The hotel, quality of service and food aren’t done justice on the website. The Ilchester Arms is a classic country pub and truly cosy inside. The welcome by staff was terrific and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, often pre-emptying questions or things we needed. Food is hearty pub fayre and exceeds expectations, particularly the fish pie. Breakfast was exceptional. Rooms are ultra clean, functional and offer good value for money. Seats by the fire in winter are at a premium. We hope to return soon. Manager Jackie is lovely and seems to spin any number of plates to keep visitors and guests happy.
We stayed at the Ilchester arms for 3 nights great location comfortable room good breakfast and would stay again, however disappointed by evening meal, Abbotsbury is small so Really wasn’t anywhere else to go for dinner unless we drove, menu Was a good choice, but disappointed with our meals, fish and chips was from a frozen pack, nearly £16 for fish pie nearly all mash, hunters chicken small chicken breast jar of sauce mix wouldn’t have minded but expected more from what we were paying , sausage and mash was better, nice staff and atmosphere
We stopped here for coffee and a snack on the way to the Navy Air Museum. We were so impressed we booked for lunch for on the way back. There were 6 of us. The service was superb. Very friendly efficient and professional. The Sunday lunch was great. Very good quality and generous helpings. Highly recommended.
Great service, very COVID friendly and delicious food. Stunning views of the chapel outside and it’s great to see a dog friendly hotel, Limited menu but some great choices should define competing for a rosette as they use great local produce.
We spent 3 nights in September, during a clearly difficult time for them. The staff were excellent throughout the stay The 2 dinners where good quality and quantity. However our room felt like it needed updating and the bed was not comfortable The bins needed cleared in the courtyard and either the owner or the bin company needed to sort this hazard. Expensive for what was provided.
