It was only an overnight stay, but from my arrival up to my departure, they treated me as I was here for a week. Dinner was really good. Decent prices and a good selection. The room was very clean only issues was it came with a small TV and no access to wifi in the rooms. But the staff and...

We needed a place to recover from a second night of punishing rain at the nearby River Dart Country park on Tuesday 25th August. Our tent was still waterproof (just) - but the hotel sounded better! The manager welcomed us at reception. She was chatty, engaged with us and my two kids really well, and sounded genuinely interested. The family...

Stopped for lunch on a Tuesday. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the choice of food is good and our meals were of an excellent quality. Parking was plentiful. On the down side, although it wasn't busy, we waited for 35 mins for our meal. No one mentioned or apologised for this, so I suspect it might be the...

A flying visit on the way to Dawlish and I needed fuel. Mentioning to the local garage that I was hungry and could he recommend anywhere he pointed me to The Dartmoor Lodge just a short distance away. Problem was it was 2045 and they stopped serving at 2100. However it was not a problem, welcomed with open arms (and...

Stopped here overnight to break our journey to Cornwall and was pleasantly surprised. Rooms were clean and tidy and the restaurant very good. On the night we stayed there was a carvery on offer which isn't really our 'cup of tea' but there was a good choice of other meals and some specials plus a good choice of wines and...

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel which is on the edge of Dartmoor. The location is excellent for visiting the Moor and surrounding towns. It is also very popular for weddings and functions etc. We had a carvery Sunday meal where the service and food were excellent. The breakfast also was great. The one downside of this hotel is...

Came here for the second time on Sunday to meet up with family who live in the area and have lunch. It was busy as usual with locals, holiday makers etc and there was a birthday party. There was plenty of choice with a carvery, several other meals and a choice of sandwiches etc on offer, with vegetarian options as...

Went here for a special occasion, left a birthday cake at reception, had a really well cooked carvery with super potatoes and veg, not soft and water logged and with crispy roast potatoes, we all had a pudding really refreshing with local ice cream and clotted cream. And then at the right time came the birthday cake candles and all,...

Absolutely wonderful time, every member of staff extremely helpful, warm and friendly. Brilliant food, good rooms. I believe the owners have an ongoing mission to update and improve. So thank you to everyone for a wonderful, relaxing stay, from all the Whitford clan.

...and it filled a hole. Bar staff very polite. Clean. Customers conducting business a bit annoying. Also renovation work going on (did not mind this). Sandwich average. Bread a bit naff. Fillings okay.Would not make an effort to call in again if near.
