Built by John "Jack" Russell (21 December 1795 – 28 April 1883), known as "The Sporting Parson", vicar of Swimbridge and rector of Black Torrington in North Devon, who developed the Jack Russell Terrier, a variety of the Fox Terrier breed. The Travellers Rest Old Church is packed with stunning ecclesiastical features - both magical and quirky - simply a...

A wonderful b&b with excellent hosts and a breakfast to die for. We had 2 nights here in the West Suite and the bed was so comfortable, the best nights sleep we have ever had in a b&b/ hotel. Derek and Sue are so knowledgeable and point you in the right direction for local pubs, restaurants and places to visit....

A little gem in north Devon. Sue & Derek Pope are perfect hosts and always aim to please. It is just what the doctor orders when wanting a quiet retreat, away from the hustle and bustle and enjoying the tranquillity of a traditional Devon countryside. The morning breakfast is the best and you can have it tailored to what you...

Sue and Derek are out of this world, Sue's breakfasts are to die for, after one I didn't need to eat for 10 hours, the décor is pre-Raphaelite and wonderfully done, Sue thinks of everything and they are both so helpful and welcoming.

If it's peace and quiet you're looking for, look no more. The views, the quiet, the warmth of Derek and Sue's welcome ensure that your holiday is whatever you need it to be, even when you oversleep, are an hour late for breakfast or when the dog is sick all over the carpet. It is wonderful to go to a...
