Lovely B and B in stunning surroundings. Very welcome tea and homemade cake after walk from Porlock. Our rooms were spacious, warm and comfortable, also spotlessly clean. Good breakfast ready for next day's walk. Didn't have a chance to linger in the gardens next to the river but enjoyed looking out and watching the birds.

I over heard SWMBO'd ask, "is it quiet?" The answer must have been the correct one as I discovered we had been booked for a week at Meadpool. Gillian, our hostess, very kindly booked us into the local Stag Hunters for the Saturday evening (more of that elsewhere). Travel across north Devon on a Saturday 'in the season' took longer... My husband and I had five lovely days on Exmoor. Meadpool House is exactly as other reviewers have said. We booked the luxury room and it was wonderful to wake every morning to see the river out of our window and Gillian's hens and cockerel in her big garden. There is plenty of variety for breakfast and our hosts made... More

We enjoyed five nights in the luxury room: spacious, wonderful views, with a large well appointed ensuite bath. Ian and Gillian were gracious hosts, provided a delicious breakfast and helpful information. Brendon is a lovely village. It is a short walk from Meadpool House to the Staghunter Inn (noted in the good pub guide) for a pint of Proper Job... More

We stayed in the luxury room and it really lived up to its name. Spacious and airy with windows on three sides and lovely views from each of them; huge and comfortable bed, settee, great bathroom. Gillian and Ian gave us a very warm welcome and were the perfect hosts throughout our stay, giving us tea in the garden and... More

I stayed here for a long weekend in a huge triple aspect room overlooking the garden and the River Lyn beyond ..I was treated as a houseguest from the start..not as a holidaymaker.
