We had dinner here on Friday night, a return visit after a couple of years. There was a new couple running the pub and it wasn't as busy as previous visits. However, we were not disappointed by the food. We both had the soufflé to start and it was a great choice - absolutely delicious. I followed by a special...

Stumbled across this place as I left a little trek away, a little too last minute, and these guys had a cancellation, so booked myself in. I hadn't looked at any photos really, or even if they had a website, but I saw one photo on Google which didn't really do anything for the place... it is amazing!!! Stunning location,...

Wow is this place in the middle of nowhere! Not to be confused with The Three Horseshoes at Burton Bradstock (which is also good)! This Three Horseshoes is located in a tiny hamlet called Powerstock. We did not eat, but the food looked delicious. Nice beer and Pinot. Very nice Australian lady behind the bar. Sat Nav almost essential. Very,...

We visited here 5 years ago and were blown away with the food and friendly staff, in fact we loved it so much we came three times during our weeks holiday. Expecting more of the same we were so disappointed to find that it had changed hands and the place was not nearly as welcoming as previously. The staff are...

After a walk over Egardon Hill we sat in the sun eating good locally sourced food with a good pint of Palmers enjoying the view from the terrace. Not many better ways of spending an afternoon. Really good food and a pub well worth finding.

We were staying in next door Nettlecombe. Powerstock is a 5 minute walk across a small valley. We thought we'd try the pub. And were blown away by the food and the setting. John has cooked in some grander places although probably not more lovely. It means that "he knows how to do it" and you get food way above...

Beautiful village, nice walk through the fields to a neighbouring pub, surprised by some great folk music with a brilliant turn out on a Thursday night - we'll be back! :) Room basic but definitely did the job!

My family of 5 took up the only 2 rooms that this pub has for overnight stays. The rooms are attached to the pub and has its own entrance which is nice and private. The rooms are large and spacious, nicely decorated and with high quality facilities (lovely large walk in showers). The beds are comfortable and the views over...

This is a very nice pub situated in a tiny village with an interesting history. It is a part of Dorset completely unknown to us, and it was a leap in the dark booking a meal. We were agreeably surprised! Fortunately the evening was warm so we were able to sit in the garden with a drink and which has...

We first visited the Three Horseshoes in 1990 and this was only our second time back since then. Glad to say it has improved on my distant memory. The room was spacious, clean with great views across the hills and very peaceful. The menu in the restaurant was fairly short but the cooking exemplary (we later found out that the...

“Move the chesterfield round to face the TV in room one (like a suite) and it's like your own cinema, glancing across to see the countryside through the Juliet balconied window and the back to one of the selection of free DVDs on offer. Perfect room. Have no knowledge of the other rooms but assume that room 2 is equally as good!”
