!). Good roast beef and veg, a hearty Sunday lunch

We visited the Rising Sun for the first time today for an informal anniversary lunch. The choice was made after seeing their website, which is informative and easily navigable. Directions to the pub, very necessary, were also on the website and were precise and accurate. What a find! We chose the traditional Sunday beef roast which was delicious. Plenty of...

First time visiting, but we were instantly made to feel welcome. Staff were friendly, food was delicious and children were well catered for. Highly recommended, especially the fish and chips and the Jail Ale.

We popped in for food on their last night before closing for refurbishments so the food was limited (not by much though). We were welcomed by friendly staff and a nice spacious country pub, very quiet too. The food arrived quickly and hot. We had the pasta with broccoli and a burger. It was all very nice indeed, well cooked...

We arrived at The Rising Sun late afternoon on bank holiday Monday we enquired if food was still available. We were told that lunch had finished and dinner service wouldn't be for approximately an hour. Without hesitation though we were offered a selection to pick from the lunch menu or if we wanted they could do us a roast. We...
